Update On Noah (19 Year Old White Dove)

I think people under estimate just how old Noah would be in human years. Imagine it, giving a 98 year old a brand new large house, and a huge lawn to run around in, and then putting all new furniture and technology in there. At that age they just want the same routine, nothing new, and to take things slowly.

I have Seramas (mini chickens that are the size of Noah, basically-a little bit plumper) and I clip their nails with a *small dog nail clipper. They hate it too, but it gets done. However, their nails, I’m sure, are a lot bigger than Noah’s, and given his age it’s understandable not to stress him out.
Happy Birthday to Noah (and you as well, belated). That’s quite a milestone for a dove! You should get the poor boy a lady friend! (I know nothing about doves, so maybe that’s really bad advice.)
At this point I don’t think he would handle any other bird very well lol, thanks for the support!

I lose my fingers if i try to clip my parrot's nails
Ngl dude only one cat I ever had which I guess I haven’t had many but like 3 of them would let me clip his nails and even he wasn’t excited and needed to be distracted a bit. Animals probably are just very sensitive or something. Had to learn the hard way one time when I splintered his nail that cats even have blood vessels in there and can feel it. Anyway I feel ya buddy. Be careful anyone who sees this when cutting an animals nails and definitely do some research.

My oldest (ringneck) dove is about the same age (20-21 ish). He has cataracts and is now blind (one eye remains open and the other one closed). He rarely coos and the most he does is 3 coos. He's familiar with the birdcage so thankfully feeding him isn't a problem. He has 3 kids that are like a year younger. The older one is blind (and flies backwards), the middle one isn't, and the younger one is blind only on one eye. The only one that isn't blind is the female dove. She likes people food so I give her dried fruits/vegetables as treats. Whenever they get happy (if I ask her if she wants treats or if they wanna come outside), they open and close their beaks like if they're yawning.

As a bird owner/lover, I’m so happy to see your dove thriving. I do apologize for the sassy and overreacting bird people on your other video; they do not know your bird as well as you do! While yes, many of the tips are helpful, but not all birds are the same and some advice mainly revolves around parrots. (kind of why they kept bashing you to get toys. Pigeons and doves don’t need toys since they are entertained by anything.)
I suggest you do the nail clippings at a vet who specializes in birds, if they want to put anesthesia just to clip the nails, please decline since birds are sensitive to those things, even if it’s a little over the dose needed, it can pass away.

the fact that white doves can live only up to 15 years but this dove is 4 years older than the normal dying age is incredible,it means you take GREAT care of the animal,good job😃

Just found your video on my feed and looked because I also have a ring necked dove and lo and behold HIS name is Noah. Great minds think alike, I guess. I got my Noah from a pet store in 1998 and he is still going strong. He has been all over Arizona and Colorado with me and has been a good friend through it all. I am not sure how I will do when he finally leaves me. I love him so! He has made my life so magical with his lovely coos and calls. Those are decreasing as his age advances, but every once in awhile, when he sees himself in his mirror, they still echo throughout my home. Noah is the best purchase I have ever made and I will never regret getting him.

Does he really need a trip to the vet? After 19 years, do the nails Really need clipping? At his age stress is a factor and why subject him to it? You said he no like go-pro, new toys, different perch, so what is going to happen with a car ride? If it ain’t broke...

That has to be the sweetest duo ever :) The pilot and his crash landing bird. We had a rose-ringed parakeet that was one year older than me. He wasn't nearly as calm and well-behaved as Noah tho :D Died when I was 17 but I still remember him well. Happy to see your buddy is in good shape still ♥

I have 3 pet doves, they are 7, 5, 1 years old. Its quite refreshing to have these beautiful birds ❤ One of them is inquisitive by nature, she notices everything happening around her 😊

He turned red when he flies you can see how much he cares about him stop giving him tips he knows Noah better then anyone.
I am not sure why people would want this dove to have his nails trimmed. Because those nails are there to grip and balance his body. Did you noticed how he had a difficult time balancing on his owner's fingers? Because he could not get a better grip with his nails trimmed. The owner has him for 19 years but apparently he does not know about the nails. You should not trim the nails of birds period! They are very thin and fragile and if you do that than it might get infected.
A person who takes care of any animal(s) and truly loves it, they are more likely to have a longer life expectancy, and this guy is a true example. Doves are a gift from God. 🕊

I’m sure you know this, but if you aren’t super comfortable with having someone else do his nails, they do make awesome perches that have grip tape on them to file the nails over time!
As a fellow DOVE owner I appreciate the fact that you know your bird well enough to know what he can and can’t do at his age. Your careful judgement is clearly a huge contributor to his old age.❤️
I can’t tell, does Noah have clipped wings? I’ve been thinking about getting my doves wings clipped because I worry about him flying around in my small apartment.
Thanks for the advice but he won’t touch any other perch unfortunately lol, and I haven’t clipped his wings since he was probably 2 years old, so they grew back normally from what I can tell. I just clipped the ends of them with scissors at the time to keep him from landing on my ceiling fan

I’ll see if I can do a video on it, but the best way is going to a flight school. Colleges have them built in but I advice going to one outside of having to go to a college

He is too old to experience new cages or new toys. Keeping his original lifestyle would be good enough for him ;p I even don't think his nails need to be trimmed, maybe just make him walk on sandpaper sometimes would be enough(? lol

Noah needs sandpaper perch covers. They slip over the perch bars in their cage. I used them for my dove and they worked really well to keep the nails trim.
Damn. I just know you for being an Xbox Apex player lol. I had some doves. Both white (6 of them) and Eurasian Collared Doves (5) and 1 morning dove. I keep the white separate from the Eurasian. The white doves always bullied another white dove. They were let go but there’s one (Eurasian) hat likes it here and stays here lol. He keeps flying in through my window lol. His favorite place to hang out is on my shoulder or head. He’ll go into my room but as much as I would like to have him in my room, I don’t want bird crap everywhere lol.
He is one year younger than me... thats insane. I have 2 Horses, 1 of who is just as old as me, and one who is older than me (he has been in the family before i was born). A dove on the other hand is insane. Take care of him

A white dove with the cutest crest on its head landed outside our house since almost two months and we've since been trying to bring it indoors as I'm afraid it won't make it too long outside. I've learned it's a Serbian highflyer, extremely intelligent and quick! Fun thing is I'm not at all comfortable around birds but I will try to deal with it for the safety of this angel. My pup suddenly passed one year ago; he was all white with gorgeous black eyes, just like this dove that came to us around his one year anniversary. He had a white dove toy which I placed in the bed in which he passed and I haven't removed it since he left us. Suddenly this white dove comes to us out of nowhere. I had never seen a white dove before. Hopefully we'll succeed in bringing it indoors. This was lovely to watch 🤍
I love Noah! I have a rescue that's about a year old, 3 months now I've had her, and so far I love my dove, she has a missing wing from a cat attack most likely, and rescued her from a laundromat in brooklyn.
We'll go with the assumption that it's the bird people want to see, for now. lol's. Don't sweat those that think they need to tell you how to care for your bird. Many forget that they only see you in a short video and have no idea what your life and all it entails is like. Congrats on increasing your sub numbers and I hope you do well. The phenomenom of watching bird videos is interesting. Myself, I have 2-3 birds I watch on a regular basis. Mostly because I cannot own one myself. And after a while one does get attached in a viewing way. So getting to see a unique bird, a dove is kinda cool. Clearly he's been a solid companion for you for a very long time. He so beautiful,but remember birds are very delicate so I wouldn't bring him to the vet,what you do is wrap him in a towel and turn him upside down and you can clip his nails.

He's great, we had a pair of pigeons for 18 years, the male, a fan tail was found unable to fly in a friends garden so I don't know his age when he died the female died a couple of weeks later. We never let them breed.
Thanks for the update. I liked the other video. I had noticed the nails in the first video, but as a nurse, I know that we do not cut the nails on elderly or diabetic people, it is too big a risk. I could see how much you care for him, which is a lot. A whole lot.
