I'm going to be honest, Hanzo in MKX was a manchild. He left the other revenants doomed to forever be revenants, lost his one chance to restore his family and was the main reason Shinok (no idea if I spelt that right) returned. If he had just listen to reason shit wouldn't have hit the fan so much.
I like it. It shows his character actually has flaws unlike boring ass Kuai Liang in MK1. My only gripe with it is that not a single person gave him shit for his actions across MKX and MK11 which they rightfully should have

Despite Scorpion being powerful I feel he is weaker than Hanzo since Scorpion is only fueled by anger and vengeance that’s all he thinks about and is driven by, it weakens him and clouds his judgement and fighting abilities, but as Hanzo he is driven by protecting his new family and regaining his lost honor since Quan Chi is now dead
I bet this game has a deleted scene where Kuai Liang sent one of his guys to the Fire Garden to invite Hanzo for not only the tea, but also for the truth about the true extinction of the Shirai Ryu through Sektor's cyber-preserved memory after the final battle between Kuai Liang and Sektor. At least, several years prior to the final battle between Hanzo and Quan Chi.

If one analyzes this from one point… Sektor was right to not pay Quan Chi anything. Quan Chi planned to use Scorpion against the Lin Kuei - the same clan that made an agreement with the sorcerer.
His wrath and rage were blinding his judgment. It doesn't excuse his lack of wisdom in waiting for the others to be restored and then getting his revenge, but angry people are known for making stupid decisions
Johnny didn't beat Shinnok, he only used shock value to hold him down for a while so Raiden can do the main job of sealing him. Shadow kick is a good counter for Shinnok only. Not for other fighters.

My guess is it only activates when its someone like Shinnok's nature. It didn't flare up too much in MK 11 when he and Cassie fought Revenants and Shao Kahn. Johnny BARELY learned how to tap into it and Cassie did her best to learn it.
For those who don't know, there were 2 plans on their attempt on freeing Shinnok, plan A and B, since Quan Chi is the only one who knows how to free him since he and D’vorah set them up, the 1st step of the plan is for her to recover the amulet from Outworld, the 2nd step is to bring to Quan Chi just for him to free Shinnok Plan A: Quin Chi will wait for D’vorah in his fortress while the revenats hold the Jax and the special forces Plan B: if the special forces succeed on capturing Quan Chi, he and D’vorah will rendevous in Refugee Kamp just for D’vorah to ambush the Special forces in order to break Quan Chi out of his cell. But neither the Special Forces, Quan Chi and D’vorah expected Hanzo and the Shirai Ryu to show up and Kill Quan Chi, so Hanzo ambushed both of them first. But that plan was not in vain unfortunetely for D’vorah
If Scorpion had remained a specter for the entire game and stayed with Quan Chi the entire game, how would this scene have gone differently including the flashback where he would encounter Sub-Zero and learn the truth, but stay with Quan Chi regardless?
Scorpions wasn't under Quan chis influence like he other revenents،he was a specter rather than a revenent،but he was still under Quan chis spell as shown in chapter 5

Really not a great redemption arc for Scorpion. In his lust for vengeance, he aided in the return of Shinnok and made it impossible to bring back the other revenants.
