I loved the shot when the Queen was standing there talking to the small folk and the dragon was behind her....what a great shot.

Correction, “Fish” isn’t being sent over in boats, Ulf himself complained all they had to eat was fish in a past episode. Team black was sending meat, fruit & vegetables

That Ulf scene over king's landing, I thought he either wanted to show off to his bar mates or he was not yet in control of the flight trajectory, and silverwing just took him there

    • @Miskatonic1927
      @Miskatonic1927 Месяц назад +1

Yeah, Ulf had no control of Silverwing in that end scene. It clearly was a joyride that Silverwing took him on much like Vhagar did with young Aemond. Plus it is apparent that Rhaenyra and Ulf were still covered in ash or dirt so that joyride happened right after Vermithor toasted the potential dragonseeds. Rhaenyra looked like she was waiting there for Silverwing to come back to see who the new rider was and was shocked to see Aemond and Vhagar following and then the shocked look quickly turned to a smirk when she saw them turn around and flee.

I've enjoyed Heronhall, I liked watching his therapy sessions but I definitely hear you. This season seems a bit aimless. I've enjoyed the season though. Hugh Hammers mom could be Sara Targaerian and Ulf White is the bastard brother of Damon and Viseryes.

Hugh got Vermithor because he had lost his daughter, and no longer cared if he lived or died. He was the only one brave enough to meet Vermithor's standards.

The Vermithor scene was beautiful chaos. So brutal showing not only the "contestants" getting fried but also a handful of guards blocking them from fleeing. Rhaenyra calmly watching without a hint of panic or remorse was cold! I liked the dialogue btw Corlys & his bastard sons, brief as it was. I loved the establishing shot of Ulf, torch in hand, making his way through the dragon cave dwarfed by the size of his surroundings (very PJ LOTR).
Judging from the show alone I half expected Daemon to slay the young Lord Tully for his public insolence on the spot. Nitpick, why not show the gore when Daemon ended Lord Blackwood?
To your point, the same way the Gold Cloaks would hear about the food, I'd expect word of dragon-rider recruitment to spread as well. If Hugh & Ulf weren't on that boat to Dragonstone I could see Vhagar dropping napalm from the sky en route. Or at least Aemond infiltrating the group w/ an assassin.
I saw Ulf's flight over KL as more of a newb mistake but if he willed that to happen intentionally (to brag or any reason) it would be incredibly stupid with all the Scorpions & Aemond there. So much for the element of surprise.

By all means, James, you can love the book, but bear in mind it's *not a novel* per se. It's a historical chronicle. A text book told through the eyes and ears of its unreliable narrators, Archmaester Gyldayn and his two primary sources Maester Muncken and royal jester, Mushroom. Each of them have their own bias (one being the Black, the other being for the Greens and the third, being an acerbic wit within the court) in their telling of the Targaryen dynastic saga. The truth of what really happened during the Dance of the Dragons, lies somewhere amongst those individuals' POV. That said, the book is not sacrosanct because of those factors. The series can and does have license to tell the story from its own POV so long as the spirit of the book lives in the series. I'm more than satisfied (including Daemon's fever dreams because they informed his arc this season) with what I've seen so far. To those whining and puling over the pace and omitted battles of the show, the blame lies at the feet of HBO's execs who were mandated by Warner Bros Discovery to cut (". . .for story reasons. . .") season 2's previously announced and expected 10 episodes to 8, (likewise for season 3) making Act II of this story a total of 16 episodes instead of 20. This season was in fact, 2-A, the next season is 2-B, no matter what the cabler's suits want to call it.

Thanks, James. This is one of the only shows where I eagerly anticipate the next episode and make sure I'm home ready to watch when it's available. True, it's not perfect; too much filler for only eight episodes in a season. Also, I could have done without Ulf hanging on to his new dragon hoping he doesn't fall (The Greatest Valyrian Zero), though I'd *like* to imagine that was all part of Rhaenyra's plan to lure Aemond to Dragonstone for a good ass-kicking. Next week: season finale!

Daemons story arc is similar to Jamie Lanister, it's more consistent for such a lethal and determined character to have some persistent period of suffering, to ultimately transition onto a more rounded hero in the end.
It wouldn't suprise me if he finds redemption in season 4. (One hopes 😅)

I certainly agree that season 2 is not as strong as the first season. Still pretty decent as a 7/10 overall for me in contrast to the 9/10 I gave season 1. I still think that the show really misses an anchor that season 1 provided with Viserys and Paddy Considine. The cast and performances are still excellent but there is no longer that "everyman" character that really pulled you in.

I’m really looking forward to the finale. Yes season 2 at times was a bit less interesting than season 1 (the Harrenhall storyline became repetitive real fast and also Rhaenyra being always in the war room for the most part also started to get old) BUT overall it was still a good season. The acting, the set designs, etc are still top notch imho.
One thing I would’ve liked to see more is Larys being weird and cunning. It’s like they toned down his character for whatever reason.

The civil war for the Iron Throne has gone from scary/exhilarating to a j-o-b. Someone should have filed “Unsafe Staffing” during Dragon 🐉 Rider try-outs. Daemon is that coworker who calls out sick, filing FMLA for chronic illness while tripping balls in his man cave, Harrenhal while playing Assassin Creed 3. One more episode to go. I sense a heel turn somewhere.

Absolutely agree on Harrenhal. Whatever happened to letting actors emote such feelings or suggesting something rather than this dreadful show all, paint by numbers rubbish. The whole thing was off. Rest of the show has been brilliant. Love the characters there in Harrenhal, fine actors all but the writing has let them down badly, and the returning actors who did cameos too have been wronged.

You didn't "buy it" because America has no heritage of kings and queensan feudal lords. Perhaps this is why Martin has chosen British actors - because we do! I have never read Martin's books but know British history. Even in this season, you would know that Oscar Tully was born, bred and educated to lead his clan. Despite his youth, he has the heart of a lion as reflected in his first encounter with the young Rhaenyra. It seems your ignorance of history means you miss pertinent details which the author thought were important.
