Salting the fish will give you fish that never spoil so it’s good to do with excess fish for later so you can go on expositions or use it for the raft trip to civilization
One shell water gives 50% to crops, same for palm fronds/snake grass wich repair 50% shelter/bed. When you are in need of wood/sticks, go to jungle outskirts (free move from beach) and hover your axe over the jungle card location (same as to exploring), it is a 30 minutes action that gives you many sticks and woods (+/- 5+3).
4:26 It should like give us a boost of happiness everytime we do a new thing, such as explore new biomes, new blueprints, etc. 25:45 The ultimate coconut plot twist!!!!!!!! 28:30 You should try the Kago leaves, the Bandage plant leaves, or any other herb that allows us to make some tea and stuff
honestly kaffa plant was the best plant ever. it increase happiness and act as pain killer. so minor pain debuff wont showing (mean that no happiness reduction due to minor pain)
For passive happiness gain I'd recommend to make seashell necklace. Otherwise just prioritising solving problems before they become an issue (I always made next meal right after ate previous one. That way you don't start to gather ingredients when you're hungry, you're eating when you're hungry and then gathering ingredients without losing happiness). Don't be sleepy, ever, which basically means sleeping 20:00-4:00, and more fun activities like diving, fishing or something in that capacity. Also playstyle basically should depend on goals: if your goal is to make a good living on the island, then stabilise the schedule and do "interesting and new" things when you have spare time. If your goal is to do interesting things, then accept depression, cause that doesn't balance out current needs of the "survivor", which leads to low happiness. Also, you can't burn your crafted meals, so you don't have to be that anxious about cooking like it is with just roasting basic foods.
Even though you couldn't, thanks for trying to bait the Fish Trap. I was frustrated wondering if you could for a while, and seeing you test it out and prove you couldn't was cathartic. This game seems like one where experimentation can pay off, so it's nice to see things get tested.
I was doing a play along with the series and then I got too far ahead and "accidentally" killed a boar, didn't now what to do with it and just rotted away and now I'm as depressed as my character! Also I've been loving this series and the game, thank you Reto! P.S. you might wanna invest in bug repellent because it's a bigger deal in the wetlands
Hey Reto! A few tips: There is more copper ore in the highlands if you explore enough. You don't need to use an axe or sharpened stone to open the coconuts or the tropical almonds (which is degrading your axe by 5% each time), you can use just a regular stone. Same for cutting the lemon grass, it's a waste to use the axe when a sharpened stone is enough. Also remember that aloe vera has a limited amount on the island as do many other crops/trees!
Opening drained coconuts doesn't degrade tools, specifically checked that multiple times, also it's very clear in the video, if one's paying attention. Agreed on lemongrass, but that is an advice that won't be followed, cause it needs more organised inventory and developing necessary habits. On the topic of deadfall trap - it's under hunting tab and he already knows the recipe... it's one of the earliest ones ;)
yep this happen to me right now. i'm on day 88 without any kaffa plant left to reduce my fever. i have fever due to wet season which rain everyday starting from day 70-ish. thankfully fever only make the character thirsty and not hungry. so with rain everyday i can just drink anywhere lol
Fever isn't the main problem. Main problem is what causing fever. I'd advise to look for spider lily tea as means to fight the infection that causes fever. And stay indoors as long as possible(I do hope that you have a hut that far in the run or at least trying to build it right now)
@@Fellentor actually the fever was coming from raining for more than 2 weeks now. so, i simply can't stay in the hut forever. i do tho doing most of my action in the hut, but it doesn't matter when all happen outside was just rain and rain every single day. so yeah in the end my fever bar still full due to no more kaffa plant and the world still raining forever lol i'm able to escape the island on day 92. the island still raining. i can't believe it still raining after more than 20 days.
@@kundangkurnia I do understand that initial cause of the problem was the rain, but devs already gave some answers on the problem. Kava isn't always the answer. Kava just reduces symptoms(fever) and if body can handle the illness(if you don't like term infection), it will. But lily helps with the illness itself. I had the same problem during rain season(which is a thing in the game, and yes it can be that long) and lily helped me greatly. Rain itself doesn't induce fever, it's just weakens ability to fight illness, that's all...
Equipping the seashell necklace and keeping other needs in check should be enough to passively improve the mood bar, perhaps also having a sand castle built?
You could go to where your snakegrass is and make ropes there. Should make it easier to to do. Rather than carrying it back to camp. Could also make your bag and such. Just remember to take food and water. :)
Love your Content, Man. Really. It's most enjoyable. And last but not least there is a lot of good tips in the comments as well. I appreciate that. 😁👍🏼
You can use coconut water to make coconut milk and to water the crops after planting. You still have to use normal water before planting but after planting, you can use coconut water to water the crop.
Kava Tea helps with mood I would assume. Probably a mixture of: Build and Wear Necklace Build a Sandcastle Drink Kava Tea I don't have a way to play and test it myself, but I haven't seen you use Kava Tea yet. Love your content btw.
iirc, kava tea doesn't provide passive buff to mood(provides a buff to pain tolerance though, that in some cases might be even better). Like most things in the game tea gives some amount of good mood the moment character drinks it. Necklace definitely provides passive buff though and is enough to turn "happiness neutral" into happiness positive :)
But that obviously means keeping needs in check which isn't something we often see in these videos. Which is understandable, cause constantly keeping needs in check doesn't provide entertaining gameplay. Can vouch for that, my character lived for 100+ days on the island and only interesting things that were happening, happened when I was topped of and got some spare time to explore shipwreck for example(which led to extreme laceration and several weeks of just trying to stay alive. Succeeded in that, but that was miserable time for my guy. Mood dropped from max to several depressions)
on my playthrough, my main base was at deep jungle. it's very easy to gain happiness there due to sheer amount of kaffa plant which act as pain killer. so i never have minor pain debuff that reducing happiness. the downside is, i use a LOT of aloe to make bug repellant. right now, i'm at day 88 with raft + chest finished. and only waiting for the courage mission to set off from the island. BUT, because i use kaffa very often, i don't have any kaffa left to reduce my fever starting from day 80 (which is my 10th day of raining and it still raining even on day 88). thankfully fever doesn't make you die LOL.
For the fish, it is salted so it last for long but irl if you want to cook it you have to soak it in a bin with water for a couple days. I presume the game has some way to do it but I don't know how

I'm glad you stayed strong after drinking that salt water and persevered! :D
We really need to add a confirmation prompt for actions of that sort!
I love his ever increasing mound of coconut shells
Equipping the seashell necklace and keeping other needs in check should be enough to passively improve the mood bar, perhaps also having a sand castle built?
Instead of throwing rocks at the coconut trees you should be climbing and gain skill. Then go explore the highlands with a much higher success rate.
You could go to where your snakegrass is and make ropes there. Should make it easier to to do. Rather than carrying it back to camp. Could also make your bag and such. Just remember to take food and water. :)
I believe you can find copper ore in the highlands. But I'm not 100% sure
You can! There is a vein of copper confirmed in the highlands by devs and you can rarely find loose copper while exploring.
Thank you for these daily videos, this series is my fav for college. I watch it while I eat
It would be sensible for them to add an 'are you sure?' prompt to drinking seawater.

good activities for idle time when feet and hands are hurting -> train spear fighting, build some rope - you seriously always need more rope :D
Hey mister, what is in the sack?
Retro: Burning wood and a bunch of sticks. Don't worry about it.
Mainline kava to get happy. Got to run around high af.
Really enjoying this series and always a pleasure to see it on my feed. Thanks for making great content as usual!
Ei, new episode! Watching again while doing homework! Keep it up, man, love the series.

Commenting on the video to support the series.
At 28:30 I think you can use kava root brew in order to bring down nausea
The MudHut is prety long to build I used two bags to transport dirt from the wetland but its wort it for the stove.
That sea water drinking did so much damage! Way more than I expected
MOAR OF DIS GAME!!!
on my playthrough, my main base was at deep jungle.
it's very easy to gain happiness there due to sheer amount of kaffa plant which act as pain killer.
so i never have minor pain debuff that reducing happiness.
the downside is, i use a LOT of aloe to make bug repellant.

carefull with the miss clicks xD time to be brave and go on the shipwreck !
You can use the coconut juice instead of fresh water to make coconut milk recipe
This made me curious about coconut fish, I love coconut so I'll probably like that. Anyone had it? How did you like it?
Lemongrass + coconut milk soup is extremely common in southeast Asia, Thai style Tom Kha Pla is one place to look
For the fish, it is salted so it last for long but irl if you want to cook it you have to soak it in a bin with water for a couple days. I presume the game has some way to do it but I don't know how
Hmmm, I wonder if it's possible to craft a chest to store stuff in, or shelves in your house or cave? I guess more sacks might work in a pinch.
Still loving this series Reto!
Retro is a hungry man
From day 60 it start raining non-stop. I'm on day 68 and it is still raining.
god I love this series!
I think you can get long sticks from chopping logs.
you should still go explore the rocks
I haven't been dizzy in game but I would just do what I would do IRL and lie down.
i remeber seeing in the trailer that you could butcher the fish and get two portions of meat, might be worth trying out
When I tried, it turned it into 8 pieces of bait
There's only one specific fish that this works with.
could you pls try to combine the sand castle with the pretty sea shells just curious if you can.^^
Sadly you can't. Bought this game partly cause I wanted to test this :{D
Commenting for algorithm :D
Reto, do you plan on going back to the Last Spell soon? They had a big patch with a new location
I don't suppose that eating charcoal would help?
I wonder how good roasted almonds are.
Use the antibiotic plant
Do cave puddle have copper?
Card Survival: Tropical Isle-and
Better shelter aka mud 🛖
I did a comment.
I feel like you need to deploy the fish traps in the sea. It looks like they're sitting on the sand to me?
-20% durability on axe from opening Almonds instead of using a stone....
Day 4 of reasonably asking for Terraria:
Just go to any gaming community at all and ask "Should I play Terraria?" and the answers will be almost unanimously yes.
To be blunt, almost unanimously is an oxymoron.
