I studied under Bruce from 1979 to 1990. This was before he met Grand-master Mitose. Bruce's greatest strength is his ability to assimilate and apply knowledge, and his knowledge goes far beyond Kenpo, Kosho, Modern Arnis and the other systems he has mastered, most of which he does not teach in public. Bruce has dedicated much of his life to the martial arts and to bringing people together in the arts. He once closed all his schools and moved to Spain to study the Saber because he wanted to learn the European sword. Bruce learned White Crane style of Kung Fu by going to a school in San Francisco and being forced to stand in a horse stance for 8 hours for the first 5 lessons as a test of his commitment. As for his actual fighting skill, let's just say that I have seen him fight for real in public many times and he knows how to apply his knowledge. In other words, he is the real deal. As for comments about his weight, I will just say that anyone who has been in the martial arts knows that there are many body types and judging someone's martial skill who is small, fat, short or tall is a mistake. I have been thrown across the room by an 80 year old Indonesian Grand-master of Silat who probably weighed about 150lbs (I weigh 250). The comments criticizing others in the martial arts are both bothersome and tiresome and one reason I do not train in public schools anymore. If you think you can beat someone go fight them, whining on the internet is for cowards.

      I started training in
      kosho ryu Kempo
      In 1995.after training in
Freestyle full contact martial arts ,
      For 19 years
A colleague had traveled to the states with a team of fighters from Australia to fight in major a tournament and had meet
      Hanshi Bruce Jucknic
And while there received an impromptu personal lesson ,that so impressed him that he continued to travel every year for the next 17 years to train with hanshi in the states
      Jucknik first came to Australia
      In 1999 He personally trained
A small group of black belts from different martial backgrounds on camps we held every year for the next 15 years
      Bruce is the real deal
And has an encyclopaedic knowledge of an incredible
      Number of different arts
The respect he has gained from other truly great martial artists speaks volumes
Of this , His knowledge of the laws of human movement and its application in martial arts
Is so far as I've seen in 44 years of martial arts second to none
Until you actually try to hit him or one of his top students it's hard to see how he so easily he puts you in a position where your next move would be your last
      Trust me this isn't fake

Bruce is very very strong. He avoids using any strwngth when striking instead works his body like autopilot. I remember one of his videos where he explains the autopilot method of our body when using technique unprepared. It was very interesting. He is not nonsense and what he teaches is very effective.

I was a martial artist for years prior to meeting g and training with hanshi...his understanding of timing and balance is extra ordinary I have been blessed to be his student. I have also trained with many other masters and can say that anyone can learn something new from hanshi
I still think it's important to be fast and train hard
In addition to knowing his concepts..

I know of this guy as I went to a few of his seminars 7 years ago. I got caught up in all the sensationalism about his history and connection with James Mistose. That was until I started to do alot of research about him because people where telling me he was a fraud. At first I didn't like what people where telling me and I never just believe what people say unless I research it without proof. Through research I found out that Bruce is one of the biggest lies in martial arts history. It was a huge disappointment for myself and others in our group. For years he has been lying about his rank and history with James Mitose. That has all been found out now finally. He claims to have learned from James Mitose but only visited him in prison only a few times according to prison log books which has been proven. Many have seen the logs. Even without log books who in their right mind would believe he learned from James Mitose in a maximum security prison ? How is that people buy the stories of him having discussions in a room with Mitose in prison and Mitose showing him concepts. They would allow that in a maximum security prison ? with a convicted murder ? I have worked in prisons and that would never happen. In the book " What is Self Defense -Mitose" it shows letters that Mitose gave to Bruce declaring him Grand Master of the art. If you look in the front of the book in small print you will see that the book was reprinted by the "Kosho Shorei Ryu punishing company" ..owned by Bruce....letters inserted in the book perhaps? When you read the book there is nothing in the book resembling the material that Bruce teaches. The book clearly demonstrates karate and jujitsu techniques in a very basic way. Where is the Kosho Ryu ? Why does no one ever see that ? Bruce’s explanation over the years has been that books show “still pictures” and it’s hard to show these things as its not movement” .The book clearly shows simple techniques none of which even remotely look like the so called “Kosho Ryu” that Bruce teaches. There is no talk about any of his theories. Take Aikido for example it is not the easiest thing to learn as it is all movement and concepts yet many books have been written for that art and discussed in detail broken down into “still pictures” showing movement so people can learn from that. The whole history of Bruce and Kosho Ryu has been fabricated. In the 1980’s he was so popular because the internet wasn’t out at that time and the world could not connect to compare notes. Today these type of frauds are exposed do to the internet with people connecting and sharing and proving information. When asked to Bruce why about the book he wrote - "why is Mitoses signature in his book he wrote erased out ?". His answer is " because so no one could copy Mitoses’ signature". What a clever why to cover a lie. Things don’t seem to match here. The reality is it’s a lie. Why do famous actors and sports people have letters and signatures in books but do not block out their signatures?... That’s why we have hand writing experts to easily determine by cross referencing that signatures are real or not...no need to cross them out in a book . Bruce talks in his videos about being true to ones self but he is the biggest twister of truth. He is a good showman and fabricator. Crazy how people follow this guy. Today alot of people have researched him and found out his lies. He doesn't have the following he had for years. Eventually people seek truth. Some know but turn a blind eye. Its sad.

As someone who has done some sparring with someone trained by him directly, I have to say that you're wrong. It was not like sparring, I was completely overwhelmed, put off balance, dropped, and unable to fight effectively yet never actually felt like I was even touched. It was very disturbing.

I saw a Tae Kwon Do guy with Jack's attitude at a seminar once with Hanshi, when Hanshi was done with him he had Hanshi's foot prints all over his Gi. That guy tried so hard to land a kick on Hanshi but he never touched him once and this was in a sparing scenario. Jack, he is that good.
