What I see as a potential negative
👎Price point. At $299 it isn't cheap.
👎While the jacket is super light, it only comes with one pocket. I would have liked to see 3.
Equipment Used
While I did use a Sony A7III, I did find that my exposure was too high. That was my fault and not the fault of the Sony.
I also used the GoPro 7 for the running footage and it turned out great.
The audio was from the VideoMic Pro and I was super pleased with the sound.

Late last year and early this year I really wanted to get some running jackets in for review that were waterproof and light. Something I could use in temperatures ranging from the mid-'20s to low 50's.
One of the companies that sent out a jacket for review was Gore (www.gorewear.com). They had a new product in their lineup called the Gore R7 Gore-Tex Shakedry Trial Hooded. It's a lighter version of the GORE® H5 GORE-TEX SHAKEDRY™ Hooded Jacket.
Needless to say, Gore did a fantastic job. It's light, it's breathable and very legit for running.

How is the jacket holding up after 2 years? Is it durable?
In the beginning, you rain through a stream. What was on your feet? Waterproof socks and running shoes? Or did you just run the rest of the way with wet feet? Interesting. I bought the R5.
I'm curious of the size.... You are wearing XL, Could you tell me your height and weight? sorry.
I normally wear a size 42 jacket and I weigh about 160.
hello, as regards modularity I know that being 30% thicker than other Shakedry jackets it takes up more volume. Is this thing true? Could it be stored in the cycling pocket?
I have been using it all winter as my outer layer. I have even gone Noric skiing with it. It is very light and it packs very small just like the R5 Shake Dry.

I think the jacket is too big for you. You have to size down.
The jacket fits just right for me. I have run in it 3 times over the past 2 weeks. I normally wear a base layer and a 2nd layer when the temps are in the 30's.
Aside from the close-ups , Why is the color of the video so saturated? Tone down ISO?
It was a super bright day and didn't set the ISO, Not sure if it was set to Auto or not. When I got back home this is what it looked like. Didn't want to reshoot the video, but I agree it was too blown out.

I do think they say that you may use backpack with this version (The trail one).
The non trail version is not suppose to be used with backpack though.
Hey Martin, on the Gore website for the R7 trail they suggest a light backpack can be used, which I consider something like Bryce XT. gearmashers.com/ultraspire-bryce-xt-15l-race-vest-review/
It is a little bit vague as to what they consider a light backpack. I guess I should contact them to get a better answer.

I live in Austin. What is rain? Actually, sometimes it's really hard to test out some gear when the weather isn't co-operating. I think it has rained 2 times in the last 4 months.

Hi Weekend. I will see if I can get a rain video out for you. :-) I got a GoPro 7, so it shouldn't be a problem. The day I was shooting there wasn't any rain. I did think about wearing it in the shower to show off the shakedry, but I opted not to.

I love the jacket. I have been using it when the temps are hovering around 30 degrees. I usually layer with a wool base + a thermal top + the jacket.
