Plenty life in the old card yet, especially after a repasting and cooling. Still plays loads better than some APU solutions and if you can get one cheap its a great little backup card should something happen to your main GPU. Thanks Mike and Kath and the legend that is Sky Stalker 🙂
When I cleaned my gpu, I had no problem cleaning and repasting, actually it was fun... however I noticed that while cleaning the top part '' it was a copper plate''' the part that sits directly on the gpu chip has it's copper color all discolored and worn off. Infact im starting to think i used a very harsh isopropyl alcohol to clean... next time ill just wipe it off with a paper towel and leave the alcohol only for the chip itself
Great tutorial as only ever repasted a GTX750 and friends GTX970. The latter was desperately in need of tlc! How do you know which thermal pads you need in advance? My d'ters RX570 4gb bought off ebay hasn't been repasted so assuming needs paste and thermal pads! Remapped the fan curve and turned off zero fanspeed to reduce temps and dusted so your tutorial perfect timing! Thanks Mike and Kath (& Sky!) 👍
I have determined that confidence in performing these tasks comes from ones financial means to freely afford to replace if it goes pear shaped without costing a weeks rent etc. Or in another words the balls to do it. Building my rig was enough pants changing for me for a decade.

Very true! this still games like a champ and no onboard solution can touch it
You read my mind Mike. I'm getting ready to re- paste my GTX1650 Super. Thanks for the how to. Thanks for sharing Mike and Lady Kath. Cheers
Glad to help, hope it all goes well
Great video, Mike! For such an old card, it really is amazing how much life it has left in it…
Couldn't agree more! and thanks for sending it over, much appreciated

thermal pads info is generally quite hard to get. i often end up googling it in advance and say a prayer

That is definitely a factor and also having a spare or substitute on hand makes the process a lot less intimidating
Hi, Mike. Nice doorstop. 😂👍
😁
Asmr cleaning, i luv it thanks mike:)
You're welcome 😊
Why you didn't replace the thermal pads though?
Because it doesnt make a difference
not really much point here they looked to be in good condition
Is the process identical with higher-end GPUs with beefier heatsinks?
yes pretty much, just more screws and stuff
Hi Mike! great tutorial! I have the same card, please how to know when to change the thermal pads? thanks in advance..
change them when the oil starts coming out. or they start to crumble apart
legendary card ! maybe you should tweak the settings more for cyberpunk
yeah it really deserves a bit of a OC
