アイレムが放つ水中シューティングゲームは、その名も「海底大戦争」。破壊の美学を追求し、リアリズムとダイナミズムが融合した、海底と海面が舞台の横スクロールシューティング。魚雷を発射する前方攻撃と爆雷･ミサイルを発射する上下攻撃という変わった操作方法である。またミサイルユニットを取ると攻撃効果も海底と水面に上昇した場合とで変化し、機雷は機銃にミサイルは追跡ミサイルと変化する。同じく魚雷もユニットを取ることで超音波魚雷、クラッカーと変化する。緻密に計算された難易度、派手で美麗なグラフィック、破壊可能な背景の建物など爽快感がある。異色な舞台設定からか、マニアック層への人気が高かった。南極、亡霊都市、超深海などの全6ステージ。
ストーリー：
復活した悪の組織「DAS」が、世界を水没せしめる磁力兵器・人類掃討システム「ユグスキューレ」を発動。各地の都市が水に沈み、人類全体、地球全体に危機が！そんな時、南極で試運転中だった新型潜水艦に緊急出動の命令が出た。最新鋭の対流型磁気推進システム・ダイナコアによって深々度潜航、無音推進も可能で、しかも大気圏外まで飛び出せる新型潜水艦「グランビア」。搭乗者は海洋警備隊・高原麗とその夫、高原仁。彼らは「ユグスキューレ」を倒す究極の使命の元、深き深淵へと旅立っていくのだった…

Kaitei Daisensou is a sideways-scrolling shoot-em-up for one or two-players. Each player takes control of a submarine and must shoot their way through the game's six levels as they are attacked from both beneath the water in which the submarine moves (by enemy subs, gun emplacements, mines etc.), as well from above the water-line, by boats, jet fighters and helicopters. Numerous power-ups can be collected to boost the sub's meagre fire-power.
This is a superb game, created by the ame team behind the legendary "R-Type" series. The superbly-rendered graphics are very similar in style to Irem's "R-Type Leo", released a year earlier. Kaitei Daisensou would prove to be Irem's last 'traditional' arcade shoot'em up, although two further R-Type sequels were released for home consoles (see R-Type Series section for more info).

敵自体が 剥がれ、ひしゃげ、砕ける──
爆発エフェクトで覆い隠すだけではない、破壊表現の何たるかを教えてくれるという点でも良いゲームだと思う

The villain group in this game is also in Air Duel, Undercover Cops, and Gun Force II.
Metal Slug was supposed to be a tank-based successor to this before Marco and Tarma were added, as this became its own game.

As soon as I saw 2 frames of animation, I KNEW this had to be by some of the same people that work on Metal Slug. The style is so distinct, and instantly recognizable.

なるほど、1人プレイでコンティニュー有りクリアしたらハッピーエンド的なエンディングになるのか
プレイヤーが乗るグランビア号は搭乗者の搭乗時間が長い程、普通の人間として生きていく事ができなくなるので
人間としての心が残っているうちにどこか遠くへと去る…というのがこのEDらしい（ニコニコ大百科）。
意外とアイレムもタイトーやケイブ並に鬱エンドの宝庫なのよね…

2P同時プレイでクリアすると夫婦で殺し合い（ラスボス撃破後対戦ステージに以降）するしね…
ちなみにゲーメストから出てた漫画は2Pの仁が主役で夫婦が殺し合うことはなく
攫われた1Pの麗を助けるべくグランビアを降りて格闘戦繰り広げちゃったりしてたな…

Yeah I was about to comment that lol because I got it as a present for my birthday one day and when I looked at the cover it said metal slug submarine and I was like wtf I never seen this metal slug before unfortunately for me I already knowed about this game and when I popped the CD into my PC I was like what the fuxk this is in the hunt! Well, it's not that FAR from something that actually is, considering the same staff did Metal Slug, and I always think they based from Kaitei Daisensou to create the submarine Section of Metal Slug

It was developed by IREM. Which some of the employees left the company and formed there own one named Nazca Corporation which been acquired by SNK. The company's last game is GUNFORCE II which is the spiritual predecessor of the METAL SLUG franchise.

ラスボスを前当たり判定でクリアしたら生存endだった気もするけど確かではない。
1coinだとラスボスの後当たり判定が変わったとかもあったかも知れない。
ともかく、1coinで稼ぎつつ前当たり判定で沈めたら13万点↑でした。

6:38, Seabed Ruins. I think it got shuffled further back in the overseas version "In The Hunt."
It's Stage 3 in Japan, Stage 5 in the US.
I don't think it was a statue because it had bloody insides

아마 귀환엔딩 보려고 일부러 한 번 컨티뉴 한걸지도요.
원코인 엔딩이 폭발에 휘말려서 죽는 엔딩이고, 한번이라도 컨티뉴를 하면 귀환 엔딩, 2인 플레이시에는 두 플레이어가 싸워서 이긴 쪽이 남은 적 세력을 모아서 자기가 세계 정복을 하는 빌런이 되는 엔딩인데, 만약 두 플레이어가 공격을 안 하고 시간이 다 되면 둘 다 침몰하는 엔딩이예요.

2인 플레이시 엔딩이 심히 골때리죠. 혼자서 할때는 이어하기를 해야 굿엔딩이 나오는 Irem식 엔딩 내용도 그렇고....
@@ClunkiestAnt 솔직히 제가 이 게임을 처음으로 두명이서 플레이 했을 때 둘이 같이 당당히 귀환하는 엔딩이 나올거라 생각하고 있었는데, 갑자기 둘이 서로 싸워서 이긴 쪽이 적 생존병력을 모아서 새로운 악당으로 돌아서는게 저에게 있어서는 상당히 충격적인 엔딩이었죠. 심지어 공식 설정상에 의하면 주인공 2인은 서로 부부라고 하죠.
