Kelly Clarkson is PHENOMENAL! She is the most diverse singer on the planet! She has that magic of covering someone's song, and making it sound like it could have been a KC single.
They definitely hand picked these songs, nothing random about them. All of Ariana's songs were of artists from impression videos she's done a million times. However, that doesn't negate the fact that they sounded great and performed them flawlessly live. Love them both!

If was definitely prearranged, which doesn’t make it any less amazing. I’ve seen plenty of talk shows do truly random singing challenges and they are never so polished.

Like when they do the wheel of musical impressions, for example, that's based on a list of impressions the guest has said they can do. Which I think is pretty reasonable.
