Before you said "ingenious" that was what we said first. We also enjoyed hearing about your experiences as a young and hungry teenager and how that may have had an impact on your life choices. All the best, Dave and give that cold some rest time.

Good morning Karen and Kit, glad you enjoyed the story of my teenage years. I do believe my early exposure to the hills and outdoors helped me forge a path through life. I've just about got the cold under control but will take it easy and rest up for a few more days. It has been a mild autumn here, with the first frosts making an appearance only a few days ago. Stay safe. ATB, Dave

Happy new bike can't wait to see your adventures with it.. Have you considered an insulated roller door? Hormann rollmatic can come with an alarm build in as an optional extra. From what I remember when I automated your neighbours door your camper takes up alot of your drive, because the roller opens vertically you could keep the camper up close to the door. All the best.

Hi Graeme, I’m looking forward to getting out with the new bike. I’m still in the process of kitting it out and hope to have fully geared up for an early springtime adventure. As I write this, I’m on my way home from Bothy Bikes in Kingussie. I’ve just ‘bought’ another bike! The short version of this story is; the frame on my Genesis Caribou failed on a recent outing. The frame had a lifetime guarantee, but is not made anymore. So, I was compensated for the damaged frame. However, I located a second-hand Caribou and was able to do a deal whereby I built a complete bike from a mixture of new and old parts, some from my damaged bike. Why I do I relay this story? Because it explains why I can’t afford to buy a roller door. I certainly haven’t ruled out a roller door, I just need to save for a while and then see what I can get to fit my budget. If you are ever in the neighbourhood, please do call for a coffee and some bike chat, or a quick spin along the lanes on the bikes. ATB, Dave

Sorry I missed this on release date Dave, been overseas past 10 days, quite sure you will come up with an unpatented idea yet! Absolutely amazing nevertheless how you manage to
utilise so much space from your surrounds while keeping it so well organised. A job well done I'd say.

Hi Andrew, hope you had a good time on your travels. I enjoyed pottering away in my gear room, whilst trying to shake off the cold. I think I’m finally free from the lurgy. The extra floor space in the gear room makes such a difference when working away on my kit. I’ve not been out and about much recently but hope to get one vid filmed and released this month. Mo and I have some foreign travel planned before Christmas so it will be tight to fit in a trip, especially with the December weather to contend with. I have few ideas for a short trip so I’m hoping for a weather window and a free day or two. ATB, Dave

Nice setup Dave, you did a good job for sure, very tidy and strong looking, I thought about something similar for my bikes, I've got less bikes though, just the 4 lol, but they cover all my needs, my EMTB and Hybrid-E long distance tourer are not really suitable for hanging to be honest, as they're quite heavy. Love my Bikes more and more these days.. just getting ready for an early morning ride up the Ochil Hills for a wee change of scenery, train to Stirling and a day in the hills .. you canny beat it.. ATB Dave and Nice job on the DIY.

Thanks for the lovely comments. I think your number of bikes is optimum. I'd like to reduce my collection to four. This would include: My fattie for the really mucky stuff; my Surly Krampus 29er for mixing it up in the mountains, on single track and gravel roads,;my old vintage Raleigh Superbe for local rides; and, finally, I'm saving for a Surly Disc Trucker, which I'll set up with drop bars and narrower tyres, for use on lanes and forest tracks. Essentially it will be my 'long distance' bike. Hope you have a great ride in the Ochils, weather not looking today. ATB, Dave

Thanks, Sam, Next step is to ‘bridge’ the garage door with a shelf. I’ll let you know when it’s done and you can pop round for a look.
