I've watched Monte Cruz's videos in the past and they've done an amazing job as it's so very very dry where they live. Equally, when you look at what the Portuguese did in the past, with all the terraces, it makes sense today, as water was captured on the terraces, and didn't just run down a hill/mountain and wash away the good soil.
So many of us came here to embark on this lifestyle and many too, without the knowledge required. It is good to find content relevant to our region. Thanks for this.
Hazel ☘️ … That is a great system Monte Cruz have set up and such good strategic tree planting … thank you for taking us with you Diana and Jasper (Zoey, Akira and Lola, of course!) 🙏☘️😘
So impressed with what Monte Carlo have achieved in just 3 years of permaculture practice.. In another 3 years that land will look lush and fertile all year round. Looking forward to following the different stages of of future permaculture plans and projects in the ghost town..
Interesting subject, very nice that you show us the information you get from other people who already have experience with water management and permaculture.👍
U have some elevation on your land that allows for very interesting plans! Hope u can share your plan for your land on the future... tip, start with the water from the roofs and move from there! Good luck!
Raised beds work really well in Portugal. You just have to adapted to hot climates, geff Lawton had a video on it. I had a problem for 9y but than adapted and it works really well. I'm doing my water system this year. Loved the video and the Chanel. Hope to meet you guys one day.
Water retention is a long known and practiced method in arid areas. Because you have so much land to work with you can incorporate mulch and soil improvements practices also for greening. Biochar is something used by ancient South America natives in the Amazon which has very poor soils. Thanks for the video. You might look at Joel Saladin videos to see if you can use his soil build practices using chickens, and other farm animals. I think that tree is what we call a loquat (Eriobotrya japonica). It’s a large evergreen shrub or tree, grown commercially for its orange fruit and for its leaves which make tea.
This was a beautiful video showing how quickly nature responds to efforts made to revitalize the earth. Monte Cruz is doing amazing work out there, This reminds me of people trying to recapture rain water in the deserts of America's South-West, where the aquifers have been depleted by withdrawal of ground water for often wasteful human uses, irrigation, drinking, swimming pools, excessive pumping drying up wells, climate, etc. These are the people who may yet save our abused planet. Meanwhile, the fertile earth of Ukraine is being destroyed by a madman's slow-witted and egotistical actions.
So many areas that are draught prone in Portugal could benefit from this, all the land is DRAINED and lead the water into the rivers and into the oceans, instead of SOAKING the water into the ground. It would also help big time with the fire risks... But it isn't a snap of the fingers and it works... It takes YEARS but you can see differences already the first year after you made the change and from then on it just improves every year.
Is it not time to try and get a roof on your house before taking on too many other projects . ? Winter and the wet season is only just round the corner ! LOL
A POLITE REQUEST: Jasper - I have been a viewer and supporter from day one. Can I ask that you relay to your editor that the annimation between shots he has just started using (the fast 'film reel' scroll up) is causing serious issues for me (rare brain damage condition). I hoped it was a one off trial use (as I see he is trying other new effects) - but it seems he is continuing to use it and (for my health) I cannot watch your footage for this reason (I do try fast forwarding when I think this will come - but it still catches me out, and I want to watch it all! I understand that of course you can continue to use this effect - but needed to draw your attention to the problems it may cause other people with other issues. Much love from our ghost town in Cyprus!😎🌅🥰

Water is life, I can't wait to see different trees planted

Hello, beautiful lady friend of the portugal project. glad we can finally see your face and hear your voice.

Hi Jasper, I am very excited that you are planning to adopt permaculture principles. I look forward to see how things progress for you.
This was very interesting. Will look forward to how you transform your property.
Glad to see you getting into permaculture! I will be coming to Portugal soon and will be looking for land to regenerate! 👊🏼
Great information. Hopefully many wiil now also follow the Monte Cruz prohect.. which also looks very interesting 👌
I think it's great your interested in permaculture techniques... I think those techniques can help save the planet...😃
Totally agree... People put faith in new technology and science... But I think we need to go back to nature to get the solutions.. ..
Thank you so much for sharing this little tour was so informative.. many thanks

Fantastic video.. really interesting 👍👍
Loved the video. It was very informative and enjoyable.
Very interesting topic and such an important practice for the future
Enjoyed that greatly, very inspiring.
Ahh look up hydraulic ram pumps to deliver water up hill !!!!=8)
Great video! I've learned a lot and really want to see what kind of solution you' ll come up with in your land. Thank you

Very fascinating!=8)
Look for Tiny shine home on you/tube to learn more about berms and swales!! Very interesting!! Enjoy!! From South Africa.
Great info. Ty
Very interesting , thanks
The "girls" are going to love chasing frogs in your great water tank?
Frogs 🐸 eat the larvae. Yep no mosquitos.

did they say if the used Hügelkultur (pronounced “hoogle-culture”) in their raised beds?
From streams
are those permaculture system good for aquaponic system to grow vegetable like lettuce, tomatoes, peppers etc?
Very informative video but major distraction with Jasper constantly turning the camera on himself.
Check RUclips for diy hydraulic rams!=8)

agree
you didn't enable subtitles.
It's okay, let the dogs out, they are just like kids and want to be a part of the video. What are their names?
first!
Check online building beaver analog dams , you don’t need the beavers to succeed in there type of check dams
What is that guy Marco talking about? Twees? Tweez? Oh no! TREES!!
Twees..mostly :)
I was really hoping to see more of the actual farm but 15 minutes in the camera is almost always on the people, rather than on the farm. Bye! Bye!
As the guy said .a mini tractor would be more pragmatic than 2 "fun" quads!!!
A mini tractor for 2k.. please tell me where! :)
its easier to go follow them then rather than irrationally get upset
