As an ex-Lifeguard, IF the lifeguards were operating the slides properly, they will NOT allow the next rider down until the slide is clear of the previous rider. Clearly the “toilet bowl” 😂 Slide was not being properly “lifeguarded”.
Also wouldn't overcrowding the water slide break it eventually or cause it to collapse by weight of people. I will also say it is not properly lifeguarded due to amount of people on that slide.

Well, yes. At the very least they wouldn‘t allow for people to go onto the slide every 10 seconds or so.
I was at a water park where sides brought you down to different levels. After the first level, I hurt my back. I asked if I could get off the slide. They said no, (then how did they get up there?) they made me go through the rest of the ride. By the time I got to the bottom I could barely walk. They blew the whistle and closed the ride. I spent the next half hour answering shady questions by the staff. Seems they were more worried about being liable. After sitting out the day while my family went through the rest of the park I noticed a staircase system being used by staff for this ride. Pretty messed up.
Just wanted to share my trauma from when I was 9 years old… The Bahamas has this giant resort called the Atlantis. And they have their own water park, like 3 or 4 different slides (maybe more now) and one of them is an enclosed water slide that you have to sit in an inner tube for and it pops you out into this amazing enclosed glass spot at the end where you float through all kinds of fish and sharks etc. it’s actually really cool… But, it was our last day before heading home and my friends and I wanted to ride it one last time. But because there had been lightning earlier that day, they shut all the slides down and all of the people in line with their tubes, had to leave their tubes and walk back down. The lifeguards started sending all of the tubes down the slide thinning that they would be coming out the other end, just without any people one them. No one checked though to make sure the tubes came out, and they had created a blockage, a clog, of inner tubes and no one knew. We were like one of the first 10 people in line and I went down after my friend and I slammed so hard into this little boy desperately trying to climb UP the slide. He went down hard. Then I hit another person and then I hit the blockage. We were all panicking and the water was rising, slowly, but still rising. I also attempted to climb up the steep extremely slippery slid to get help. I got knocked down by another incoming rider. I broke my nose and had a cut on my forehead. I slid back down, crying and trembling. This adult, grabbed me and my friend and held us up so we wouldn’t go below the water that was rising. I thought we were going to die. I was young and so scared. Finally, they stopped sending people down and realized no one was coming out. Lifeguards started crawling up the exit of the slide to dig out all of the inner tubes. We started to see light (it’s an enclosed, dark slide until you hit the glass ocean part with the sharks) and the water started going down. I will never forget that day. It could have gone so much worse. But, it still gives me night terrors to this day. Not every night, but occasionally I have water slide night terrors and I wake up screaming and crying. Thanks for letting me vent this trauma.
God that sounds awful, good thing they paid *some* attention and stopped sending people down after a while.. and thanks for this lesson, never be among the first in a slide haha

Not sure if it's the exact same one, but I know that last incredibly steep water slide ride. They had one in northeast USA that was shut down after one person was very seriously injured (I think paralyzed) after falling off to the side and hitting the concrete deck below. I went on it once before it was shut down. It was terrifying. A bit too terrifying to be truly fun in fact. Very tall slide, like 4-5 stories, slide went vertical, practically inverted, so you lose contact and are essentially free falling for most of it. On top of this, the walls of the slide were disconcertingly shallow little things...just adding to the terror. You practically had to go through a quick certification class before you went on it with the operator at the top: Stay arms and legs tightly crossed, DO NOT move at all! DO NOT deviate from this posture, sign this waiver please (kidding on that, but almost) Let the ride take you and there's a much better chance you won't die. This is supposed to be fun?
I’m pretty sure you’re talking about the cliff diver in Long Island New York at splash splash. It’s more like 7-8 stories high. I’m from ny and use to go 1-2 times every summer . Just walking up to the top of the slide the stairs would shake back and forth if it was a little windy . And yeah once you sit down and you’re ready to go it’s scary as hell. All you see is blue the sky and trees in front of you bc the slide is so steep
I've actually been on the slide at 8:07, it's at Dollywood Splash Country in Tennessee, and it is on a giant wooden tower next to the wave pool. And yes, going down it is just as terrifying as in the video.
Make sure you ALWAYS keep your hands inside the water slide!!! People get their hands cut off when the hand goes around the edge and accidentally hits something on the outside surface of the water slide.
@@thedouglaspodcast ??? So, it's cool to lose your hand just because you decide to be careless? Obviously, it depends on the specific water slide design. If you are SURE there is no way your hand can hit something, OK. But in general, water slides can be pretty dangerous. For example, I knew an adult guy who broke both of his legs because he went swimming and the idiots told him he can use the water slide but they forgot to fill the landing tank with water! The poor guy fell from like 6 feet into the empty concrete tank at high speed. Took years to fix his legs to be at least OK.
3:34 a long time ago I had a friend in summer camp who went down a slide like this and actually flew off while we were all in line behind him and on some miracle he landed in a pool near the end of the ride, needless to say we all left the line after that

Has anyone heard about the slide (I think it was in Kansas) where a congressman’s kid went on it and was put with two older women (3 seater) and ordered the wrong way as he was around 80 pounds while one women was 180 and one was 220. The child ended up going flying into one of the half circles that the netting is draped on and decapitated. The ride was then permanently shut down.
I actually went down the first slide with my family a while ago, I thought we were gonna fall off since we got pretty close, but overall it was super fun
Yes I know they also have a very similar one at Aquatica. I remember going on with my mom and two other people and I almost fell off the raft. That was not cool 🤣🤣
I've always been so terrified of the trapdoor waterslides and have only ever been on one in my entire life so far. It just feels like I am going to fall to my death.
I'll never understand how people are so ok with going on slides with open sides like that, when I was a kid I went to a waterpark that is closed down now and I went down a huge slide, flew up into the air, landed halfway in and halfway out of the slide and had to hang on for dear life and pull myself back in and when I got back down everyone just acted like it was normal! I nearly freaking died I think about it all the time!
this is why i straight up refuse going on slides without a cover, because I've heard too many stories like this and I lord knows I'm probably light enough to catch air like you did lmaoo, regardless enough speed and the right angle will do it anyway.
In the town i grew up in south France, there was a water slide that have been closed up for years because a guy died in it, too much speed, too low walls... I guess those kind of stories happens all around the world..
@@lachyp7049 it’s even scarier on a boat. I went on the ‘Green Thunder’ on the Carnival Spirit or Legend I can’t remember which one. They had a countdown tho and I would always say “stop please stop” bc I was scared to go down.
That reminds me of an "interesting" experience when I was 19... Back then I was visiting some relatives outside Tel Aviv in Israel and they said let's go to this new amazing water park that just opened and I said sure I'd love to go there 🙂🙂 So I got on top of this unusually high waterslide ( it was much higher than anything else I had visited ) and the guy in charge just pushed me and I started sliding down untill I realized the "walls" were really low and the speed and the water kept pushing me dangerously close to the outside... At some point I felt my body leave the bottom of the slide as if I was flying... I landed back down hard 3 times until I reached the bottom on ground level and I ended up in a basin with a loud splash... Looking back I know that thing wasn't designed with safety in mind and I could have fallen off the slide at an height of at least 100 feet and died... That didn't stop me from enjoying safer waterslides over here in the US for the last decades but this one in Israel was really... Extreme...
There used to be a place in Orlando called Wet & Wild that had the best double helix water slide. It went through the perfect balance of fun to terrifying to finished, ending with a huge splash.
We used to go there. It was a great water park. You could bring your own cooler so you didn't have to buy drinks or food. It was traditional to "borrow" other people's inner tubes when they were on rides other than Lazy River. I wonder why they went out of business.
Ok 1 at 8:26 in the video that’s at splash country and it didn’t get shut down because it is actually the second most popular slide there and I went there only 4 weeks ago
Here's a question. What's with the scenes of the 18 wheelers and traffic ? I don't understand it's purpose in the videos. It doesn't tie into anything so I'm just trying to figure out the placement of the scenes purpose.
I have been on the slide that drops you straight down, but that one is always super smooth. My first time on I closed my eyes the whole time, and I was so worried some crack or dent would rip apart my back, I still stood in line anyways awaiting my turn. When I did go on, to my surprise, I felt as if I was floating, it was truly amazing, it’s as if they sent a giant piece of sand paper through the slide a thousand times till it was as smooth as the word smooth itself. So I can assure you, this slide is completely safe. (If you still don’t know what water slide I am talking about here is the time stamp) Time stamp: 1:11 Want to ride this slide? Go to: Orlando, FL Aquatica Ihu’s Breakaway Falls
As scary as that is, it's one of the easier designs to create. As long as the radius is large enough to not over accelerate the riders, it's not that big of a deal. The only complication comes from the resistance to motion from the water. And, even that's not that hard to deal with.
Oh, I don’t like half-open water slides and watching people getting near the edge or doing silly things up there is just too much stressing for me. I’ve always managed to get a really good speed on these and had a really few risky moments back then. After I realized this, I stopped on trying to get faster and rather went dosn in a slower way.
I would love to try the Switzerland waterslide with its great mountain views, or that Japanese slide with the fantastic light effects. Other people can keep their Aqua-Loops with vertical drops; I can't stand feeling like my stomach's leaping into my throat and those slides are too brief anyway. Give me longer slides with lots of twisty turns instead.
I've done a trapdoor waterside in Spain, terrifying but adrenaline boosting needless to say I went on it more than once, another time, I was very young the time I went on a water slide in Portugal I did fill as if I had come off the slide didn't feel safe plus, I'll already love the water slides in Japan.
Put the video at .25 speed, then pause it at 0:24. If a raft can go halfway off the edge of the slide like this that is poorly designed and should not exist to begin with and should be shut down immediately! Just a few more inches and this raft would have been at the point of flipping over and sending the occupants crashing to the ground!
Shoot My best friend and I used to live at Water Country in Williamsburg Virginia, this one slide went straight down and then you slide across the pool at the bottom. We'd run back up that three flights of steps and do over and over again, but I don't think I could do it more than once now. We also would go to Bush Gardens, that place was a blast as well. The big bad wolf had just opened up, and we rode that thing for a entire day over and over again. Our neighborhood wasn't even a mile away from the water park or theme park. Wow I miss those days, things were great back then. My parents made me move back to Georgia when my Jr year of football season was over, that was one of the hardest things that I had to do as a teenager. I had to leave my best friend and girlfriend, but the two of them hooked up after I got gone. That's ok because I hooked up with two of her Best friends the night before I left, Yes I said two of them.
The one at Brigerbad, Switzerland (around minute 4) looked fun. Parents with tiny kids came down pretty slow. Then i went and at some point accepted that i'll die now. I had to sit down for 10minutes right after leaving the end of the slide
I have seen so many videos of people flying over the edges on slides, getting stuck in the loops and even getting stuck in the trap door as it malfunctions and doesn't open all the way. So scary
4:14 I’ve been on a similar one and it’s not scary at all, it’s kinda like a elaborate slide. If you are easily frightened or don’t like scary rides it’s honestly perfect for someone who just wants some fun but no adrenaline kick.

@@luvpamelanewton So now instead of 1 person possibly getting minor injuries now 20 people have a MUCH higher chance of getting mild to severe injuries! Fantastic. They are selfish bastards. I would be throwing hands if they were in my way...
Like i mean wtf???? You can just fall and there is a really high height.
Nice you read through this
Time stamp?
I’m pretty sure you’re talking about the cliff diver in Long Island New York at splash splash. It’s more like 7-8 stories high. I’m from ny and use to go 1-2 times every summer . Just walking up to the top of the slide the stairs would shake back and forth if it was a little windy . And yeah once you sit down and you’re ready to go it’s scary as hell. All you see is blue the sky and trees in front of you bc the slide is so steep
Do you mean the slide "verruckt" in Kansas city?
I've actually been on the slide at 8:07, it's at Dollywood Splash Country in Tennessee, and it is on a giant wooden tower next to the wave pool. And yes, going down it is just as terrifying as in the video.
I was trying to figure out if that was splash country or not
I went to Dollywood, that ride was TERRIFYING. But it didn’t last long so that was fine
I live in Oak Ridge Tennessee we go here all the time love Sevierville Gatlinburg TN
I think it got shutdown... because of how dangerous it was.
I went on it a few years ago and it ripped skin off my back! I love water slides, but that one was just brutal.
All of these should exist.
Make sure you ALWAYS keep your hands inside the water slide!!! People get their hands cut off when the hand goes around the edge and accidentally hits something on the outside surface of the water slide.
Yes, and for some types of slide, it's a good idea to keep your hands crossed over your chest until you hit the bottom.
Nah
You should be ready to swim.

Verrükt, I remember wanting to ride that thing before the kid got decapitate

my exact reason why I got my ass off of one of these rides, cus hell no
same!!!!! i tried one time just for the experience but i'd never get on one again 😭
Was this video sponsored by Clustertruck?!
The one with the lights is cool...love that 35 second one...very beautiful scenery...
This thumbnail tells me someone opened a wormhole in the slide
Classic Waterslides in Utah has some slides with sharp turns
4:58 That slide looks brilliant be like being flushed down a toilet lol

Whenever I see people doing these nonsense in the water slides, I immediately blame the lifeguards for not doing their job.
I’ve been on a trapdoor waterslide before and the drop is so scary
Edit: omg tysm for 20 likes
I have never been on one
Yeah I have as well years ago and it’s a lot scarier when you are under the weight limit and barely make it to the top of the loop in the slide
Der Stuka at Wet and Wild in Orlando was like that. They say Der Stuka is German for "The Wedgie."
@@lachyp7049 it’s even scarier on a boat. I went on the ‘Green Thunder’ on the Carnival Spirit or Legend I can’t remember which one.
They had a countdown tho and I would always say “stop please stop” bc I was scared to go down.
All I could think of was Rasputia coming extremely fast down the slide yelling, "I'm Sliding Bitchessss" 😂🤣
That reminds me of an "interesting" experience when I was 19...
Back then I was visiting some relatives outside Tel Aviv in Israel and they said let's go to this new amazing water park that just opened and I said sure I'd love to go there 🙂🙂
So I got on top of this unusually high waterslide ( it was much higher than anything else I had visited ) and the guy in charge just pushed me and I started sliding down untill I realized the "walls" were really low and the speed and the water kept pushing me dangerously close to the outside...
Extreme...
Omg so sorry that happened that’s so scary

I have been on the slide that drops you straight down, but that one is always super smooth. My first time on I closed my eyes the whole time, and I was so worried some crack or dent would rip apart my back, I still stood in line anyways awaiting my turn. When I did go on, to my surprise, I felt as if I was floating, it was truly amazing, it’s as if they sent a giant piece of sand paper through the slide a thousand times till it was as smooth as the word smooth itself. So I can assure you, this slide is completely safe.
(If you still don’t know what water slide I am talking about here is the time stamp)
Time stamp: 1:11
Want to ride this slide? Go to:
Orlando, FL
Aquatica
Ihu’s Breakaway Falls
As scary as that is, it's one of the easier designs to create. As long as the radius is large enough to not over accelerate the riders, it's not that big of a deal. The only complication comes from the resistance to motion from the water. And, even that's not that hard to deal with.
3:26
The lifeguard at the bottom:
*"WHY ARE THERE SO MANY OF YOU COMING OUT AT ONCE-"*
The issues people had with the last slide were probably the unwanted, unexpected chlorine enemas they got.
😂🤣
5:10 - Wow.. so captivating.. 🙄
Oh, I don’t like half-open water slides and watching people getting near the edge or doing silly things up there is just too much stressing for me. I’ve always managed to get a really good speed on these and had a really few risky moments back then. After I realized this, I stopped on trying to get faster and rather went dosn in a slower way.
yes one time i went of one and put my hands up and was on the EDGE. Scariest moment of my life .
It's awesome! Like getting flushed down a toilet!😂😂😂

Out of these slides that water slide with the lights in Japan I'm really amazed by the most
I've done a trapdoor waterside in Spain, terrifying but adrenaline boosting needless to say I went on it more than once, another time, I was very young the time I went on a water slide in Portugal I did fill as if I had come off the slide didn't feel safe plus, I'll already love the water slides in Japan.

You're totally right. All that laughing and giggling makes me not want to do these.
This was a video I actually enjoyed

8.59 minutes thats gone forever
That one that had the walls that make you go back and forth was almost like the cliffhanger at venture River
Imagine if Homer Simpson went into any of these water slides.
The one at Brigerbad, Switzerland (around minute 4) looked fun. Parents with tiny kids came down pretty slow.
Then i went and at some point accepted that i'll die now. I had to sit down for 10minutes right after leaving the end of the slide
Some of the most dangerous rides are the most exciting lol
I have seen so many videos of people flying over the edges on slides, getting stuck in the loops and even getting stuck in the trap door as it malfunctions and doesn't open all the way. So scary
Honestly water slides scares me I never go on them 💀🤚🏼
