Good thorough review sir. I was particularly glad to see the part where it only properly reads resistance down to a certain value before it reads continuity. Nice lil multimeter for the price but would work well for small resisters. Appreciate your testing

Received mine today. Great meter. Thanks for info on no fuse protection. Good to know.

Its cool that they include a carrying case, good batteries and the probes look to be of decent size wire gauge...

🎶 Don't want no short short probes! 🎶 Lol great video and looks like a decent meter.

I like this. My voom's a Global's (sic) brand YX-360tres analog meter witha D'Arsonval movement (made guess where?) that I picked up at True Value hardware a couple of years ago when I was thinking about building a coaxial colinear antenna for ADS-B just to use for continuity testing. It was the only multimeter they had. Protip: if you don't have an auto-sensing, auto-ranging multimeter leave it set to the highest AC value before you put it away so you don't destroy it from leaving it set to DC or restsiance then go and try to measure AC viltage for instance.

Did you look on the back of the board to look for 600V protection?

I didn't take it out BUT poking around I didn't see a replaceable fuse.

Can I not manually choose the setting to switch to like AC or DC mode?

Pretty cool. Nice to see a cheap auto-sensing multimeter. I'd get it but shipping was more than the cost of the meter. Lol

That shipping is how they get you Don...

For what it costs it's not bad. Great review Ape.

It actually comes with brand name batteries not some no name junk that will leak in a few month. That alone is worth consideration.

You only tested ohms in auto mode if you set the meter manually its resolution would be far more accurate

Thanks for watching part of the video! This meter only has Auto mode, you can't change it.

If you manually put it into resistance is there any difference in the readings for the lower values?

    • @TheSmokinApe
      @TheSmokinApe  Год назад +1

Hey Steven, from what I can tell you can't change the mode.

@@TheSmokinApe I've tried a couple of these auto ranging meters, and had trouble with them all. I had on that I had an issue with my ic 7300 rebooting over and over. You could see the meter on the PSU dropping to about 11 volts and the radio would shut down, the power would jump hack up and the radio would turn on. I found out it was a common problem with the PSU and just needs a new cap to fix it. I just put it an locked power at 12.8v. No more problem. But the meter I had just bought was all over the place. 12v here 50v there or 1v on this post. had me chasing my tail for days. Dug out one of dads old analog meter, and 12.8v perfect no movement with or without the radio. I have thrown out 4 or 5 now. As cheap as this one is I might try it.

I have some auto ranging that I like, but to you point I will typically put them in a manual range if it acts goofy.

It would be good to keep in a carry bag...for accurate work I prefer Fluke meters but that's just my useless opinion..lol

I keep a DMM at work for checking batteries, this might be the replacement.
