- so I decided to look over Undertale's art book to see if there was anything interesting that I could find and theorize about. and I found a LOT to theorize about.
I mostly cover Undertale stuff in this but there is a fair amount of Deltarune stuff in the video too so you will want to stick around.

Something interesting is that the savepoint in Undertale is basically a star, which makes sense since Frisk is a human from the surface
Yeah in Deltarune and Undertale the save points are both stars! i think its pretty interesting I wonder if it means anything greater. it probably wont but who knows.
Which means the Titans also symbolize the Surface/Light World!

So, this means that the darkners are some things like toys or cards, you know stuff like that

Knowing that Toby has been thinking of creating Deltarune (or a story based on the ending he dreamed of) before Undertale, and Undertale was meant to be a prototype to test his skills, I am very convinced by the scrapped Ice Cave model. It's very possible that the Angel may have gone through some form of design change in the meantime, but it's likely we'll be able to look at this in the future by the time the entirety of Deltarune will have been released, and we might be able to see patterns in this that hint at the plot that we can't now. Looking forward to it. Overall, this whole cave art on its own looks like a prototype for what we would have nowadays. That definitely has some form of connection to the story of the "DELTA RUNE", I'm pretty sure the iconography is on point.

And wait yea holy shit remember during the spamton sweepstakes there was a part where Noelle brought up that she was playing a game and found an ice palace, but it had a whole maze and a door that couldn't be opened and along with that the hidden page that had showed said ice palace maze?? I think this could tie into the whole ice cave concept art very well, I think that's very well what toby is trying to lead up to and hinting towards, like just with the amount of importance it seems to hold it feels very certain that's what it's meant to be and I think it could tie very well into the lore in the future in some way, it definitely has some sort of big connection we're unaware of right now, there's no way it doesn't along with the fact that the concept art of the ice cave showing that it has a very clear connection to the angel, which Noelle is *very* heavily implied to be said angel. probably one of the very late chapters I'd assume there will be some sort of ice cave in one of the dark worlds which would be fuckin awesome
2:47 In deltarune's files theres an enemy (obj_placeholderenemy) which uses Rudinn's sprites, it serves an unused placeholder for testing. However, If you modify the code this enemy will be named as ECHIDNA with the following battle message:
* You've come again to this wonderful place.
* Now tear off the mask beneath your face!
In greek mythology, Echidna is a gigantic snake-like monster acknowledged as "The Mother of Monsters". It might mean something or maybe not, still an interesting detail nonetheless.
oh yeah I remember hearing that form a video but I completely forgot about it yeah, you could be 100% right about that. that would be cool
that does seem relevant to the old art of the deltarune. that seems like the most important piece of lore in this book.

i just think it's a cool placeholder name, toby loves having interesting placeholders such as the interactablesolid placeholder: "* Suddenly, your body freezes up. What are you looking at?" i think that one's pretty clever, since it plays on the fact that you can't move while a dialogue box is present
Two things I'd like to point out. One: notice how the picture of the angel on the wall has antlers. Two: the dreemurs were supposed to be dragons, which is probably why that one sprite of toriel was so reptilian looking.

3:35 IIRC the room is called "Room_hapstablook" in the files. Which was probably MTTs name prior to getting his body. Further reinforcing that assumption is that it's similar to, but not quite the same as, Papyrus' "headcanon" name, "Happstablook, the happy ghost", which Undyne describes as wrong. Turns out, Papyrus' logic was wrong but he still lucked his way into being almost right.
4:35 Yeah, Toby has also confirmed elsewhere that Heartache was originally made for the same game and was originally called Joker Battle, meaning it might have originally been Jevil's battle theme. Thankfully, he used it for Undertale, TWR fits Jevil way better.
7:20 It's probably the way the eyes are drawn, makes it look almost like he has glasses.
9:50 ...Wait, people didn't already realize that Asriel and Chara were the two versions of the Angel? Frisk was only ever the one who guided said Angel to do the thing, a harbinger of sorts, not the one who did the deed. Asriel broke the barrier, he's the more optimistic, "monsters return to the surface" version of the angel. Chara put the world out of its misery, they're the morbid, "angel of death" version of the angel. While they both decided to do these things because of what they learned from Frisk, both of them decided to do it entirely on their own. As far as I knew, this was already considered fact, and it's pretty clearly the intended interpretation.

The part about Asriel and Chara both being the Angel is so smart! I never realized that until now.. but it makes so much sense!
i read the room being named hapstablook as a way for his "ghost" name to not be revealed. its a metaphor for his deadname thats not something that really should be revealed lol

If that was the intent, the room would be named "happstablook", the name explictly described in-game as being incorrect, as opposed to something merely similar that sets up the obvious joke of Papyrus being almost correct for the entirely wrong reasons.
While it's true that revealing a trans person's dead name without permission is kinda not cool, it's questionable whether Mettaton is intended to be literally trans or just an analogy, and entirely unknown how he feels about his former name beyond that he doesn't use it anymore. Some trans people are quite open about their deadnames.

hey that's an interesting concept the the asriel above all the rest of them did have a rainbow heart and wings. maybe they were meant to shift colors like you said or maybe shift on there attack or something? that would be cool
* I think something else supporting the character being "Kris" originally is, look at the HP and EN things under Ness' name. That's literally the EXACT colours of Kris' shirt.

12:37 while that is interesting, the actual designs for those Deltarune characters were made by a different artist, not Toby. But I do agree that maybe the sun and moon concepts influenced their designs.
yeah there not exactly the same but I think they where defiantly at least inspired my them.
8:13 The line “an angel gets its wings” is a reference to the Christmas movie ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’. The original line was “Every time a bell rings an angel gets its wings”. It probably doesn’t have that much significance in my opinion, I think Toby was just making a joke lol.
yeah i agree that it was probably just a joke lol. but I didn't know the line was from 'its a wonderful life' cool.
The joke was about him wanting to murder all people saying boss Asriel is hot. He added the angel with wings because that's lietrally Asriel. So in a way he just said that when some says Asriel is hot, Asriel will come and murder them.
im pretty sure toby had the idea for deltarune before undertale, but he made undertale to test if he could make deltarune
yeah I believe he said somewhere that he originally had the idea for deltarune before Undertale but they only made one room before they quit and moved onto Undertale.
About 9:21 if you look closely to Asriel’s final form you can see that he actually looks a lot like the Deltarune emblem, so I guess this is actually the intension, that he is in fact the angel from the prophecy.

6:02 Perhaps pink attacks which more clearly differentiated what you can interact with and what you can't, similar to how blue attacks were repurposed in Deltarunes spamton fight, that, but it also works with other Soul gimmicks.
Basically a much more clear and obvious indicator than light blue used in spamton and Undyne that doesn't conflict with snowdin's lessons
6:18 I don't think that would be the case with the pink soul, but the orange one based on the orange/blue attacks. If it were similar to the Purple soul, I think it'd be something like having 9 dots and instantly going from one to another when pressing an arrow key with the attacks popping up from the ground (similar to the Memoryhead attacks).
yeah that is a lot more closer to the purple attack's to that's a good idea.
* No, I think that's more how the light blue SOUL would have worked (note that we never get a light blue or orange SOUL mode, just light blue and orange attacks)
* Light Blue would likely be the one to have boxes you jump to, akin to Mad Mew Mew's fight that uses half of the light blue SOUL anyway, and then Orange would be the one where you just keep moving if you hit an arrow key
* Also, I doubt pink and purple need to have any correlation, because light and dark blue SOUL modes have no real correlation (if anything its light blue and orange that correlate, and they're opposites on the colour spectrum)

yeah I defiantly agree that its likely that more characters will be inspired by this art book. and about the G guy yeah he does kind of look like some like goner or one of gasters followers doesn't it
I did some experimenting Theorycrafter, and the TTS I used pronounces Flowey almost correctly with this spelling "fwowey". Feel free to use it if you would like!

Okay so for the deltarune symbol, i actually see it as two humans, a monster and an angel (based on how the triangle are up and down). In undertale it could be seen as the two humans with the help of a monster, asriel, created/woke up/becamr an angel and saved everyone (i'm basing this only on the pasifist ending, and yes chara as a pretty important role to play in it too). For deltarune thought it's a bit harder to speculate what it means especially because they are so little actually story content available yet, but i would say the player and kris are going to play two diffirent roles at some point, and if i follow my logic kris and the player, along with another monster like noel, could be the once awaking an angel.
yeah an interesting theory. I've had my thoughts on if for a while but not enough to make a full theory on it. but its kind of hard to theorize about in my opinion because you not only trying to solve the meaning of it in 1 game but 2 which sure defiantly have a lot of similarity's but I feel like the "main concept" of the story is fairly different. but I believe there somewhat made to represent the same thing throughout both games, though maybe not the exact same I think there's a lot of evidence for the Deltarune in Deltarune representing the "delta warriors" but in Undertale its a little bit hard to say mainly because the "arrows" or triangles are kind of inconsistent in there order. sometimes only 2 of them are facing down and sometimes only one. and tbh toby fox isn't shy on referencing other video games so I think the Deltarune is defiantly a reference to the triforce from zelda.

1:20 if you (somehow) skip the name screen you will get “CHARA”
In the fangamer/gametest7 demo (which is most likely when this was taken) there was no naming screen so they played as CHARA through the play through
2:31 I just noticed this in Deltarune(the game) the prophecy Ralsai recites says that 3 heros will appear at the worlds edge(3 triangles at the bottom of the symbol) in order to banish the angels heaven (angel shown at the top of the symbol)
What? I thought everyone believed that Asriel was the angel... they didn't?
I thought most people believe that frisk was the angel foretold in the prophecy.

5:50 blue and cyan (the colour you call light blue) actually aren't as similar as you think they are. If you look at a rgb colour wheel the distance between cyan and blue is the same as the distance between red and yellow. If anything cyan should be there over orange

edit 2: I actually quite like your star theory, I think its still true in the actual game because of waterfall alone but to a lesser extent than was maybe planned
yeah about the first part I didn't pick the best images for it lol. the shop keeper one is usually a bit obscured by the shop lady so I thought I show it since it was likely that not many people have seen the full image unobscured plus it just looks nice IMO. and the "judgment hall" one I just thought it was neat. and I'm glad you like my "star theory" again I don't think it means anything really lore wise I just think its interesting.

in my opinion both versions of the angel in undertale are us (or frisk). referring to chara as the angel of death feels wrong to me considering it wasn't their choice to initiate the genocide route, it's more so us that chooses to free the monsters of the underground in either version.

I don't know why Toby sleeps on Deltarune so much is he working on it or not we havent heard anything since the chapter 2 included version unless some messages in the email from toby i don't know why we haven't heard anything on the last remaining chapters i know developing a game is hard to be faithful to the story and the fan base but cmon man where is it 😂😂😅
I mean tbh out of all the game developer's he is a pretty active in the community. He posts on twitter not only about Deltarune and Undertale but other stuff like that, theirs also the anniversary streams of Undertale and the Spamton sweepstakes event where he raised a lot of money for charity and not only that he foreshadowed some stuff in chapter 3, that and the seasonal newsletter ide say he is fairly active in the community in my opinion (at least a lot better than company's like valve is). Though I've already said it above the anniversary of Undertale is coming up (on the 17Th) so maybe toby fox also has some Deltarune stuff planed like when they played Deltarune chapter 1. But than again since the Spamton sweepstakes was fairly resent its probably not going to be anything too big. Who knows

@1:01 i don't use scraped stuff at all since if it was scrapped it never fit the vision the dev's or creators intended for the game.
using it feels like including something that was never meant to be used in the first place.
like digging through the files is fine that's all stuff that made it into the game's code in someway
but art work or stuff not in the files especially scrapped stuff just feels wrong.

yeah its because we are tied to the deltarune once again gerson talks about it how it represents the freedom of monsters and about how some people think it means the "underground going empty" means death instead of actual freedom.
which ties back to us the player being an angel of "light or death" since we make the underground go empty.

yeah Chara is dead but in the game its presumed that frisk is at least Undertale the influence?/ maybe possessed due to the fact Flowey says quote "Even more powerful than you and your stolen soul." and the fact that when you interact with the mirror it says "its you NAME" its defiantly implied that Chara is in possession of Frisk's soul. though that's my interpretation of it . And your free to have your own thoughts and theories on it. but that's what I interpreted it as.
