Excellent video! I've been applying 1 lb per 1,000 sq ft every month to my front lawn about 4,000 sq ft. It's expensive, but one 30 lb bag lasts 7.5 months at this rate. Cost is roughly $12/month. I do it monthly so it creates a somewhat layering affect in the soil. We've had a drought for the majority of this year and I can't believe how it held on to the green compared to my other 20,000+ sq ft. I may go heavier when I core aerate, though, but that's only once or twice a year. Keep up the great work!
Living in NW Ohio, about 30 miles from The Anderson's warehouse, we have the luxury of buying many of their products at STEEP discounts to the list price. I regularly apply HumicDG and BiocharDG with my monthly fertilizer applications. My soil is slowly turning around. The Anderson's products are top notch!
Used Andersons HumiChar and Lesco Carbon Pro G before. Both worked well. The Carbon Pro G is cheaper but also a little harder to spread since the prills are larger, but both seemed to help over time.
Mr Fergy! Man! Your lawn at home is looking great! I ordered my GCI fertilizer today... The shipping is really high but I guess I am spoiled by Amazon! I still have baby grass in a lot of areas..hopefully this new fertilizer will kick it up a notch.
Thanks for this info. Definitely cheaper and able to pick up at a local SiteOne spot near me. I don’t have to worry about the hefty shipping price (almost the same price as the item). Will give this item a try. Thanks again.
My lawn has been having drought stress as well. Odd for being in late October. We did get some rain today and more in the forecast so that's a blessing. That new fert from GCI is definitely on my radar for next month.
I've seen & heard a lot about Andersons Bio Char DG, all good. So, another great experiment by Mr.F., cool. Looking forward to the results of the soil test on the project lawn. How many doughnuts per mile did you consume, lol. Another learning lesson -should have put your Earthway Spreader into the truck for the Project lawn. Any idea why the hose needs to be completely out of the reel in order to get pressure? Time for a new Hose? Curious minds want to know! Long vid (by your standards) but informative, thanks.
All I use is Anderson products. They disperse immediately with contact to Water . My grass is Jonathan green solar that I planted three years ago. Too bad I can’t send you any pictures. It is so green. I just put the Anderson’s new product on two days ago “dark green lawn “ that product is amazing. I am in South Carolina. Now is about the time of year where people pull over and ask “ what kind of grass do you have. Then they ask to talk to my husband, I tell them I don’t have one. They can’t believe I take care of my lawn. lol Both of my neighbors have warm season centipede grass. So it makes my lawn look amazing. By the way, I have that same Scott speeder . I have never had an issue. It probably doesn’t like you. lol great videos.
My first spreader was a Scott’s Mini it was the cheapest model they had at Lowe’s this was before I knew anything about lawn care it was taken to the landfill a while back, I presently have an Echo RB60 which I would rate as the best of the “budget” spreaders it does frustrate me from time to time. I do have 1.5 acres to spread my next spreader will either be a Lesco 50 lb model or a tow behind I am leaning towards a tow behind. The Chapin is on the top of my list they have the only model that will stop dropping material when you stop pulling
At what point is it worth putting down more seed to fill in the gaps? I'm about 3 weeks and things are looking...thin in some parts. No rain at all, and back in the low 80s as well today.
I’m so glad you discovered the issue about water pressure! I may be in market for new spreader. I’ve always been partial to drop spreaders. Any reason I should go to a broadcast spreader? Although I loved “ the kick”, I think I got a bigger chuckle out of the spreader being in “time-out” 😂 Have a great Fall weekend.
You probably fixed it with that kick😅. I have the same issue with anything over 5lbs in the spreader will get stuck. Very disappointed with the Scott’s Elite Spreader.
Glad I alerted you to the new fert. To give everyone a sense of the unusual fall dryness..we've had exactly .18 of an inch of rain for the entire month of October, and there's none in the seven day forecast. #doughnuts
Maybe keeping your spreader outside is causing the cables, springs, etc to rust. Causing the doors on the hopper not to open. Also, you seem to be stressing out lately, please take care of yourself man. At the end of the day it’s only grass, don’t stroke out about it. Your family needs your around for at least the next 100 years.
@@desmorider747 I hope your joking friend lol. I’m not stressed at all, especially over a spreader lol. It’s for a laugh friend. Yes it’s annoying, but it was well kept and that’s not the issue at all. It’s the product. I’m all good, believe me. Some things are simply for entertainment, but I do appreciate the concern! Thanks for watching!
I don't believe that the biochar dg is charged with fertilizer which means you are putting a dry sponge into the lawn which will leech up any fertilizer you intended for the grass. Just a heads up when using it in the future.
If the rest of the church lawn isn't absorbing water and pooling like that spot when you walked up to the hose you may want to look at a wetting agent to break that barrier.. that Scott's spreader issue was a simple adjustment fix,
@@Chevxjoe No, the water ran all night long by mistake lol. That’s why it was puddled. I’ve tried messing with that spreader many a times. For over $100, it’s garbo.
You be surprised how much water those trees are sucking up even they are in the back of your lawn. One tree that is one foot around can suck up one hundred gallons of water a day.
If I was you, I would only soak it for the first day for 12 hours and then take it out and then maybe dunk it in the bucket maybe a couple times a day ( too keep seed wet)and take it out so the seed gets oxygen!!! Seed needs oxygen
@@robertellis2717 I’m just going off Milorganite instructions. I do let it sit out and drain a few minutes while I change water, but it seems to be working. Worked at project lawn too.
Loooooool that kick was HILARIOUS! Yeah I’ve moved away from Scott’s almost entirely. Even when their spreaders work, you may have issues with even distribution because it’s made specifically for Scott’s products ( prill size). I’ve got the elite spreader and I’ll be checking out the earthway once it kicks the bucket. Honestly there are much better products that are actually CHEAPER! I’m glad your yard has bounced back is mostly back to form. That new fertilizer from Pete looks great. I’ll definitely check it out. Have a good weekend!
I am blown away how well humichar has worked on my lawn. Incredible results, I have pics but you would hardly believe them.
