He plays a better solo at the end but his sound is weird, the first solo he messed it up, but he was improvising and it appends you don't have it on that night. But he is amazing.
there could be many reasons for a weak performance. As it's been said in comments bellow, he's getting older... maybe they didn't get to sound check or rehearse before this.... many things... the outcome of a band is always so volatile and surrounded by circumstances. But it doesn't change the fact he set a new level for guitar playing.
Love Eric Johnson, and his tone. He's one of my biggest influences. But I didn't really like his clean tone on this particular night, it sounded thinner than usual, and I didn't like his delay settings.
Because his huge amount of effects can cover the flaws in his playing normally. When he has a raw sound you hear more sloppiness. But all guitarists sound this "sloppy" with a natural sound.
Great song! The perfomance is good but the sound isn't (on this particular video). The guitar is too sharp and everything else is too flat. Still i like it =)
Genius. I can look back and say I got to see Eric Johnson
QUE HERMOSO TEMA , ES UN MAESTRO ERIC NO HAY COMO EL ; SU MÚSICA ME TRANSPORTA A OTRA DIMENCION
Best part 0:00-4:59
UR the man
Gracias Eric Johnson!
Who will never love EJ's sweet water sound
Who could possibly dislike that?!
A true master of the guitar!
Eric is amazing as always.🖒🖒🖒
Wow those volume swells leading to that chord at the end... incredible
couldn't agree more !
Men is they most beautiful guitar sound that i never heard in my life :'3
Eric's lead tone and EVH's brown sound are the best tones in guitar music history.
Magični Video agreed..and both with Marshall amps and strat type guitars...hmmmm I sense a real pattern here lol
completely agree ;)
Kono Petar Da!
this song is so smooth. one of my fav EJ song.
Amazing performance!
Eric Johnson on an off night is still phenomenal!!
Lol on an off night 😂 joke comment

NEVERMIND !! u r my best !
Gotta love this guy
Magic
Esse cara esta de parabens.
Guys remember there wasn't as much of a full band backing him up on this one... So he had to change it up to make it sound fuller
Here we have a hymn of an era
Great sound ! :)

*(OFFICIAL) Eric Johnson band @ Accadia Blues 2012 - "Manhattan" - 21/07/2012*
Simple genial
That intro reminds of Tender surrender by Vai!
wow wow wow !!!
Genial
Who else loves the triplet drum fill at 3:30?
Easily achieved by single strokes with the dominant hand, paired with ghost noted double strokes on the snare.
que bonito
Eeicjohnson is the best
The Best
I was there
Good, but does not overcome the G3 performance. The best IMO
Marco Aurélio Sperança that was an epic show from start to finish and Eric’s Manhattan was indeed phenomenal
His first solo not so good, seems lost just a little ... G3 performance is Amazing.
Also the drummer playing the G3 version was the best, IMO.
@@evensteven8129 yes Brennon Temple is a groove drummer.
Agreed.
Que onda esta curado?
So lush ... sweet tones.
those are some gigantic strings he's using..
Wow I only noticed that now
Reminds me of a faster Tender Surrender. Very much an Eric stamp on it though.
James Carmichael funny this song was composed before 1984
Yo creo que este tiene futuro
Paco Cruz Molina Jajajaja sarcasmo?
nice
Eric e Fender ... uma carne só
Awwww my ex loved this music
Are they in hurry? something unusual this time.
hes 62, and looks very young still.
A little bit sped up but this version is really good.
But i am also very interested to see the Bass how it was carried out.....
This bass player. Anyone knows his name?
Bobba Feth
I think it's Chris Maresh. Look at Alien Love Child album
Such an amazing performance but I think it was quite better the one at the G3 concert...
Fucking epic!!!
He plays a better solo at the end but his sound is weird, the first solo he messed it up, but he was improvising and it appends you don't have it on that night. But he is amazing.
MANHATTAN
very tasteful
Very tasteful indeed
This song is difficult @.@
Ya.
Doesnt the bass player look like the young Boba Fett?
I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought that.
who is the author of "manhattan"?
louie verdin my mom
louie verdin Apparently Eric Johnson himself. It appeared on his 1996 Venus Isle album.
+MrCorvusC And was written by Eric at least as early as 1984, according to Austin City Limits.
+louie verdin darude

This has a more raw sound so you can hear roughness more.
alguien que hable español?
+Juan Manuel Alonso Leon aquiiiiiii
this doesn't sound like him.. what happened to eric?
yeah... I found that he never plays his songs like the studio versions. /: but I still love him! (:
Sometimes with really sexy girl we get so excited we rush like crazy. Guitar can be similar

this time his guitar sound more "bright"
Something happened... I think he was just out of synch from the very beginning , out of his mojo. Like in a rush. Still good. G3 was the best of all.
Great song! The perfomance is good but the sound isn't (on this particular video). The guitar is too sharp and everything else is too flat. Still i like it =)
no more guitarist had such hard fingering in songs ever
not the best but he is JAMMIN! such a great groove to this song
His bassist forgot the groove , please change the bass player Mr. johnson -.
Got caught drinking.
Amazing stuff, but maestro not at his best :(
Eric...fucking hurry up and finish and get paid I got to get back to Ellen and degeneres my overlord
