Glad I was too. I've been getting a huge nostalgia hit playing it on RUclips again, from ones you still hear often to others heard scarcely since then,on a long, slow journey through the 80s. In 1985 there were first arctiles that called Madonna a Queen of Pop. I'm not surprised. She had so many big hits that year - In to the Groove, Material Girl, Crazy for You. Smooth Operator,Careless Whisper and One Night in Bangkok were all released in the UK and in the charts here in the later half of 1984,the first two of those already by the end of the summer. They must have been released in the US in 1985,though. Great list as always.
Careless Whisper was the earliest of the songs in this video to hit big in the UK,ending the reign of Two Tribes by Frankie Goes to Hollywood at number 1 in August 1984. On the other hand Rock Me Amadeus, having already been big round Europe, took until the spring of 1986 to shoot to the top over here. Too Late For Goodbyes,Never Ending Story,Private Dancer and Lay Your Hands on Me also became hits here in the last quarter of 1984,and Everything She Wants was on a double A-side with Last Christmas that sold enormous amounts and would have been Christmas Number 1 had it not been for Band Aid. Shout,I Want to Know What Love Is and I Know Him So Well entered the UK charts by the end of 1984 but rose to their peak in the earliest weeks of 1985.

In 1985 there were first arctiles that called Madonna a Queen of Pop. I'm not surprised. She had so many big hits that year - In to the Groove, Material Girl, Crazy for You. This is a special year for me as well. Some of my all-time favorite songs were released in 1985 - Smooth Operator (Sade), Summer of '69 & Heaven (Bryan Adams), Maria Magdalena & In the Heat of the Night (Sandra), Cloudbusting & Running Up That Hill (Kate Bush), One Night in Bangkok (Murray Head), We Don't Need Another Hero (Tina Turner), Careless Whisper (George Michael), All at once (Whitney Houston)

Show.
