  • Source is a new online resource providing access to digitised collections held in the Irish art archives at the National Gallery of Ireland.
Discover fascinating stories from the archive, like this account of how Irish painter Walter Osborne (1853-1903) used his collection of photographs of Dublin life to record and study scenes of everyday life, sometimes even using them as the primary source for a painting! His painting of Saint Patrick's Cathedral Close was directly inspired by a photograph he owned - both the painting and the photograph are part of our collection.
Source has been developed with support of funding from the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, and is free and accessible to all.
ESB sponsor the ESB Centre for the Study of Irish Art.
