fun fact, the frequency of keys on the piano actually follow a geometric progression (almost). That is, the frequency each key is about 1.059 (12th root of 2) times the one before it. If the black keys weren't there then there would be some gaps. I think minutephysics has a video on this. Also I've seen them being used in some songs.
