- How to play the theme music to GAME OF THRONES! This tutorial is designed for recorder, but also fits on flute, oboe, guitar, piano, any melody instrument in C. I show you the notes on the screen, the do-re-mi letters, and recorder players can watch my fingers :)
I play the theme in 2 versions:
00:44 - A minor (easier to play, fits nicely on the soprano recorder)
03:09 - C minor (much harder to play, but the original key so you can play along with the actual theme. Fits on the alto or soprano)
If you learn the tune, make a video and send it to me!!

Hey! I just wanna say that I love your enthousiasm and how you’re so friendly. Just keep doing this, you’re an amazing person and I think your tutorials are really helpful towards other players!
Thank you! 🙏🏼😘
I just started really trying to learn the recorder. Thank you so much.
Teach medieval music on sweet flute plss
Yeah that would be awesome ,like tempus est iocundum or trotto
Pleaaaase! Do a Concerning the Hobbits' (The Shire) video.
Thank you your vidéo are so helpful I restart the recorder recently because I played it when I was 8 and i stop. i recently change my yamaha plastic recorder wich i was very happy about for a moeck wooden one and I am litteraly in love with it the sound is so nice .I am so glad I discovered your channel.your English is very clear so I understand things well and i really improve my technics so much . Sorry if i made mistake but I am french so my English is not perfect
Your English is great, and enjoy the flute a bec! ❤️
I'm curios if you think songs like this are suited to the recorder, because I love hearing baroque recorder songs, but whenever I try to play a modern song that I love, or a movie soundtrack song on the recorder, I don't like how it sounds at all (compared to flute or tin whistle). Maybe it's the long notes, as opposed to baroque songs which have very fast changes. I also love how folk music sounds on the recorder, especially fast tunes, as well as italian dances.
thank god for you, i can’t read sheet music for shiet this is greatt
Waw,Beautiful Melody
Can you make tutorials on jazz music like Duke Ellington or Glenn Miller?
👍 😎
Great idea. Maybe Count Basie too.
Omg yes please
Fun! Thanks!
BUT MAY I SUGGEST...
Moving to each subsequent page one, or maybe two beats earlier. I would appreciate it and having taught school recorders for years I found my beginners were more successful moving their eyes ahead a beat or so.
wow te felicito eres experta y me ganas tocando
abrazos, me suscribo
4:20 I like how the two yous breath in at the same time
It's more like 4:16
Very spiffy videography - I especially liked the 'do-re-mi' at the top and the score on the bottom together, which compliment each other well. Nice split screen use also.
Thanks! It’s a lot of info (video +sound + sheet music + note letters + do re mi) but wanted to make sure there’s something for everyone!
Hey! Great video! I was just wondering if it'd be possible to post a PDF of the sheet music for this? Preferable the one in C minor :)
Thank you so much for sharing this! 5 Days ago I started to try to learn it ♥️♥️♥️
This was great fun. I've been wanting to play this for ages. Next on my wish list is the theme from The Good Fight which actually includes recorders!!
Can you make a tutorial on Girls of Ba Sing Se from Avatar: The Last Airbender? Thank you!!
Great fun - absolutely loving season 8 of G of T - what will we do when it is finished? Oh yeah, silly me, watch it all over again from the beginning of course!!
I think you might have reconsidered rewatching as the season was shit
@@neophyte88 - in your opinion - I enjoyed every episode and stand by my initial opinion. It is possible for people to have different experiences when watching TV/films etc you know: no need to get defensive!!
Wow. I just started learning it. what timing. :)
Thanks for showing the musical score at the bottom as well as the notes on the score!!! :)
Thank you for this tutorial!
Thank you sarah😄
Nice! I loved that - dó ré mi fá sol lá si - translation
Wow!!!
❤️❤️❤️
Thanks!!!
pas de doute on sait maintenant qui a composé cette musique ... merci
I want a dragon-glass recorder.
me too tbh
me at 2:14.... DAFOOOOOQ!!! @_@ im out of air. hahhahaha!
This is great music Sarah, thank you. Can we download the music score somewhere please?
Hi David, I'm not publishing the full sheet music to download as I don't want to risk breaching copyright and getting in trouble with HBO! A video tutorial like this falls under the fair use policy, but actually sharing sheet music to download would be crossing a line I fear.
Oh, i understand completely Sarah, i guess you’re right, just didn’t think of it!
Bear Island knows no recorder player but the recorder player in the North, whose name is Jeffery!
Hello! I watch your videos with pleasure, you are amazing! The captions to the notes contain a typo: 1:42 "RE-sol DO-ti RE sol", but need "RE-sol DO-si RE sol".
Sorry for my English, but a comment in Russian would be even more incomprehensible.
Can you make tutorial for Shostakovich waltz 2?
I love that piece! Thanks for the idea!

I believe I have found the right recorder to play that Sekiro mist song

Thanks, Sarah! Another great video! Can you please post the sheet music in a single page? Thanks!

@@Team_Recorder Understood, thanks for the reply! Your channel is great!
Can you use recorder tabs?
Usually the recorder sounds kind of funny or has a shaky tone , this wooden recorder sounds quite nice , kind of like a medieval whistle
Not really, mine is quite like that and is plastic made
@@mysterious_4053 hence it's quality over material , how much did it cost you ? I'm really hooked to try playing the recorder .
@@verandi3882 ah i'm sorry but it was a gift😅 the only thing I can say it's that it's an Aulos white plastic. it probably was cheap, but remember, the sound of the recorder will depend on you. There's this youtuber, Fabio Vetro who always plays recorder which cost are €3 or similar and it sounds really good.
@@mysterious_4053 bravissimo , that man sounds great , i searched about it and it seems like cheaper types are more difficult to articulate , the one he played sounded great but the tone isn't the tone im looking for , the wooden one has more of a folk/medieval sound to it , but 3€ is very cheap for a functional instrument , i will try to get one for practicing , thank you
@@verandi3882 no problem👍 good luck with it, wish you all the best😁
Noice, Sarah. And very timely. Thank you.
I would second two comments/requests: 1) can you post the sheet music in one piece (unless of course, that would violate copyright); and 2) a tutorial on an Ellington or Miller piece would be cool. I’d vote for Ellington’s Satin Doll-or Django Reinhardt‘s Minor Swing or Nuages. But anything. Love yer joie de vivre.
I think it would violate copyright, and I'm not gonna risk it - sorry!
what is the difference between the capital and small letters? do the capital letters indicate one octave above i.e. e2,c2, etc. or does it indicate an accented note?
Please play Yianni's "One man's dream" on Alto..
Please maam sarah~ please do the shire~♡♡♡♡
Can you make a Tutorial about the Flash Theme?😃😂
Please, where can I get this music sheet as u played...???
For real i just finished season 8 xD
why is it always that the black ones are bigger?
You have a long breathe wow i died trying to do that
Hey Sarah, im really really really new to this whole music thing. And i kinda want to play the recorder. I can't read notes etcetera. How much time do you think a normal guy, who is new to playing recorder, has to invest to get good to play something like folk music?
I really appreciate your doing.. love from germany
That’s a good question! There are folk tunes with only a few notes, but it depends on how you get on with the breathing, combining it all... I have a video called ‘your first recorder lesson’ where I give you all the basics and you learn a tune- try that one out!
what is the difference between the capital and small letters?
How do you play the small letters?
Capital letters for the higher scale, low case for the lower scale.
Time to get back to this video so we can honor House of the Dragon :)))
aah yessss very handy for me that they kept the same music 😄
I've been very curious about a song from the game The Witcher 3 called "The vagabond" . I'm trying to understand if a recorder or a whistle is used on that track ( alto of soprano? ). If you can figure it out, let me know. It would be very very appreciated! :-)
If I may jump in, it sounds a lot like the Low Whistle, which is pitched one octave below the Tin Whistle in the same key. Unfortunately I can't tell a song's key by listening to it yet. Nice tune, btw. It would also sound great on flute.
@@danmihaescu4687 really? I don't think it sounds like a low key personally.
@@DeeDee-ud2rg Low whistles come in different keys, just like Tin Whistles. They're just an octave lower. It could be E flat, C, D. I've been listening to many covers of Witcher, WaW and other game soundtracks on Low Whistle, and this seems to sound the same. But I could be wrong.
@@danmihaescu4687 You know what it sounds like to me? A Susato kildare!
Which octave?
Can we have the sheets plz plz ?
Yep they are published on Jellynote, check the link in the description 😎
@@Team_Recorder Thanks
Btw: They're not dragons. They're wyverns. ;-)
Dragons is pretty broad term tho and thsy are dragons in the show and books whether its lore or not
@@skadihuntress : Read as you wish. I'm just saying that over 1000 years of heraldry, tradition, and folklore say otherwise. But hey, people change the meaning of words to whatever want. e.g.

What do the red notes mean?
They are approved by the Lord of Light.
@@barthvapour gold!
Haha. That's my music notation programme saying 'nope, those notes are out of range', but we know they are NOT!
British accent right?
yep
@@Team_Recorder i'd rather listen to that accent than that flute

Imagine being her. Not having seen that awful ending yet. How wonderful her life must be. That said the recorder is still not a musical instrument but a children's toy. Change my mind. Also wtf with the alto and soprano played perfectly in tune with each other without even a minor temptation of syncopation or harmonization? :( Such underwhelming instruments.
