Cartier was the great star of Watches and Wonders this year. Always innovative and bold. The Cartier Santos Dumont, which depicts the 14 Bis airplane on the dial, is superb. The 14 Bis is the first airplane and there is a beautiful story when it flew around the Eiffel Tower. Last year, Cartier inserted the entire movement in the rotor. Panerai could follow that same path. But they are too lazy for that.

Btw If the trend is increasing demand for dressier watches does Cartier continue to grow market share relative to Omega, firming up their position as #2 and close a little of the gap relative to Rolex at #1. And does the growing trend for limited runs increase Cartier’s 2nd value and brand image, and further fuel demand. I think so.
I had no appreciation for Cartier watches. Then I watched you guys and how you wanted one, and wouldn't you know I developed an appreciation for the. I really like to have a Santos Dumont. Love that non-limited version in yellow gold with blue dial. Killer look, and I normally am not partial to yellow gold! The medium version is also a beauty in green and probably would fit my wrist better.
I read that Cartier will discontinue the stainless steel version of the Santos-Dumont in XL size (comparable in size to the medium size Santos de Cartier). Is that correct?
The information on the size of the classic tank normale presented here is not corrected. The Tank normale originally produced up until the 1980s had a size of 23x30 mm. There was a smaller ladies version, which he might be referring to, but that is not THE tank normale but just some side-version. The re-issue of the tank normale now does not follow the original size but is (unfortunately) larger.
If the Santos Green has a gold plated or solid gold dial on the numbers, and green emerald on the crown. That would be the perfect Santos Green for me.
The Jade stones on the dial of the Dumont is an incredible little detail that may make me pick itup. The blue/gold skeleton is so good, it's a shame that there are only 150 and will never see the light of day
I’m really confused by the solar beat. I have one and I work with Cartier who are adament as recently as 1 week ago it is not discontinued. But equally a client of mine got an email from a boutique saying it is… and that was 9 months ago… but we’re still recieving stock of them… we had one 4 days ago… 🤣

speedmaster doesn't use mineral it uses hesalite which is acryclic or plastic to pay homage to the orginial. IF, these are mineral, mineral offers almost no benefit over sapphire, they are just cheaper, they are glass that scratch easily and seen on cheap fashion watches. Could be cartier leaning into the fact that they teeter on a fashion watch brand, idk weird choice for a crystal

Mineral crystal is not the same as an acrylic crystal that the speedmaster has. It is way worse. It is a softer type of glass that cannot be polished but scratches relatively easily

I dont believe for a second that Cartier couldnt source the electronics for the Solar Beat. It's just too expensive to not be mechanical, even if it is a cartier. I believe it didnt sell.
