The same thing happened to me back in the early 80s, with "Live from Carnegie Hall", on the radio. Kurt Moll, Cord Garben, an all-Loewe program. A revelation for me, magnificent! Still have the cassette.
I first came across this marvellous singer on Radio Three a few years ago, broadcasting a recitel opening the BlackHeath Hall. He was accompaned by Cort Garben(?) Happily I hit the record button on my Radio/cassette recorder and still have it. He also sang- so delicately, "Thom de Rhymer" Nothing can beat a live performance. I am lucky to have that cassette.
Beautiful voice and terrific actor on stage as well...

It always amazed me how he could control such a powerful voice:very like ome of the early singers in my late husband's collection of 1910-1930 78s.
Ich glaube an Odin und die alten Götter
