I don’t mind that it’s basically a giant action figure but at least flock it for accuracy.. that would of made it worth closer to $400 for me. Yes we can modify it but it’s just a turn off for the price tag. Thanks for the thorough review. I think the diehard fans will buy it. Most might pass on this. I wish the mouth could open. The collar is my favorite part. Sculpt is 10/10.
Hey man, thanks for watching! I feel your comment is pretty level headed and reasonable and seems you pretty much match how I feel. Yah, I too wish it was flocked-the only reason I give it a slight benefit of the doubt though is that I have heard behind the scenes that it was considered and was just not working out the way they hoped. I mean to me that doesn't make too much sense since it seems like a simple enough thing to do, but hey I'm not a toy maker and I'm not there behind the scenes so it's hard for me to get mad and point fingers about it ya know? I also don't know how they came to that very high price point, but hey again, I don't know the behind the scenes of it all. From my experience and limited knowledge, this seems more like a $150-$200 item, but I'm not in the biz so I'm not sure all the factors that contribute to the final price. And you're right, diehard collectors will get this and that's why it's hard for me to speak for others and say if it's worth it or not cause it's worth it to some and not to others. It just depends what you're looking for. If you're looking for a cool prop display piece as a fan of Sox/Lightyear, this does the trick. If you're looking for something 100% movie accurate and with robotics, then this is will be disappointing. That's why I said as long as you know what you're getting here and you wanna pay the $400, than go for it-it must be worth it to that person. And agreed, the sculpt itself is 10/10. I had no complaints there at all like I said so I'm glad you agree! The collar and tag are also perfection, absolutely. There are some amazing elements here, no doubt. Again, like I said, for what it's trying to be (really a shelf display piece for collectors), it succeeds so much. Definitely pros and cons, but I'm mostly very positive about it.
Great to see the figure covered in such detail! It really looks so accurate. Now we just need to give it 62 years to improve some hyperspace fuel composition. If it can do that, then it’s for sure worth the price!
I just ordered it today after watching your review. I am doing the payment plans as I do feel $400 was a tough pill to swallow. I honestly would've been more comfortable had it been priced at $295 like their other Supersize figures. But at $400 it should've had flocking. Their Snoopy has felted ears at the very least.
Looks like a pretty decent one, main issues would be not being flocked, and for $400 no electronics or talking features, but at least we have his Mouse Protocol which no other Soxs have had
Yup those were my two main issues as well. It is what it is though and hopefully some collectors will enjoy this collectible for what it is! And yah good cell on the mouse protocol… it’s true! The one and only so far.
Zurg is getting an Alpha Class figure. He looks outstanding. Now we basically have every main character in the movie in that line. Now I'm wondering if we will get a Zyclops Alpha Class figure.
It's not worth that price. There are better interactive robots for much less. With that price tag it should be flocked, open it's mouth and have LED screens for eyes and better moves.
Woah awesome my bday is next month but I know what I want I really want the taraka tomy real posing buzz from ts4 but probably won’t ever get this I prefer the Mattel version this one is just to pricey to me but still awesome review 😎
Agreed! The price is sadly out of reach for many collectors which is unfortunate, but you’re right- there are still so many amazing elements here and it’s a solid product overall!
Agreed! Yah like I said in the video, the sculpt is 10/10. No complaints at all with the sculpt’s likeness. It’s perfect. But yah, I’m SO curious to understand how they arrived at the $400 price point. To me this should have been $150-$200 and marketed as a limited edition, but hey I’m not there calling those kind of shots! 😆
Yah it’s reallllyyyy expensive. I don’t understand how they arrived at that retail price, but hey I’m not in the business calling the shots 😆 I’d be interested to learn about the reasonings they felt this should be $400.
Anyone else think that Star Command trying to take Sox away from Buzz after Alisha died was a stupid idea? At that point, Lightyear would need the therapy robot more than ever!
I am a huge Pixar Collector, particularly Toy Story and Cars, but what is that price ? Are they seriously asking 400$ for this ? The sculpt is great and it's probably been ripped straight from Pixar digital data, but, besides the quality material and the realistic collar, it looks like a Mattel Figure worth 15$. It's not even Movie Accurate and it doesn't move, for the price they should've AT LEAST flocked him. I am never that negative but wow that annoys me. It's 100$ less than freaking medicom Woody ! If he was a real functioning little robot, like what Sphero does with R2D2 or McQueen, any other company that sells fun little robots, I would totally understand the 400$ but seeing what it actually is, it's not cool like that. I'm sure we're gonna have better Moving Sox Robots for 90$ this christmas, I know we are.
Yup I get it! It seems like there’s a general overwhelming consensus in the comments here that $400 is just wayyy beyond what fans are willing to pay for this- even diehards. I can totally see this being $150-$200 as like a limited con exclusive, but hey I’m not there behind the scenes so I have no idea how they arrived at the $400 price point. I’d be curious to learn though! But yes I agree, if no electronics they should have at least flocked him. From what I understand it was considered but dropped ultimately for whatever reason. But also to be fair, I feel ultimately Woody from Medicom is also WAY too pricey for what that is too. That thing should be like $100. No working pullstring or voice either. Several things that make him not movie accurate. But yah anyway, not sure what the $400 is about, but maybe they will realize they went too high with the price and drop it some? It’s also not marketed as a limited edition item so I’m wondering how many were made?
$400?! That seems a bit excessive to me, the robotic talking and walking one is $90? I know it's alot smaller, but you'd think this one would at least be more posable or have a few phrases. It's cool and the packaging is awesome, but if I ever did have that much money to spend on a toy I'd rather get the Hot Toys Buzz Lightyear or something.
Yup I figured this would be the response from most people haha it’s true- it is insanely high which makes it very inaccessible to most. I feel like $150 would have made way more sense, but hey I’m not making the prices. I do wonder how they came to and justified that price tag.
@@DanthePixarFan yeah, even if they had it be fuzzy or have a few phrases, even if he could fully sit properly it'd be a bit more justified. I also think maybe having his kennel be plastic? And maybe we'll see People mod these Sox all out to be closer to a replica, like you were mentioning. Maybe if someone perfectly formed an orange fabric or fur on Sox.
