MILOU, Papa Doc owned a Mercedes Benz 600 limo. These were made by a special division of Mercedes in Stuttgart, Germany from 1963 -71 and were the most advanced and luxurious cars you could buy. They had full self-leveling hydraulic suspensions and pretty much every conceivable feature you want, and you could have the car custom built with what you wanted. In 1963 it cost $22,000 in the US for just the basic 4 door model, which in today’s money equals $225,000. The limousine models had 6 doors and were much more expensive. They’re worth 2 or 3 million dollars today, but they’re so complex (and many parts are not available) that you’ll have a hard time even finding a mechanic willing to work on it.
There is an excellent documentary series on youtube called “Evolution Of Evil” and one of the episodes is about Papa Doc. There are a dozen different episodes about various dangerous dictators, each one is about one hour long.
