It will be interesting to see how much improvement that barrel provides. Excellent price point aside, the modularity is what really has me excited about this rifle.I can see tons of companies making parts for it in addition to the AR stuff that fits already. I think a takedown .338 whisper2 with a 12" bbl would make the coolest suitcase gun ever.
Got my 6.5 two weeks ago, hung a AAC suppressor on it, begged for a box (20) Hornady 140 AMax. Bore sighted the rifle, mounted the scope (Bushnell Elite 3.5-21X50) got on paper, shot the center diamond out of the target at 100 yards. Working up loads now. Love this rifle.
Cost of Upgrade with the Rifle being $999 is about $2400 total. Not everything needed to be upgraded I just showed you what can be and did it. But you can do a Barrel and Handguard upgrade for $1000, bringing it to $2000 retail
As far as I'm concerned...all you did was spend a wad of money on some parts to replace without a shred of justification as to performance gains and/or weight reduction. No before to after comparison...what a waste of my time
+SHLowlight *****These guys just do not understand or care that it is possible to improve on any firearm. take any given platform and just "improve" it. LIGHTEN UP GUYS, it just goes to show that you can do this or that to the gun. See "Spartan" from asking a question about the gun. The gun is not bad as a base platform to start out with. Later, guys can add modifications to it as money rolls in. I have a Kimber Advanced Tactical that took 2 years to get in to the shop. Heck of a way to have to put $6000.00 with all the goodies on hold, then improve on things that I like better on the gun such as scope rings that came with it....just my 2 cents on the matter.
+SHLowlight I think they are just bothered because of their jealousy issues, they think because they don't have the money to randomly upgrade when they want just because they can, then nobody should. You sir have more than earned the right to do what ever you want in this great country. Thanks for sharing, I think this is the direction I'm going to go with my Ruger. I was thinking hand guard first to get some trigger time then once I'm familiar with the gun I'll save for a barrel and get into some local matches. good game plan?
NICE! I recently got my 6.5CM RPR and have done a few mods myself. The accuracy is fine as is... maybe typical of the stock Ruger but I'm getting under 1/2MOA so for now, it's perfect. The Sampson handguard sucks... I have a Midwest Industries on the list once I get all the other stuff modded to my tastes. I am getting an aluminum bolt extension in a few weeks. I put a CTR with a cheek riser and it seems to do great... instant length of pull adjustment, locks up solid and with the cheek riser, perfect for me (maybe not so much for others). I put a MIAD I pulled off another rifle and with the thick backstrap, feels perfect! I might do the ambi-selector but not sure if really needed. I also may Duracote/Ceracote it in the near future. I love this rifle... so versatile! So easy to tailor to the individual shooters needs. FTR, I have it glassed with a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50... the apex of a budget scope. I use a mix of 10rnd PMAG and 5 & 20rnd M14 mags (yup, lock up and feed reliably PLUS give you last shot hold-open). I'm so impressed with this weapons system, I may get another in .308 and sell my M24 or hold out on the rumor they might be doing a long action version in 2017. Great vid... especially appreciate the step-by-step thing!
Thank you so much I caught hell thinking the barrel nut was attached to the damn receiver. Shit sometimes I'm thankful my body breathes for me ....what an idiot I am at times.
Am I the only person that doesn't like the Magpul PRS stock? I have one on an AR and the one that comes on the Savage 110BA. Really not a fan, especially for the price.
ABetterLife.Inc looks don't matter over functionality, and trust me the PRS stock is far more functional than the standard Ruger stock. that thing can be a bit of a nightmare, at least in my limited experience with it. works well enough I guess, not super comfortable though, and looks like shit
Thank you SHLowlight. Any chance sharing with us the cost of components and actual time needed for all upgrades? Curious, Magpul PRS stock is better in your opinion for PRS matches on RPR or just in general ? Thank you.

Good vid. Don't understand the hate. So after market barrels available already chambered?, just need to be headspaced by the barrel nut? Seems to me that would be the single most important upgrade.
So I can get behind replacing the barrel. But why do I need to replace the handguard? It doesn't touch the barrel and just holds a bipod. Why do I need to replace the bolt shroud with the one from the company that sent you one for free with an engraving? How is that going to make my gun more accurate?
Went with a Luth, mainly as the price was right, Magpul makes a great product just a little out of my budget. Good video, good choice in upgrades. Otherwise pretty much useless how to video, like a car sales ad, Sold the Luth now a Magpul Prs
Bartlein make some good barrel too ? What you think ? Did you change the whole bolt?? Where can I find that bolt im in Canada any link? If I buy in 308 can I swap between barrel and get a 6.5 too? Thanks in advance great video wow
Im getting ready to do LRI barrel in 6.5 creedmore and seekins rail. Do you think 22" would really hurt the potential of the cal? I know you went 24". Also what "go/no go's" do you like? I plan on using the hornady ELD-x 143's. Thanks and great vid
Stupid question. Are the AR parts to use for upgrading from AR15 or AR10 platforms. Being that the barrel is like that of a 10 in thickness. I'm assuming AR10 parts. If it is AR10 parts, like the handguard. What version of upper shelf. Armalite or DPMS upper reciever shelf height. Thanks for the help.
I've been thinking about getting into one of these. Are the barrels on these just like a AR barrel or different? That's the one big upgrade I have been seeing a lot of people doing, just wondering if it needs a custom barrel. Thanks
Hello I just ordered a new barrel and I'm thinking of the tools needed which do you think a barrel vise or a seekins action rod would be better? Also when you did the go and no go gauge did you remove the ejector?
I was skeptical about the rifle at first. Why? I didn't know of any aftermarket or upgradable parts. I only buy guns with a good upgrade background. We had people raving over this at my work. Now that it will soon be available in 300 WM. I'm giving it serious thought and an upgraded barrel.
ruger uses very crazy high torque specs on the ruger precision (THESE NUMBERS ARE PER RUGER TECH SERVICES) 150 FOOT POUNDS for the barrel nut,90 INCH pounds for the 3 receiver screws. I was watching this vid to try and find the torque spec on the barrel nut lock (PART 86 on the exploded diagram) and couldn't help but notice that you did the entire job with NO TORQUE WRENCH....how is that possible? i get a GO NO GO gauge will set your headspace BUT how do you work up a precision rifle without a torque wrench???
hey what is the exact rail system you used I heard seekins precision spr-3 there are still variations of these. was yours the Lok or the Seekins Precision SP3R V3 Key-Mod Rail 15" please let me know thanks bro
I looked on their page there are 3 different ones that look the same like different models. my concern was the walk from right to left due to poor quality hand guard with only 2 bolts holding it to barrel. thanks for your time. maybe you can do a video about carrier tilt from gas piston ar-15 and ar-10.
I understand wanting to possibly upgrade the barrel and maybe the bolt shroud. But the about of 💰 spent a custom rifle could have just been built from the start

LRI barrels are priced at a whopping $590.00 dollars.. Meanwhile the barrels that have the most wins at National Precision Rifle events are Bartlein barrels and i went to their website and their single point cut stainless steel barrels in palma contour up to 29"inches come in at $350.00 . I just do not understand why LRI barrels are priced so much higher than Barlein, Krieger, Brux, Shilen, ect.
:Ahh.. Now i understand the text on the LRI website a little better about not to placing orders only to cancel them several days later because the blanks cost him 350.00 dollars and he has to eat that.
You're turning that Crescent wrench in the wrong direction based on how you have it on the barrel nut. You don't load the jaw like that. You're just asking to mess up that nut and, maybe, the wrench itself. The wrench should be placed so that the wrench is turned in the direction that is indicated by the bottom jaw. You had it on the barrel for turning in the direction of loosening the barrel nut. If you are going to tighten the nut, you need to turn the wrench around so that you are pulling it toward you. Yeah, I'm being picky, but there is a right way and a wrong way to do just about anything. I also hate to see people misuse tools.
Not sure why people change barrels out on these. Shot a half inch 5 shot group just the other day that's damn good with factory loads why would you need more... waste of money. Prob get it to shoot .25 inches with the right handloads consistently

I personally have never liked the look of the stock either but for adjustability. It does the trick most of the time.

What length barrel did you go with ? I am building this exact build.
who is the artist for the music in the video?
It's stock music that is royalty free ...
cool. it would be good music to do cardio too.
I recognize that melody.. The Tokens - The Lion Sleeps Tonight, do you hear it?
So out of the whole rifle you only kept the lower? New barrel, new handguard, new butt stock, new safety, nor much left of a 1600 rifle
Very nice.
This is my next rifle as soon as someone local can get their hands on one.
Question.....at time 3.09 on the video...where did you get the nice SSTL hex handguard nut? I have all the items to do this to mine but not that nut.

How much was the custom Barrel?
Good vid. Did you use a barrel vise or an action wrench when you changed the barrel, or did you just use a regular vise for the entire process?
A lot are saying there's modification required to the barrel nut to use that seekins rail?

So . . . How does it shoot ?????
Will a ar 15 22 nosler fit on ruger precision 5.56 nato ?
what kind of block did you have the rifle in when it was in the vise?

You can feel 150 ft/lb of torque if you’ve done a lot of wrenching.
I've heard reports of Ruger stopped production on them. Some reports that guys putting cans on them and getting baffle strikes ?
+Jay Cupples not heard that I think they are confusing the American Rifle lawsuit
