Yes, it is as Gregor writes. Also we wanted to show that there are both options - strings through body or not. Each customer prefers a different option :) Thank you for your interest! Have a nice day :)
I am proud owner of two Red Bird basses. Actually from the same wood as yours, 1788 church. I bought one and after few months ordered the second one :) Because of the sound, playability and also because creating so special custom basses with Jan and Lucy was so entertaining. They are amazing. And they are still pretty cheap! My Cadillac bass sounds like this: ruclips.net/video/JUWPfaQLL0w/видео.htmlsi=udlQKzGI80rPoYAM
humbuckers in that position tend to sound a bit wooly but the output might also be so bad that it clips the amp a slight bit in the 'baseline' clips yes
It’s how most players would make a bass like this sound. Usually with an amp. Since we’re using super clean preamps to record I created the amp feel with slight drive and tube simulations

Congrats, Gregor! This is a beautiful instrument! So tasteful and to the point. A blend of different Fender designs that doesn't seem blended at all because everything flows so nicely, and it sounds just awesome. The wood and finish are more than a cherry on top for sure!
i am guessing that they have already raised their price on this, starting at $1700 is certainly a fair price but not what most people would call an insane bargain that you hinted at. nice bass.
No, that’s the price I was referring to. For a handmade instrument from the finest possible materials, this is nothing. If this was a Fender Custom Shop you’d pay an insane premium alone for that body wood. At least 6k for a bass like this. 2500 would be a fair price considering they’re not a well known brand. Even more if they were a household name in the industry
Hello, thank you for your message :) This bass starts at 1650 EUR, the price may be little higher if you have some special wishes or hardware requests. Everything what we do is completely handmade, including pickups. We are using old woods with story - old church beams, old bordello building beams, piano factory beams, cottage beams etc. I agree it seems like a higher price than if you go to the guitar store and pick up some generic guitar. But if you love these crazy things with stories and soul I think that money is worth it :)
it was not my intention to say it wasn't a fair price, it absolutely is. I think it would just be easier in the future to just state the price and avoid confusion, I mean it's not like it's a secret.
Not that the artists don't deserve reward for their hard work, but all the awesome basses floating around online are either super expensive, or the good accessible ones don't come in lefty. Oh, well
The price is not a joke. I went to their website, and at first I thought it read 650€, and I was like "ok, this bass is not in the cheap category, but I'll check it out and think about it", and then I realized it reads "starting @1650€", and I lost interest permanently. What made you say the price is a joke!?!?
@@basstheworldofficialNow that I am aware of that, yes the price probably makes sense; but you should have pointed that out in the video title or emphasise its a price of a high end custom handmade bass. I watched the whole video from start to finish and for some reason I obviously missed that bit of information. But ok, now I know. I watched the video again, and noticed that your german accent blurs out some words incomprehensible. I honestly don't mean to offend you in any way, I am not a hater, I'm just pointing out the obvious. Thanks for the video, in all it is well made with love, just lacking a bit of clarity when it comes to product pricing.
Just another short scale bass that sounds muffled and lacks definition. 🤷🏼♂️ shorties just sound like shorties. If you can’t play a standard scale, buy a Bass VI.
BassTheWorld videos always make my day, Gregor's joyfulness lifts the mood of anyone.
Agreed. This is a man who clearly loves and appreciates life in general; music is his reward.
Me too... 😊
He had quite the evolution. Check his videos from 5 to 6 years ago, he was your stereotypical serious and stiff German.
I can't get enough from the "freedom kilos" joke 😂
made me lol
I love it when it's Freedom Burgers 😆
Love this bass. Don’t usually like short scales but it sounds amazing. Price is very fair and it looks amazing. So tempted. Beautiful.
Interesting body shape and love the clean tone higher up on the neck. Beautiful!
Looks great. Sounds great. Short scale. What more could you ask for?
Great video... I loved the bit when Gregor said "ridiculous low price" and then I found out that this means €1.650 😳
Low for having a custom build bass with premium materials

I love the barely see through textured finish
Amazing sounding Shortscale!
The body shape reminds me of my first Bass,a Vox Clubman Mk1 from the early 60s
Can you explain the reason for stringing the E/A strings through the bridge and the D/G strings through the body in this hybrid sort of setup? 2:01
They want more sustain for the D and G string
Yes, it is as Gregor writes. Also we wanted to show that there are both options - strings through body or not. Each customer prefers a different option :) Thank you for your interest! Have a nice day :)
Freedom kilos makes me laugh every time 😂

Been waiting for this one thanks

Really great wood! 😎👍

That line hes playing at the beginning reminds me of Final Fantasy music, which is great imo
I own two red Bird Basses the First momma ever and one Special handcrafted Tele Style Bass
Yeah! ❤️
Im building a new bass project that would suit this pickup a lot! Do you think they would sell me a pickup?
I think they’re selling these. Drop them an email
@@basstheworldofficial thanks i will try to find their contact
How and where can we get a hold of this beautiful bass?!
check their website and send them an email. you can find their contact info on there
What a monster!!! 🔥
Hi Gregor, very nice bass. Why the hybrid string through body/bridge?
Through the body makes for more sustain and they apparently like to mix it up
Yes, it is as Gregor writes :) Also we wanted to show there are both options - strings through body or not - as you want :)
I'm in love too!
It sounds very distorted to my ears; was distortion added, or does the bass itself distort?
humbuckers in that position tend to sound a bit wooly but the output might also be so bad that it clips the amp a slight bit in the 'baseline' clips yes
I added drive to most sounds here
@basstheworldofficial kinds of defeats the goal of finding out what the bass itself sounds like.

As an American, I still chuckle and appreciate you giving the weight in “freedom kilos”… Thank you!
He's the best. I just wish gear reviewers from the US used kilos too (besides pounds of course) for their non US audience.
