I grew up watching Saved by the Bell. I think it's cool that this episode was written. I like it when a popular piece of media is able to bring to the surface important political/socio-economic issues; especially about being aware of one's background! It would be great if more people used their platforms to help people become more aware.
Politics aside, he is a positive role model in the chicano community. Im neither dem or rep im chicano, and we need our own political party, aligned with native Americans.
this episode had a good message but the writers managed to make it corny and unrealistic. slater's family shared little in common with the latinx woman who would have called him a vendido or coconut in real-life and shun him. slater is an American of native American and spaniard ancestry. the chicano movement or the American indian movement would have gladly embraced slater and let him bring his white girlfriends around us.
