Your cowl is so cute! I think I feel a bit the same I like the idea of something cozy around my neck but I can't really get on board with it as it isn't super practical for someone who wears foundation, especially if it's in a light colour. You have inspired me to give something like this a try. Linen stitch is a really good crochet stitch for showing off variegated and speckled yarns in my opinion.
Funny, I just started a Ranunculus in a LeRoo Cotton yarn in the colour Moonglow! I have the Tencel DK, however. I love LeRoo Cotton, I have no vegan yarn store near me so this is perfect.
