Of course , Les Baer, Wilson, STI, Nighthawk, Kimber, Caspian and Cabot are all super fine firearms! They are finely finished, but mostly too costly for the trucker who wants good protection he can afford! He is not interested at showing off at the range to his buddies. If it shoots all the time and is accurate, that's all there is! You don't buy a work horse for show! You buy it to get the job done! There are better rounds than the .045, 230 grain, fmj, but it's all hair splitting! Let's just say, it's more than sufficient to stop any man or beast!

@@marckcarbonelloifveteran410 Over 50 now. Matter of fact I just today purchased a Remington R-1 M1911-A1 .45ACP with beautiful yet minimal engraved scrollwork on the slide. It is a Comemorative Centennial model.
The head of RIA says that's actually just an urban myth - they've done everything themselves. And a few years ago, they redid everything with their CMC machining, brought in outside experts, cleaned up their production (Martin actually said that the old ones, like the Daley's, were junk), and now there's literally very few people that don't love them. I sure do like mine.
Maine (where I am proud to live) has constitutional carry. And the most common handgun I have seen being carried by anyone open carrying is some version of the 1911 in .45. Even seen some old war 1911's. I myself carry an RIA 1911A1 FS, and I have to say, I am so happy with it. Tight patterns, easy to control, built tight! and a lot more comfortable to carry than my old Glock (in my personal opinion and experience.) My only problem with it is that it doesn't like HP rounds. Pushed the bullet into the casing with the feed ramp the first time I tried. But overall, I really enjoy it and I know that with proper maintenance, this gun will outlast me.
I just bought a Rock Island Armory 1911A1 45 ACP as my first handgun. It is a 1:1 of the colt 1911A1. Interchangeable parts. Never shot a handgun before in my life. At 50 feet. Out of 100 Rounds, 36 within the outside 3 rings of 6 rings. 64 within the first 3 rings of the Bullseye. Bullseye shot out. I don't think it was all me. It was the accuracy of the gun where I didn't have to compensate for anything or have other fancy tactical things to consider. It's a simple gun. An aim, point and shoot. Just like those little cameras. And it gets the job done.
Man, I tried for years to buy a 1911. In 2004, I tried to buy a Charles Daly 1911, I was in R&R from Iraq and the seller told me that I had to be present to pick it up. I went back to Iraq pissed it was a great deal $400 with laser grip and nite sights. On my Second tour of Iraq, I tried to purchase a Para-ordnance 1911, the same deal something came in between and could not purchase it. Well, this time I return from a DC deployment this year, I went on line and purchased a handgun similar to the one in this video. I shipped to an FFL, I paid $529 and ironically the salesman was a Marine vet.
@@ArmedSteadyFirearmsChannel Thats what I came up with, too. Really shoot great with this baby!! I did put ultra thin cocobolo grips, and Pierce finger grips... Helps me with conceal carry. Also, the Wilson Combat mags are a big plus. Really nice video!!! Thank you!
I bought one last winter and it is my most trusted semi auto. My .44 magnum revolver is my most trusted handgun. Revolvers won't let you down when your life depends on it. You do have to replace the Mag it comes with with a higher quality one like a Wilson Combat.
No! I just finished therapy 2 weeks ago!!! My phone is frozen and video won’t stop playing. As a CA resident I just completed 8 weeks of “off-roster” rehab! I’m not ready to see forbidden fruit again!
Snagged a GI standard full size last night for under $400 brand new. My first 45, my first 1911. If it shoots well, it will be a keep for life gun. It's beautiful (as are just about all 1911s.) Hope you're still enjoying yours!
Got one on layaway just like the one in this video. Had a beat up GI version a while back, loved it. Funny story, I wanted a new R.I. 1911, and I saw a .45 Tac Ultra double stack in the store. Hadn't even known R.I. made a double stack before then. Got it, then just weeks later saw this thing in there. I wanted one like this in the very first place. So I put it on layaway. this will be my third Rock Island 1911, and I am stoked. This thing looks sick in person. Mine was $570. Unbelievable considering what you get. The double stack will be my woods gun, and this one likely to be my edc, once I break it in.
That really is a beautiful 1911. Let alone at that price. Rock Island makes some really quality stuff. I just bought my first hammer fire gun, a CZ p07 and I'm planning on a RIA 1911 next.
Dave FS I have had no issues. It's shot everything ive put through it with no problems. As a matter of fact, it shoots the same if not better than my Springfield Armory V10 Ultra Compact that I bought years ago for double the price. I'm satisfied. Hope this helped
@@leadhead7338 got mine in and love it so far! Haven't shot it yet but love the fit and finish of the gun. A real tight fit no wobble at all excellent trigger feels good in the hand.

I bought a citadel Damascus 1911 (made by RIA) a few months after I bought a Springfield Ronin full size .45. I was impressed by the build quality and tolerances it had for being half the price of the Springfield! Super stoked to shoot it, my Springfield is crazy accurate. They both came with 2 mags, and a carry case!
I bought the exact same model same color and all and boy was I surprised. The very first shot I took I hit a bulls eye from a little under 10 yards. I was able to get 2-3 inch groupings right out the box no modifications. Super accuracy gun. It is the most accurate gun I own, better than my Glocks, CZ, S&Ws me and my brother. I'm super happy with the gun. It is the best gun under 600 dollars.
My first gun was a ATI GSG 1911 .22LR, my second was a Bersa Thunder 380 (love that thing) my 3rd is a Ruger Mk II Target 6.75 barrel tho I've never tried it yet, its from 1982. This 1911 is my 4th and I can't wait to try it out
-- SOC we carried 1911s. Then 20 years as a PSC, 1911s. Recently got into the 10mm. Was so-so about it, until I put it through a 1911, and everything came together. Got this RIA also. You get a lot for what you pay for, most importantly, you can trust your life to it. Break it in, and my experience, Ed Brown Mags, and you're pretty solid with that. I like the full guide rod for recoil, but field stripping (not like a mud puddle doesn't work for a 1911) is a pain in the butt. Because in the Holy Scriptures of Clapping Cheeks, John Browning, chapter 3, verse 2: All men passing from this world to the next, shall be honored, buried in a mountain of 1911s the size of The Great Pyramid of Giza. Thumbs up.
Thanks for the vid (4 + yrs later). O311 hear 2002-2009 and I jus bought the same identical pistol. Always wanted one just like you said based on the same reasons. I have owned two Rock Island 1911's right now I have the Rock ultra FS in 45 and I absolutely love this gun and I am planning on getting it Cerakoted here later on probably armorer black.
Armed & Steady Firearms Channel I think they make the best guns for the money. Later I am planning on getting one of the pump shotguns for home defense.
Armed & Steady Firearms Channel I have my CCW license here in Kentucky and I carry my FS Rock Island ultra every day and I really don't have a problem carrying it concealing either.
You are so right about the 1911.I was never really interested in one before, but finally felt I should have one for nostalgia reasons... it just feels like a million bucks in the hand. Mine is a GI replica 1911a1. When i first got it it was packed with lube. I cleaned mine down to the component level with brake cleaner and blew it out with an air compressor ,and have broke it in absolutely dry, it shoots great ,and the trigger pull broke into 5 1/4 lbs from 8 3/4 lbs. Now i lube it with a couple drops of oil on the rails after 1000 rds break in .unlike you i do carry mine all the time . Jim
I have a RIA 1911 Gov't in 38 Super. Fantastic shooter, deadly accurate. Two changes, installed Trijicon tritium sights, and some Altamont rosewood grips for looks.
i NOW HAVE 3 1911'S. one is Sig 1911-22, the other 2 are ROCK ISLAND's. One in 9mm and one in 45 ACP. Love these guns. At the range, 20 yds I shoot golf balls, yes golf balls. drill and mount screw eyelet and .032 safety wire to hang by. As a retired Nam Vet, if you can hit a golfball with 22,9 and 45 you are doing all right. ROCK ISLANDS are just a super gun. NO ISSUES. Winchester stell ammo bullets are dog shit.
Slight correction. Armscor (Rock Island) has been in business since 1905. Started off as a print shop, but they began making firearms. They were bought out in 1941 and started making firearms in their present corporation in 1952. I had no idea they were that old. Surprised me, frankly.
Shot my buddy's 1911 (10mm kimber) and put 7 holes in a man-sized target from 50 yards. They weren't center mass, but it was the first time I'd ever touched a 1911. Loved it. Since then I've looked at Ruger and RIA. RIA has some good looking guns and I hear nothing but good stuff about them. I'm going to pick one up in .45 and start working at proficiency.
I bought the ria fs in 9mm a few years ago and I loved it. My brother who was a new shooter got best in his ccw permit class with it. He loved it so much i gave it to him as his first gun. I gotta get another one they are great 1911's.
I fell in love with the 1911 at Ft. Bragg in 1978. Went to the CZ-75 for a short time. But pulled the .45 out of the safe, and stored the CZ. With a good holster, the 1911 government model can be carried concealed summer and winter.
RIA bought and are in the old Colt factory so it is basically Colt parts. At least that is the info I received from a dozen gun shops before purchasing mine. Have mine a year Great quality gun happy with my purchase no complaints. Nice review 👍🏽
Picked up the Tactical II FS 10mm last week... LOVING IT! JUST WISH IT CAME WITH MORE THAN ONE MAG. 10mm mags aren't cheap. This pistols is more than worth it though. Enjoy the one Devildog!
Damn! What a nice deal for a cerakoted 1911 with all its features! I grew up shooting Citadel 1911's, which is a brother to Rock Island. I kinda want a classic, GI styled 1911 by Rock Island sometime when I get some money lol.
I am really happy with the Rock Island that you sold me today. I hadn't considered Rock Island until you put one in my hands. The quality is excellent and it shoots very nice. Thanks, see you soon.
Many people don't know this but the rock island 1911 is made in the Philippines in a old colt factory that's a colt at half price I couldn't resist when I seen one had to buy!!!!
Bravo-Zulu!! Those look like VZ grips they are Very nice!! You did Well Grasshopper! When you start to carry it I would suggest going with Hornady Critical Defense since the profile of the bullet works better with the angle in the 1911 without a ramped barrel.
af22raptor23503 Personally I have tried bothe the Hornady CD and good old fashion Winchester Green Box JHP and both run reliably enough to recommend either of them. Benefits of the Winchester Green Box JHP is the price... it was $25 for a box of 50 about 2 months ago when I picked up a few boxes at Wal-Mart. So I'd dare to say that they are cheap enough to use at the range and for self defense.
Winchester do feed reliably too but they do not expand as reliably as the Hornady CD because the cavity gets clogged without expansion where the Hornady's polymer tip assures that the projectile will expand. I have seen first hand testing on dead pigs bodies of 9mm, 40sw and 45acp with great expansion as advertised. After the testing we pulled the slugs and then we had some great BBQ!
I get my defense ammo online when it goes on sale and get a few 100 rounds of each caliber that I carry. A couple of years ago when hornady discontinued zombie max and was able to get 140 rds of 45acp that I still have in my carry mags. I swap out my carry ammo every January with new Fresh Ammo and the ammo that was in the mags inside the gun gets used on the first trip to the range of the year as well as the ammo in the shoulder rig. So every January I normally fire off about 25 round of 45acp CD/ZM ammo.
Got the other one this past Wednesday Love it! Gonna pop in one of these Saturday's and talk to you about CC holsters for it Thanks for the help last Saturday c u soon :)
I have 2 1911's. I have a SDS 1911 and a Citadel. I love them both ! SDS is stock. Citadel I changed to glow sights, and I put rose wood skull grips on. But now after watching this I want to pick up a Rock Island.
Good vid on Rock Island 1911 Tactical. I have the 1911 mil-spec A1 FS. Love the accuracy, shooting golfballs at 36 yds. PLUS, I also have the same 1911 in 9mm. I further have a Sig-Saure 1911-22. Fixing to get the TandemKross accurizing kit for it, My dad carried his 1911 in WWII, and was second wave at Normandy. I am a 'Nam and SEA Vet. Yup, I DO love my 1911's. Truth be told, I dp prefer 45 over my 9.
I bought the same gun it was a Davidson's exclusive design I looked at three reviews and made my decision I also own a GI base model ms or mid size love both can't beat the quality price and the series 70!
I saw this in the gun shop I go to earlier today. I’m a .45 man yet I’ve never owned or shot a 1911. Now I have to choose if I want this or the Gen 4 GLOCK 21.
Go with the Rock Island if your getting it for a range gun, Glocks are good for being durable and reliable but they shoot like bricks-they're made for combat only, 1911s are multi purpose.
the 1911 45 is the only military side arm truely combat tested it is and was a gun GIs and Marines swore by if you doubt it check its record in the pacific saved my uncles life from a crazed attack of a japanese soldier. It brought a lot of veterans home
Mec Gar might be the same mags that come with the RIA 1911. Both made in Italy. Just branded differently. Quite a few 1911 guns use Mec Gar manufactured mags, just rebranded for their gun.
Ray G MMC 7 round magazines (miniature machine Corp)with rounded followers are very good at 14 dollars apiece, but Wilson 47D and Tripp cobra mags are the best.
I have the same exact model, and cerakote. My sights had dimples on the back. Just used some bright orange fingernail polish on them and wiped away the excess.
Just got a Rock Island 1911 little over a week ago I’m like you been wanting one for a long time haven’t had the time to shoot it yet but really want to just need some more ammo
Nice video sir, I will get a 1911 one of these days. At first I was interested in the commander but after handling and shooting both I to like the standard 5in better. The grip length is the same and they little extra barrel balanced it nice plus if you do carry it the barrel length is not really as much of an issue. I did recently like last week pick up a Glock 30s I’ve got 150 rounds in it and zero malfunctions and I can carry if pretty easy. Keep up the good work.
I used to own a Rock Island armory mine was railed but it was a good gun I now own a Girson it's a good gun I have three 7 round magazine and one 8 round magazine
Great gun, man! Like I mentioned before, my buddy has the exact same one, except in black. Easy fix on the sights: take some of your wife's nail polish to it. Start with a white under coat, then add green or orange if you want.
Fellsbane I’ve painted them before. I think I’m just gonna leave them blacked out for now. If it becomes a problem I might just get new Sights. Well see

Tight patterns, easy to control, built tight! and a lot more comfortable to carry than my old Glock (in my personal opinion and experience.)
My only problem with it is that it doesn't like HP rounds. Pushed the bullet into the casing with the feed ramp the first time I tried. But overall, I really enjoy it and I know that with proper maintenance, this gun will outlast me.
Maine is the only place to live!
Ur going to love ur 1911 from rock island i love mine and its my duty weapon
thurman ray already loving it. Just started carrying it daily today. By far I’m a better shot with this pistol than any other pistol I own.
Thank you!
I carry mine as a duty pistol too
@@crankybuzzard6867 What brand of grips?
@@danielwillett7164 you would ask..... lol. They were hard to find. I'll check it out and try to let you know Daniel.
450 for the rock island I just bought. I love it. Great feel and amazing firearm
Got mine for $375 on GB...the fixed sight, beaver tail, skeleton trigger model...and I LOVE IT ! (have owned most all big name 1911s)
I have one of these on layaway right now. Shot my buddy’s 1911, and it sold me. I’ll probably get a recover tactical grip to mount a light.
I went with a Taurus PT 1911. It is a tight, well made handgun with an excellent trigger. I can’t complain with a low to mid priced 1911.
I just picked mine up today! I LOVE IT!!! looks sharp and feels great!
John Rodriguez How does it shoot? Any issues?
Dave FS I have had no issues. It's shot everything ive put through it with no problems. As a matter of fact, it shoots the same if not better than my Springfield Armory V10 Ultra Compact that I bought years ago for double the price. I'm satisfied. Hope this helped
Just ordered a Rock Island Rock Ultra fs 45acp. Can't wait for it to come in
ME TOOOOO!!!!!!!! IM SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@leadhead7338 got mine in and love it so far! Haven't shot it yet but love the fit and finish of the gun. A real tight fit no wobble at all excellent trigger feels good in the hand.
@@mrhk1895 I also have the RIA commander A1 in.45 and was so impressed with it for the price!
you just cant go wrong at these prices , especially when offering these exclusive editions with upgrades.
the one i ordered is in 10MM though YEEHAA! AMERICA STRONG STAY FREE and LONG LIVE THE REPUBLIC!
@@leadhead7338 the double stack 10mm is my next purchase
This 1911 is my 4th and I can't wait to try it out
Just put 1 of these in Californias 10day jail program. I stayed away from 1911s long enough. This 1 caught my eye. Ill give it a shot, 😉.
Bought one yesterday, on Father's Day at a gun show. $479 out the door. Put 50 rounds through it this morning, and I like it.
Thumbs up.
Thank you John Browning, the Browning hi power is very similar. I'll always take the 1911 though.
I always wanted a 1911 finally got one last year and love it!
I want one in 9mm Bc it’s all I shoot n practice I save money to 45 is still higher sadly an always will be
I have a 1911 produced in 1913. My favorite firearms
Mike Williams nice
I have the RI M1911 A1 FS 45 acp, Matt nickel slide. Solid made, reliable, shoots very well. I love it.
I just got the 1911A1 “Tactical” from Rock Island. White dot sights on the rear and a red fiber optic on the front.
I just got one too!! Need to shoot it!!
I got one of these full size GI. My first 1911 & second pistol I've ever owned, I love it. Great review, keep up the great content.
I just got one of these yesterday. I love it better than my glocks. Way more accurate. Or it is more comfortable which makes it accurate. Love mine
1911s are the most accurate and best shooting pistols
Good choice. RIA is a great company with top notch customer service.
Great shooters
@@ArmedSteadyFirearmsChannel Yes sir!
I just picked up a RIA 1911 full size .45 acp. And I love it. Great quality firearm
Thanks for the vid (4 + yrs later). O311 hear 2002-2009 and I jus bought the same identical pistol. Always wanted one just like you said based on the same reasons. Bought it on a whim andGot home and said “what the hell did I just buy?” Dude, this review made my day and not regret my purchase! Time to go put more rounds downrange.
I really like 1911's!!! It's acurate, tough, and it's almost like self cleaning.
I have owned two Rock Island 1911's right now I have the Rock ultra FS in 45 and I absolutely love this gun and I am planning on getting it Cerakoted here later on probably armorer black.
Anthony Maddix awesome man. They do make good guns
Reviewing ours now and so far it is awesome!
ThunderMountain Tactical I’m loving it so far. They definitely make good 1911s
I own this same RI 1911 OD green in .45ACP. Great gun and worth 550 bucks I paid for it brandnew.
The 8 round Italian mags that come with the RIA's are good!
Love my RIA 1911 FS after 500 rds.
Picked up the Tactical II FS 10mm last week... LOVING IT! JUST WISH IT CAME WITH MORE THAN ONE MAG. 10mm mags aren't cheap. This pistols is more than worth it though. Enjoy the one Devildog!
Devildog nothing about 10mm is cheap unfortunately. Badass caliber, quality gun, but expensive.
Enjoy yours too man. Semper Fi!
I just got me one not too long ago. You should do a cleaning video on this gun! It feels like a great sturdy gun
I bought my RIA 1911 the other day. I only put 50 rounds through it and i love it.
Damn! What a nice deal for a cerakoted 1911 with all its features! I grew up shooting Citadel 1911's, which is a brother to Rock Island. I kinda want a classic, GI styled 1911 by Rock Island sometime when I get some money lol.
Just bought one exactly like that. Rock island. And it's well built. 🤘
Just becuz.......I took some emery paper and polished the end of the barrel on mine. Really makes the muzzle stand out with the black barrel bushing.
I am really happy with the Rock Island that you sold me today. I hadn't considered Rock Island until you put one in my hands. The quality is excellent and it shoots very nice. Thanks, see you soon.
KRct R it’s a really good pistol man. Hence, why I carry it daily
Heard many great story’s about Rock island 1911’s, can’t beaten for the money. Owned a Taurus PT 1911 and miss it want another one that’s Railed.
MHSMOKEEATER rock island does have railed models too. They are usually in the $600+ dollar range
I am about 600 rounds or more through my RIA fs tac II ultra 45 acp. She is a good shooter runs great and accurate .
i own this gun its awesome! the color grows on you, the only thing i changed was the mainspring housing to a smooth one.
Many people don't know this but the rock island 1911 is made in the Philippines in a old colt factory that's a colt at half price I couldn't resist when I seen one had to buy!!!!
Nice to see a young man excited about the 1911
Very Enlightening, Love the way you explain things. Respect
Bravo-Zulu!! Those look like VZ grips they are Very nice!! You did Well Grasshopper! When you start to carry it I would suggest going with Hornady Critical Defense since the profile of the bullet works better with the angle in the 1911 without a ramped barrel.
af22raptor23503
Personally I have tried bothe the Hornady CD and good old fashion Winchester Green Box JHP and both run reliably enough to recommend either of them.

Thanks for the help last Saturday c u soon :)
I have 2 1911's. I have a SDS 1911 and a Citadel. I love them both ! SDS is stock. Citadel I changed to glow sights, and I put rose wood skull grips on. But now after watching this I want to pick up a Rock Island.
A solid piece accurate 1911 made in my country.
Those are great sights on that 1911, they beat the milspec ones that the Navy used back in early 80's.
the 1911 45 is the only military side arm truely combat tested it is and was a gun GIs and Marines swore by if you doubt it check its record in the pacific saved my uncles life from a crazed attack of a japanese soldier. It brought a lot of veterans home
Picked mine up for $510. $529 when all was said and done.
I recommend mec gar mags for 1911s they work amazing
TheGinger GunGuy they make great mags
Armed & Steady Firearms Channel Wilson 47D 7 round, ever faithful.
I have one Willson Combat 7 round mag. I picked it up used for $10. It worked great. New, they are expensive.
This makes me more confident in my 1911 its an armscor rock island in chrome. It looked sweet and it shoots sweeter. Thanks for the vid
I have the same exact model, and cerakote. My sights had dimples on the back. Just used some bright orange fingernail polish on them and wiped away the excess.
Love the back round noise. I subscribed instantly. Real people
Mang Led McGee I appreciate it. Welcome to the channel
Just got a Rock Island 1911 little over a week ago I’m like you been wanting one
for a long time haven’t had the time to shoot it yet but really want to just need some more ammo
Saltwater Shooter the only 1911 size I like is full size. Anything else doesn’t do it for me.
Well see
I like the series 70 trigger on these guns.
I have a American Tactical M1911 Military and i love it!! Has not failed me at all. Cheap gun great weapon. Could you make a video or just give some advice on mod? Love your videos best out of all i have watched on youtube.
Picked my RIA 1911 last summer. other than ammo being scarce I've been just tickled. The wife always knows when I slip off to the range by the idiot grin on my mug. Even new- operates fantastic, eats about anything...
GREAT SIDEARM!
Got the doublestack 10mm a couple years back, that thing is a beast! 😳👍🏻
I'm gonna buy one when I retire in the Philippines!
