In 1234, the Northern Song was conquered by the Mongols, who took control of northern China, maintaining uneasy relations with the Southern Song. Möngke Khan, the fourth Great Khan of the Mongol Empire, died in 1259 while besieging the city of Chongqing. His younger brother Kublai Khan was proclaimed the new Great Khan. Kung Fu queen Chia Ling stars as a Sung dynasty Assassin in this epic kung fu film.

Superb movie.First time I saw this in 1981.Great plot & action.
Supported by many top film stars at that era.
Roc Tien Peng & Hsu Feng play well as twin hero/heroine.
Unfortunately,Judy Lee (Chia Ling) had to play the role as a bad villain in this title & I think it's only in this movie (on the other movies,she always plays a role as a good heroine).
As always,mostly Pai Ying plays well as a bad villain.

Director did a FABULOUS job on this film. What a detailed, complicated, and precision work of sword and weapon demonstration along of course with the story line. Commenter Hondoko Honggo put well said of this movie. Action especially great with Chia and Hsu jealously (kung fu) fighting so much. The end, well not exactly predictable even though some here don't like it. All around real stellar movie !
The long time days of Pai Ying ,his movies are Better coordinated than that of Wang Yu's ,another master ,they are also better directed ,better plots , thumbs up

In time of war one does NOT fall in love with the enemie just like that in a few days!!! The ending was stupid for a top stars movie!!! Chia didn't show all of her skills as well as all the others top stars. It was a very low budget movie for sure....It was fun anyway!......

Leng Yang Good or bad are relative terms and in the eye of the beholder. If the Mongols rule today, the Mongols would consider the prince general a hero who sacrificed his life and his sister's life to save the love of his life.

Tedious plot intrigue which would have been tolerable if the action was epic or the kung fu was realistic which neither were... another mediocre effort no matter how much i love Feng Hsu
