Officers help with town centre clean-up

- Police officers joined a team of dedicated volunteers to spruce up Mansfield town centre and reach out to members of the public.
The officers were taking part in a day of action organised by the Business Improvement District (BID), during which they painted, scrubbed, pruned and litter-picked the area around Market Square.
The officers were joined by Mayor Andy Abrahams, staff from Mansfield District Council, Mansfield Building Society, West Notts College students and other volunteers on Tuesday.
As well as lending several helping hands to the clean-up effort, officers also held a regular drop-in beat surgery to discuss issues with shoppers, traders and residents.
They also interrupted anyone seen riding a bike or a scooter through the town centre, and responded to several shop theft reports.

Great stuff 👍🏼… but a trained police officer with X amount of years experience picking cigarette butts up??? We have mobile phones taken off people at knife point, watch thefts, sexual assaults in broad daylight… Do you not think that another region’s police force would appreciate some help?.. Prisoners getting three square meals a day, playing pool and having a few hours in the gym would have a spare half hour of community service to paint a letter box and up a few butt ends??? Please give your head a wobble police… and have the audacity to say your force is stretched to capacity?… I love what you’re doing but you really need to get your sh!t together!!!

Lovely police officer, wonderful that he's a local lad. We appreciate the police force working all over Nottingham. They do a fantastic job. Thank you for keeping Nottingham safe.
What a waste of tax payers money!! Supposedly trained officers litter picking, when all were told is how stretched the police force is, it's laughable really.
have they been ordered to do this by the local Muslim community now runningg the police
