Trent Edwards from 2007 to early 2008 showed some flashes of promise. He was 9-4 in his first 13 starts and was showing improvement during that second season. And then he took that hit from Adrian Wilson in Arizona and was never the same player. You have to wonder, had it not been for all the hits he took at Stanford and the concussions/injuries he suffered in his first two years in the NFL, would he have developed into a better-than-mediocre quarterback? Sadly, we'll never know.
As a Bills fan its funny how people think a hit ruined him. He was always a below average QB. He would rarely throw a pass 15 yards and he just dumped it off to Fred Jackson or Marshawn Lynch. Terrell Owens had one of his worst seasons ever with him at QB. Trent looked his way maybe 2 or 3 times a game. When Fitz came in to replace him T.O actually had passes thrown his way more often. Trent is one of the worst QB'S in Bills history.
He was a lot more than just a burner, was 5'10" but thrived in the red zone, worked the middle of the field, played contested catches really well. I think he could have been an OK #1 target but would have been a game changing #2 with competent qb play ala DeSean Jackson, Will Fuller, Mike Wallace etc. Evans was my favorite player during that unwatchable period of time.
People say he was trash but that’s only because they remember post concussion Edwards. I remember watching him play to 9 wins and 4 losses and thought that he had a chance of developing into a franchise QB, even with the terrible Dick Juron as HC. Then the concussion (probably his 6th of his career including college) happened and he was just terrible after it.
If ranking the drought era QBs in Bills history, I think Trent Edwards was the third best. Fitz and Tyrod I'd have at one and two. Edwards, with a competent staff, would have been a better than average game manager, maybe along the lines of a Tannehill or Alex Smith. A QB you could win with, but not really because of.
This kid was pretty decent before the hit against the cards. He would stand in the pocket and make some good throws. After the hit he would check down all the time not wanting to get hit.
I went to every home game he played. He made the best of what he could. He never seemed right after the big hit against Arizona. There is no reason to belittle a guy who played for that staff. He took a beating every time. Turk was a joke and Dick was a Richard. I talked to turk after the 49ers game we lost 13 to like 10 because Turk stop running Beast Mode. They were puppets
I remember his first (start) game against the Jets - I really thought he was going to be the “one” after Jim Kelly. I think getting that concussion really changed the trajectory of his career. Can’t defend him being, “Mr. Check-down” - but he wasn’t the same after that brutal hit.
I heard he lost half of his vision from that hit and could not see crossing patterns after that. Thus he held the ball too long and checked it down - I always thought that was a cheap shot by the Cardinals.
Moss 84 he was playing very well before his concussion against the cards. I forgot the year but Edwards was playing good before that injury, he was never the same
Trent's concussion happened in 2008 vs. Arizona Cardinals. This was the year that the Cardinals went to the Super Bowl. Bills were 4-0 going into that game. The Bills won the next week vs. San Diego Chargers it was the game that the power went out. The Bills were 5-1 at that point and went 2-8 after that to end up 7-9. Trent was never the same after that hit.
I was living in Hamburg at the time of that dolphins game that royal had 2 tds. Saw him at big tree late night after the game. Bought him and Lee Evans a drink. Asked for an autograph. The responses I got from them: "Fuck you white boy" and "You're lucky we don't take all your money"
Hahahahha that’s awesome, some guys are just dicks but funny looking back, bills seem like mostly standup guys now and are actually talented. Mediocre scumbags back then and it showed
Concussion or no Concussion he still looked mediocre he was allergic to throws longer then 10 yards and 300 yard games were just myhts with him in there glad we finally found a real franchise QB
Too bad for us Bills fans the the two best QB's in team history were on the same team from 1986-94. Hopefully the 2018 draft can end all this QB misery.

@@buffalobraves9 I’ve watched the bills the past 20 years and he was the worst QB out of them all. I don’t have to justify it. He got destroyed by Wilson and guess what? The frustrating thing was knowing football well the ins-and-outs the x's and the O's and knowing that this guy was not a good quarterback he was just getting lucky every time he dropped back into the pocket and just knowing that once again we didn't have the proper quarterback and once again we didn't have the right coaching staff and then it all came to fruition and I said told you so

The concussion against the Cardinals changed him. He was gun-shy after that.

Exactly. The Cardinals game turned him into the checkdown master we all loathed...
Its wild tho the next game (bye then game) vs san diego he played pretty good, then 💩

@@shawnford9104 I never saw a QB play so scared, like Edwards.
I like to think in an alternate universe, Edwards is rounding out a HOF career with the bills….. tear*
Lee Evans was underrated.
Josh Allen makes Edwards look like a hs player lol
Forever our most underrated QB.
I thought we had our QB for a year or so, and then the hit against the Cards Happened.
Lee Evans such an underrated player

Captain Checkdown he really could have been good if not for the concussions. How did you get that 07 footage especially the Miami game?
A couple years back I saw Trent Edward's at the Cheesecake factory. And the shocking part was he WASNT working there.
