I’m Japanese, so I’m throwing this out there. If the Japanese racing industry can’t field even a HANDFUL of experienced outriders to properly handle these horses safely, then get out of racing. EVERY video I see seems to look like the keystone cops trying to catch an out of control frightened horse!!!! It’s embarrassing and IMPOSSIBLE to defend!
I agree. If the horses aren't throwing tantrums they're getting under the barrier and taking off. Some injure themselves quite badly trying to crash through the rails too. That female jockey is a great rider and can handle flighty horses but she shouldn't Have to. Nor should any of the jockeys. The outriders need to step up and handle the horses a lot better because horse and jockey are at risk.
@@stephanieyee9784 A number of American trainers now do quite a bit of dressage early in a horse's training. I have always thought that was a good idea, as it makes the horse more sensitive and responsive to a rider's directions.
I would love Nanako to come ride in Australia. That way she would have female rivals in every race. We have heaps of lady riders here , and they can ride , don’t worry about that.

Have you ever even seen one of these in person?? The fabric allows heat to escape. It's not like a parka that is meant to keep in. The hoods and blinkers are made of breathable material that allows heat to escape. Don't talk about something you know nothing about

Saw 'breathability' advertised has nothing to do fabric being breathable as we've come to assume it to means. It was quite difficult to find was on youtube. Sorry, you're wrong. Maybe if you ran water through would demonstrate the impermeable structure of it. But manufacturers should be placing primary importance to the fact that, that is the place where mammals generate most heat. Top head, brain. It's very simple if you want to be kind. I haven't added yet, I don't know why it hasn't become obvious. All the horses without hoods & ears "aren't" going nuts. Ha ha ha

Someone Please start designing noise resistant hoods WITH addition of MANY large holes or triangle holes at top of head or poll where brain releases a lot of Heat. Heat need escape! Poor horse's going Mental because heat not given escape at poll area. And needs holes back of ears & large holes at side of face. Total ignorance in design & a cruel. Wear a tied parka hat yourself & see how your brain activity creates Unbearable heat. Japan should not allow racing in hoods. Blinkers need holes at top of head also.
Why Japan doesnt use lead horses to 'Pony" these horses out onto the track is curious. They seem poorly schooled for job of walking out there and jogging to the gate. Should have been couple riders to catch that loose horse as well. Letting it run on is asking for disaster.
@angelaschmalzbauer I race, and the whip needs to be used hard to keep the horse focused. Some horses can be very lazy and need the whip to wake them up.
@@angelaschmalzbauer I've got 2 rides tomorrow, and 1 of them is known for being lazy, and the trainer told me to go to the whip as soon as the gate opens, and give the horse a very hard ride with my whip.
These Chinese jockeys are too whip happy beating their horses when they play up bless them they are being yanked in the mouth the lot these poor young horses
Julia Hurley I've raced, and iv seen this happen a few times, and you are right, these jockeys are whip happy, the jockey will have whipped the horse really hard, but nothing compared to the punishment the horse will get after the race.
