For anybody watching this in 2024 the newer generation of this head unit is the DMH-W2700 NEX and it has WIRELESS Carplay. This is a huge upgrade considering like he said there is nowhere to put your phone while driving. So your phone now doesn’t have to leave your pocket at all.

Yep, watched your install video on the 1400 SEVERAL TIMES, before diving in to my own. I did the 4660 and the Vettenuts bezel for a SUBSTANTIAL ADDED COST however, I wanted wireless CarPlay, and a stock look. Still, appreciated your video on your install. 👍🏻
I clicked on a recommended video about the old c6 corvette review and liked it, I then went to view the account and was surprised by the guy I saw on the channel until I realized the video I had just watched was from four years ago. 😂
I bought this dash kit and yours fits so much better than mine. My key hole is off to the right and the top is also short leaving big gap at the top left. I think mine must have been made on a Friday.
7:47 Why not run that cable to the center console with an adapter to replace the 12v port instead? Seems like the best option considering the center console is the only place to put a phone in a C5
Thanks for your channel. Your video convinced me to 1). get a Pioneer 2660 which has touch screen AND a remote (no fingermarks) lol and 2). have someone else install it. The Bose speakers really sound GREAT with the Pioneer compared to old factory unit. A noticable improvement. As you said a harness was required and they also put in video lockout bypass trigger. I also had the shop put in a back up camera as well. Additionally, I had the cig lighters converted to USB's so one on the dash/console is just for charging and the one in the armrest box is where I connect the stereo to the iphone. Keep up the good work. Are your clear turn signal lights from Vette Lights?
the metra has the same fitment issues, I tried forever to straighten it too and it didn't go that well. I think I needed to drill the holes differently on the chassis holders.
6’5”, Ha, I’m 5’6” and the factory coating on my 03 AE (shale color ) is wearing out the same as yours is. I think it’s a 6 speed thing and because we actually drive our cars instead of just looking at them.
I took out all the bose crap a few weeks ago. Replaced it with a full Kenwood system ( - the self powered Rockford sub). Now im getting intermittent cut outs from everything going to the amp. Either gotta rewire when I can finally get a heater in my garage, ugh
I considered this one when I was buying one to upgrade my C5, but I went with a Jensen (can't remember the model at the moment) for several reasons. 1. I don't really need Apple carplay or Android auto, just Bluetooth for calls and streaming music. 2. It had inputs for both a backup and a front camera. I don't know about the rest of you, but I have a problem judging the distance to curbs in my C5. Nothing else... Just my Corvette... Adding a front camera has saved the nose of my car... 😉 If anyone is interested in the unit I went with, I'll be glad to comment later with that info, and where I purchased it. FYI - The front camera mounted easily to the brake vent on the nose with included double sided tape, and isn't really noticeable unless you are looking for something.
Nice radio but those aftermarket bezels are a hard no for me. The flip door and lid on the cup holder are just too nice to give up IMO. Also the finish. If you get that expensive vettenuts bezel then it could be nice but the joying 8.8 radio is definitely a better buy for the c5. I feel bad for saying this, but you really should consider adding the alternative solutions in the description because there is a better solution at a similar price point (joying 8.8 is $400)

I can live with the stock Bose radio in my '98. I need something to replace my heating/cooling module, or at least a way to fix the fact that the light has burned out and doesn't display anymore. I think something can be re-soldered inside it??
My AC/Heater control is completely dark now, lasted a while just dim. There are companies you can take it out and send it (I would mark it and take pictures to recover your unit back.) and they would resolder. There are a few Videos on the Tube and seems easy enough. I will most likely do it myself soon. Also my ECBM needs resoldering so that's a metal burning party. Whoohoo

personally i put in one with a fold out screen so that it fits into a one din space, but it was more expensive, it was whatever pioneer unit i got, i think it was $750, but gives it more of a stock look if i tuck the screen away

I upgraded my C-5 with a new touch screen. Sound is awesome. My only regret is not having a steering wheel control.
