  • I'm Dr. Bill Browning, Orthopedic Sports Medicine Specialist at Florida Orthopaedic Associates, and today I'm going to be answering some questions from our patients.
All right, so the question is, “When do you see an orthopedic sports medicine specialist versus a general orthopedic surgeon?”
The injury or the ailment which is causing the pain that has prompted this person to come see us, if it's more related to ligament, tendon, muscle injuries around the joint. Then you are more likely to see a sports medicine specialist.
If it's, say, a condition such as arthritis or an acute fracture, a fracture that occurs from, say, a car accident, you may see a trauma, orthopedic trauma, or you may see, an orthopedic reconstructive surgeon such as Dr. Hollmann. It really depends on what the ailment is, what's causing the pain and who you would see.
