- Sky News host Liz Storer says the “war on cash continues” after Bankwest announced they will close three more branches in Western Australia.
The bank’s move is a bid to go “almost solely digital”.
“They’ve just announced they’re going to close three more branches in WA, which incidentally is the only state left in which they still have a physical presence,” Ms Storer said.
“For crying out loud.
“How does a major Australian bank, they serve 1.1 million people across our nation - just get to be like, yeah, no, we’re not doing cash anymore, it’s just not a thing.”

I pay in cash for almost everything and I try to keep it under 599 dollars when possible. Here in the U.S. the government tracks all digital payments over 600 or more.

NAB has announced more closures in Victoria. Shame on them..... I now deal in cash only and I am about to cancel my credit card. It's all about the banks getting more money, in feed, out of their customers.

Also we need to use cash at every opportunity to avoid digital currency.

People are using less cash because all banks have been making it almost impossible over the last couple of years to withdraw cash from their accounts.
My local ATM was removed but they've had to put it back.
I bought a few items at a garage sale for $50. I gave him a $50 note. The seller bought some new shoes with that $50 note. The shoe shop owner used the $50 note to buy some groceries. The grocer used the same note to buy a crate of watermelons from a local farmer. The farmer bought $50 worth of fuel for his tractor. The fuel seller bought his children some second-hand school uniforms with the $50. The mother who sold the second-hand uniforms put an extra $50 worth of food on the table for her children, using the $50 note. This continued for a multitude of transactions and every time the $50 was still worth the original $50.
Now, using a card, the seller only received $49.90. The next seller only received $49.80. The next only received $49.70 ... this process continued until the whole $50 card payment was swallowed up in bank fees and resulted in $00.00, zero, zilch, nothing, nowt. No wonder banks want to remove cash from society.
Going 100% digital will give ultimate control to the government. We need technology but this is a hard no for the average person. We do not need to give up our freedom in the name of so called advancement. Use Cash.
I went into a bank and asked if I could purchase a bag of 20c coins ( for parking meters ), they told me I could only buy them if I had an account here, I had the money in my hand to pay for it, and I refused to move until the manager came out and I was able to convince him that he was not going to be out of pocket by the transaction.
No bank's want CDBC'S all digital that way They can track everything U buy.
Which will lead to Social credit scores, just like China.
They can limit what you buy and pretty much what you can spend.

Tellers dispensing cash or taking deposits don't make the bank profits, infact it costs them money, but could win them customers.. They much prefer electronic payment where they can turn a profit on every transaction. When they're successful in getting rid of cash, watch how quickly fees and charges go up.

There will be one bank only in the end. The commonwealth bank and we will all have to be signed up to it. Like Telstra seems to be the chosen phone and wifi service. Its the only one not breaking down. It is quite expensive though so im still with Optus until i can't be.

I haven’t been using cash since 2016 in Canada. Even now on-street pay stations don’t take cash. Some of the banks have reduced the teller counters so it’s very quiet in some places.
