  • Seo é Niall Hanna, Amhránaí na Bliana '21 Gradam Ceoil TG4, ag canadh 'The Rambling Irishman' leis an t-amhránaí iomráiteach Len Graham.
Tugann an tsraith nua seo léargas ar ochtar de na ceoltóirí óga is fearr atá inniu ann agus gheobhaidh siad deis an sárchumas ceoil atá iontu a léiriú i gcuideachta roinnt de na ceoltóirí is mo cáil.
The recipient for this year's Singer of the Year is Niall Hanna from Derrytresk, Co. Tyrone. Niall's musical education began as a very young boy at home on the shores of Lough Neagh. His grandfather Geordie Hanna, Geordie's sister Sarah Anne O'Neill, and the extended Hanna and O'Neill families ensured he was immersed in the songs, stories and music of the lough shore from a very early age.
Sruth unearths the most exciting new talents in Ulster and Scotland, capturing seminal performances from eight young musicians alongside well established performers.

Good as it is to hear both of them together, when Len Graham sings on his own, it is clear that he is a great traditional singer

One of my favorite songs- the older mans voice is incomparable

The voice of the young man is beautiful, the "lived" voice of the old man is also beautiful.

Passing of the torch. Two generations doing credit to the Irish song tradition here: beautiful. Niall’s playing of nylon string adds something here, sounds like a harp in places. Glad to have found this.

I am a rambling Irishman, in Ulster I was born in,
And many’s the happy hour I spent by the banks of sweet Lough Erne.
For to live poor I could not endure like others of my station,
To America I sailed away and left this Irish nation.
Rite tan tan nana, tan tan nana
Rite tan tan nan ooran nan nandy
The night before we went on board I spent it with my darling,
From four o’clock in the afternoon till the break of day next morning.
But when that we were going to part we fell in each others’ arms,
You may be sure and very sure it wounded both our charms.
The first night that we spent on board I dreamed about my Nancy,
I dreamed I held her in my arms and well she pleased my fancy.
But when I woke out of my dream and found my bosom empty,
You may be sure and very sure that I lay discontented.
When we arrived on the other side we were both stout and healthy,
We dropped our anchor in the bay going down to Philadelphia.
Let every lad link with his lass, blue jacket and white trousers,
Let every lass link with her lad, blue petticoat and white flounces.
