    In beam I think we provide steel both top & bottom, so deduction of cover must be double 25+25 to calculate effective depth???

      We provide cover from both top and bottom side. But for calculating effective depth while considering tension side reinforcement, we take tension side cover. And for doubly r/f consider compression side cover.

    Effective Depth We Calculate as Overall Depth - Cover - 1/2 of Bar Dia, please confirm me if iam wrong

    I think effective depth d should be D minus cover minus half of dia of bar.

      d= D minus effective cover.
      Effective cover = clear cover + half dia of bar

      0.8 & 6% is only for longitudinal r/f.

    Maam please correct the calculation for effective depth.
    Eff Depth of beam = Depth of beam - (bottom cover+half of the steel dia)..
    Exp - taking Steel-12mm ,Cross section300×400.
    Effective depth = 400-(25+(12/2))=369.
    Others details are very usefull.

      Calculations in video are correct.
      effective cover considered in video not clear cover.
      In video "effective cover" consider
      So Effective depth = overall depth - effective cover
      Or if "clear cover" is given then formula become
      Effective depth = overall depth - half steel dia - clear cover.
      Effective cover = clear cover + half steel dia

      Effective depth = Overall depth - effective cover
      Effective cover is given in que not clear cover
      If clear cover is given then formula becomes
      Overall depth - clear cover - half dia of bar
