youre first attempt was good, if you sieged the settlement you could have taken it next turn and if you took both generals you could have built forts to delay them and make good units out of londinium. Thats how I would have tried that. Basicly you were to slow, like Legend always says you have to be agressive, if you siege them they will attack you from the city with theire army and you wont be surrounded or they will still go around and you can block them out and make good units
@@kianbakker3691 That's a good point. I did consider sieging them from the bridge, but I wasn't sure if it would move me off the bridge. The delaying with forts tactic is a good one that I'd forgotten about, thanks
We're so glad to see you back, man. Even if it's for just one more series, you always make great RTW videos. This series alone starting off 324 turns in, not just on the back foot, but stuck in a ditch is great. A unique challenge like this really sets it apart from the crowd. And n-none of us would ever dare doubt your supreme strength Lugotorix... of course... but this will most certainly be a great test of will!
It’s good to see you on RUclips again, Lugotorix. In case you’ve forgotten, let me remind you of the crucial importance of using the warcry ability when fighting as the Gauls. When fighting with most Gallic melee infantry, don’t forget to use their warcry ability before sending them to face the enemy! With warcry activated, your troops will have +10 melee attack for the next thirty seconds, which may be enough to turn the tide of a battle against more experienced enemies. The only downside is that your infantry will not be able to brace against a charge when doing their warcry animation, where they bash their swords and shields together and shout for a brief time before attacking. This is going to be a tough campaign, but I’m sure you’ll be able to use every tool in your arsenal to achieve victory. I wish you luck! 👍👍
The irish fighting the british, never seen it before lol. The irish being actually french is a twist that brits won't like but Lugotorix fan certainly would. All family members having a whole antourage of drunks and "wise men" which is also probably a type of drunk means that your factions military campaigns feel more like a village wedding than war, this would explain the warbands breaking after literally just seeing the enemy.
hahaha yeah I noticed lots of funny ironies too. These men have spent their whole lives drinking in Ireland, it's going to be an interesting campaign for them
So happy to see you back Lugotorix Gauls yes!!! Also I love that you read out loud the traits. One of the things Ive truly loved about RTW for around 20 years now have been to read the trait descriptions, building descriptions and the manual. It was just so much fun. I found out though that a very simple fix to the triggers for some of the traits were missing. Like iirc you can never improve good siege attacker. A bit odd something so simple wasn´t caught before the release of the game. My fav thing was when I got a 10/10/10 general on VH. Very fun. Was done as the Scipii (the best long-term roman factions imo)
Yes I love all the small details of Rome Total War, it really makes the experience immersive. 10/10/10 general is super impressive, I didn't even know that was possible
Lugatorix coming in here at the beginning of 2024 and instantly making it a better year than the last 2 years without. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Been dying for any of my favorite Rome Total War RUclipsrs he comes back. 😂 Crazy to me how old the game is now.
Really greatful for the challenging start. I enjoy a tough game. I once modded my files to start as seleukid in a 400 pop town in the corner north right, with just 1 general and nothing else. It was very fun trying to figure out how to expand and prosper. Keep it up
Whaaaaaat.....?! Lugotorix has returned??!!!! Bro, I'm hype for this video. I understand if you were burnt out on rome after making videos for so long. Maybe do roma surrectum 3 or europa barbarorum after this if you need a change
This challenge looks fun! The only issue i have with choosing a non-Roman faction, is that atleast 1 Roman faction gets their ass kicked. The Gauls will smoke the Julii, or Carthage will dominate Scipii, (Brutii are usually always a big player in my games) but thats my issue. I want to be a distant civilization, that conquers and grows, and eventually has to deal with a vast Roman Empire.....not 1 game has worked out this way lol
yeah I agree, but in this campaign I am dealing with a vast Roman empire because I have simmed so many turns. Usually one (or more) of the Roman factions struggle, but eventually they will always prevail. In this campaign most of the other factions have been destroyed lol
I’m quite intrigued by how you started this campaign, you start at a technological disadvantage and you started on Ireland. I’m excited to see your approach to this campaign. Good luck!
Lugo I love your content, you are one of my favourite youtubers out there. thanks for coming back. I am currently at 21:50 One important thing I notice is that you dont use warcry before engaging the enemy. The buff is HUGE. You need that because you will always have an inferior army. More so when your enemy uses it and you dont. Another minor thing is general units are the strongest units you have. You should probably bring the the other guy with you as well even when he is a drunk useless geezer. Other than those 2, it's just general potatoness lmao. Hope it helps! The campaign is really interesting.
Amazed there weren't tons of rebel and british boats guarding the channel. When you first landed you oughta sieged the city. Taken it then defended. The very first fight was the morale penalties but also that you were being attacked from both sides. The men were shaken by chariots but also by enemies approaching from the rear. That will absolutely terrify them in vh/vh. Second fight, those are very much not chosen swordsmen you are controlling. Maybe setting up an ambush would have been helpful. Saving those skirmishers for the chariots. Even setting yourself way back so you can tire out the enemies a bit and make them a bit more disorderly.
In the next game you send your faction leader out to die so your men have the other general be there leader and have great morale maybe your bad faction leader can do some damage before you are attacked
Hey Lugotorix LegendOfTotalWar started doing Rome/Med 2 Disaster Campaing again and I think that it would be funny if you send this one to him, you could even revied what he did in a video/stream idk Anyway it's good to see you again 🗿
Considering how useful all of these units were at the first battle i would have just went and disbanded everyone except cavalry units (though you can probably do just fine without light cavalry anyway)to train some completely not broken Wardogs and abuse mass routs using heavy cavalry but then there wouldn't be much of a challenge. To save some money in the long run building early simultaneously with the Wardog unit trains would have been probably worth the denarii, taking Londinium would have probably been easy against the like 2 defending units there without any losses since Wardogs replenish and don't cost much in terms of upkeep so you would end up barely in the positive after taking Londinium.
Sir, first of all, welcome back! Then, i should admit, the setting of this campaign could seems intresting, it adds a fresh difficulty novelty to the game but, still i must admit nit the kind of changes i like, i hoped more into a standard campaign, probably something like a seleuchid cone couöd be intresting. Unfortunately this game to me has suddenly stopped working properly a day the day before it works fine, while the day after, didn't. Trust me, i tried anything, seems like my computer didn't like the game anymore, so i can never play again this awesome game...
They have all been destroyed, most likely by the Romans. By this stage of the campaign only a few factions remain, but most people don't ever make it to this point
Probably my most chaotic start to a campaign yet...

You might want to set battle controls to FPS it is closer to Shogun 2
Irish campaign - both leaders are horrible drunks. I always knew Rome total war was the most historically accurate.
Lugo created his own "Saving your disaster campaign"
"One small village against the huge Roman Empire." - That sounds familiar.
Gods.....I haul Gauls....
But I'll make an exception for this campaign.....
haha we're roleplaying as Ireland if that's any consolation

Not a day passed in where I didn't't miss your videos. Glad you see you back Lugotorix!
Thank you for the support!

Fun fact, the only remarkable thing about visiting the Hill of Tara is how unremarkable it is! But Newgrange is nearby and that's fantastic.
ohh that's interesting. I might visit if I manage to complete this campaign haha
Please do visit! 😁

HE HAS RETURNED
as far as i know, there needs to be a Faction leader and Heir as a minimum to play. If one dies and no other family members, then game over.
I think if you get down to 1 family member the game automatically spawns another one (adoption) which means u always have 2
Really cool challenge. Out of interest, did you consider playing with the remastered RTW? If so, why did you decide against it?
I haven't played it yet but I might, I don't have much of an opinion on it yet. But I love the original tbh
Remastered is really nice, also easier for me personally to watch videos on because the graphics and UI are sharper
Great video!
