@HumbleMechanic Pulling my mk4 gti 24v out to do timing chains. The electric plugs that connect to the injectors are brittle due to age and heat. The plugs are ok but the plastic retainer clips on them broke. Will they be ok to reuse if retainers are gone? If not what can be done? Thanks
It’s a fantastic radio! The Bluetooth function is the best part of it. Got it myself for my Mk4. I’ve been using it for more than three years now, works great!
Was skeptic about the radio but I had it for two years and it worked flawlessly. Absolutely favourite mk4 radio since i hate the full screen android bullcrap. Recommended!
Rcn210 is a great cheap option, I have them in many Vw's. The button illumination will work if u connect light wire. I tap light wire into a nearby switch ( above) which has back ground lighting.
i installed one of these a few weeks ago in my GLI with a swapped display from clusters by litke to match the oem gauge cluster and original stereo display, and its been a great unit so far!
it seems like a pretty nice project for someone dedicated enough to do it. Personally I'm just way too much a cheap bastard to do this though. My life plan is basically give me the cheapest option I will find a way to make it work.
@@timesup6302 I have one and it works okay overall, the audio quality is probably 90% compared to aux in and there's a slight static you wouldn't notice when you aren't listening to music.

I have one of these in my 20th, not bad at all when it's working, however... the bluetooth stopped working after 23 months. The last 8 or 9 months the car wasn't even being used. 🤦🏻♂ When you factory reset them, the language is Chinese, so it's a fun game setting it back to English too. 😂 The volume they put out is crazy loud too, I had to be careful not to just blow the speakers into distortion hell. Something must be wrong with the way it sends the signal to the factory amp in the rear of the car. Also, the front/rear fader never worked, and the skip forward button has been a little finicky and gets stuck sometimes, since day one. Hoping I just got a bad one.
It was the only reason I got rid of my rcn210. I run the multifunction steering wheel with buttons on in my bora. Found out they don’t work with this radio so went back to standard
I have a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta 2.5 4 door My Cd player does not work anymore and 6 of my C d's are stuck inside so I am going to order a refurbish CD player but does not come with the radio code if I'm lucky maybe they will find the radio code Before I buy the radio from them if they don't have it what should I do Is there a radio website that I could go on ? I do all the work myself I do not want to go to the Volkswagen dealership Just for a radio code lol .
FYI. OE VW radios sound pretty bad. Not a good source. The factory speakers sound really good when you upgrade to a aftermarket radio. The issue with sound quality is not the speakers, it’s the radio. I will say though, factory radios sure do look good in the dash. I’m just not going to sacrifice SQ for looks. SQ above all else for me. 👍

Sucks that there's nothing cheap and good for my Mercedes. I have no Bluetooth or AUX, just FM radio and CD so i've been using an FM transmitter but it sounds like trash. Cheapest option is a chinese head unit, around 300€ including the optical adapter required for the Bose amplifier.
I've been wondering if I should do that to my B8 Passat. I'm worried though that I'll lose the connection to info on the dash display and the rear camera - which will stop the project right there. Btw. anybody who knows the cause of the volume button acting erratically when operated?

I repeated my comment and that got deleted as well. So what's happening here? Is the HUMBLE mechanic getting paid by RossTech? There are enough better options

Im so glad ur still workin on the R32! It helps a ton on my vr6 a3
I have the rcn210 and sounds great. Good thing that all the mk4s in Europe come with the dual (iso) plugs
I bought one new in 2019 when they were still €70 including shipping, it’s nothing fancy but it looks like it belongs and it works good enough.
I got this installed in Polo mk4.5, which is way much better than the original one
I loved that radio in my mk4 jetta. Now with a rcd310 in my b6 Passat
I removed the radio for a simple Bluetooth amplifier and installed extra gauges where the radio used to be.
Are you happy with it? Link?
A new head unit will make the test sound so much better especially on these monsoon speakers
