Let's appreciate that Mary tries really hard to do something in this situation not only complaining. She tries to stay positive and open for solutions.

I can’t believe I’m saying this but I agree with Mary. When things get bad, you have to put down your pride and do what’s best for your family. Even if it is a step down and that just made me sound like a lame after school special.
That’s a great after you give time to grieve. Losing a job you love is heartbreaking. You need some time and sympathy
George had a great opportunity for another job in another state and she shut that down. It paid more and the cost of the house would have been cover in the contract. That was him looking out for his family. It was HER pride that got in the way, because she didn’t want to leave her church.

Ironic her pride caused a lot of extra problems. For example forcing religion on Mandy and George's unborn child. Forcing marriage on them as well. She also gets sus with Rob which bothers Big George. She can be super over bearing and controlling.

Or possibly more sad. George Sr is losing motivation and drive in his life, in due part because of depression and hurt pride, and now he is thinking, "What's the point?" Georgie, on the other hand, will never lose that drive. If he does, he'll regain it after taking charge of the family.

A lot of people make the mistake of thinking that work colleagues are their friends, no they are not, just people that you work with who Will stab you in the back ! When money is involved everything else goes out the window.

woah this is a good scene. i really appreciate everything my father has done for our livelihoods, him taking up jobs that he was way overqualified for. i also appreciate my mother, but in a different way. she carries all the chores.

Well as the church you’re supposed to step in and help people at times like this, be there for them, ask if they need anything, sure Christians believe in Jesus, but just cause someone else doesn’t does not make them any less of a person than we are. In the end we are all just people, I really don’t like self righteous types who act like they are better than everyone else and that others are beneath them or “deserve what they got” or “are gong to hell” so were we before we met Jesus. That kinda attitude isn’t what he called us too, and he didn’t act like that either. In fact it was the “holier than thou” priests that he got very mad at and said lots of choice words too. He told us to “Love your neighbor”.and to “Love one another as I have loved you! It makes me sad when the church gets it so wrong, and it’s especially bad in the American church, but things are looking up for Gen-Z!

First time int the show I'm feeling like Mary is being the better parent. Her potentially cheating is being a bad wife, but George is willingly letting his family starve for pride. He should have focused on doing a better job and not relying on his genius son to get the job.

I get that she's a Christian but that doesn't mean she's a saint. She's selfish, arrogant, unfaithful, unfair, never want to compromise, refuses to listen to anyone who isn't a pastor, and always believing she's right. I get that she's a mother but even her parenting sucks the way she only and always sides with sheldon.

I think that George should have applied for the job at the supermarket. Not only would he have a great new job, but he would be able to have money for his family and awesome food for them too. Sometimes he can be such a lunkhead.

A job at a supermarket isn't just for teenagers, because I seen people who are in their thirties and forties doing it too. In fact, I applied for a job at Kroger and I'm waiting for a response. So I still think that George should have taken a job there to provide for his family.
And fyi, my dad was a security guard for many years and he NEVER once slept on the job. Get that fact straight!😠

The mistake is quitting a job without another job in hand. Once you have the other offer in a situation like this, no need for notice. Take any vacation time you have remaining and start with the new job.

Yes. This was what my dad was, he was top honours and a Suma Cum Laude but refused to get a job he deemed wasnt fit for his honour, now hes just jobless because he refused to lower his ego.

@@DavidLS1 In Texas, teaching is a contract position. If a contract is not renewed, there's no unemployment. However, if he had finished out the school year, he would have been able to collect a salary through the summer. By just quitting in the middle of the year, he not only lost out on income, but it's also possible that he put his certification on the line. But then again, if something like this happened at an actual school, they probably would have had him just coach another sport or even just teach classes.

Fairly sure that is the actress in reba (the show) whom the husband either cheated on Reba with, or at the very least went to her after his marriage with reba fell apart.
I honestly didn't watch reba that much so I am not sure of the exact circumstances but yea still pretty sure it is her.
Now obviously that doesn't mean or guarantee that is who George is cheating with, and these are 2 different shows, but sometimes hollywood does typecast people, especially those who have experience in certain roles.

So he has years of experience teaching and coaching highschool sports. I get that the man has his pride but he really should have worked out the year and used that time, and the summer, to line up the kind of specialized job that he's qualified for and that doesn't advertise in the classified.
I really hope that I find someone like mary, It would be nice to find someone these days who doesn't sit around expecting you to pay all the bills

I love to see this family, so realistic and with real problems; the opposite of what I used to watch when I was a kid in those sissy 80's and 90's family sitcoms.
It's not realistic the dude just quit his job even though he still had it for a little while. 1. It was stupid because he could take the time he was still employed to find a new job. 2. Because he quit he is going to have a much harder time getting onto any kind of government assistance if he needs it. 3. He might have still had some sort of job at the school if he stuck it out.

As a person who’s seen every side of being a coach. This could happen at any coaching job. My mom got fired for having a stroke at a really nice school in our district. My uncle got fired from his college coaching job for having a mild heart attack. It’s how it is the second they think you can’t handle it you get booted.

Man they just destroyed religious communities with this season. Anyone who watches this show and believes it should basically give up on religion entirely (granted it's different now). A community is basically trying to make them homeless for a mistake their son made.

@@as3957 Several synagogues and congregations are actually just communities of good people but they unfortunately retain the nominal attachment to some founding religion. That is the only aspect I would ever object to. If everything you stand for and believe in can be maintained equally well apart from some random scriptural set of written guides then just be a truly secular community and be warm and open to anyone who likes what you stand for regardless of a religious name or book or scrolls.
