Another reason this country struggles with the rest of the world....won't unload after 3, don't unload till 10:00. When is the country going to bloody wake up and stop blaming politicians for their shyte work ethic!!
I used to work at a family diy in Haverhill many years ago mostly out in the yard and if a lorry came in I tried my best to get it unloaded and back out on the road
When you strapped up, I noted that you didn't put on any straps at the ends to stop the steel moving forwards or backwards. Was there a reason? Obviously the steel did not move but I hear horror stories about what can happen when it does.
It's insane how drivers are sent to places without the proper address 🥲 like you wouldn't send a letter without a full address but sure send the truckers in, they'll figure it out 😅
My experience of Liverpool Docks is somewhat different! I went on a charter train which ended up in Seaforth Container terminal, amongst other locations. We had to access the docks by the Bootle branch which in railway terms is known as "bomb alley" because trains are regularly attacked by having objects thrown down on top of them! Indeed, the coach I was in had a shopping trolley dropped onto the roof! We were strongly warned NOT to open any windows!
A few years ago if someone said you were picking up imported steel for delivery to Llanelli i would have said they were insane.south Wales, the home of steel
@curnock Well they would as the people who'd say it had their mind 'stuck in the sand' with quality rose tinted glasses thrown in. It's happened everywhere in the west, blame environmental laws aka green party agenda since the Paris agreement the UK signed.... very BAD IDEA. With Port Talbot on the way out (Chinese owned % shares) from the planned full stop producing raw steel to 'recycling steel' jobs gone I'd say the writing is on the wall... it's all going to go to the wall, forget about having any 1st tier industry in the UK... the government is moving along nicely with it plans. Liverpool got a front row seat to this in the late 1970's into the 1980's & it was 3rd world area for over 20yrs. Port talbot is next.... a job black out zone with Llanelli as like blackpool.
Englishman here, agree. Next, they will be importing tree chippings all the way from Canada, tpting by train from Seaforth, L'pool, to Drax power stn near Goole. It's the Greener option????
@@apennell3575 It was you should be thinking to be correct.... once Port Talbot shuts down it's blast furnaces & Llanelli quietly winds down ..... not a steel town any more thanks to the Chinese.
Awesome video mate love your channel Can I ask how much are lessons in a truck but atm I need to learn how to drive a car first 😂😂 But would love to do this in future thanks
100% steel on steel rule as on ‘sharp’ plate steel like this there always runs the risk of snapping or wearing through the corner boards. Also straps have a tension force and lashing capacity, for example (I know yours are 5t straps) but… a regular 2t standard tension force strap (as if pulled hook to hook) only has about 250kg lashing (how you used them over the steel) capacity so technically you’d need 4 over it to secure 1 ton ( I hope this makes sense) these figures can be found on the little blue tag that should be on the bottom of each of your straps and are measured in DaN I’m not in anyway complaining or moaning just trying to help a fellow driver and save you getting in any gravy with the law enforcement and of course for your own safety 👌 I’d definitely chain in future just my advice for all round better security, less risk of snapping and load sliding ☺️
Funny enough I thought of you the other day and if your lorry would be able to go through that arch bridge as I drive there every week..so you answered my question!
Luke if you’d turned left at r’about at 24:50 you could have gone straight over next r’about 50yrds on and then turned 1st right (100yrd further. It’s called Clarion Close). Nice quiet spot and could have walked back over to a Harry Ramsden’s chip shop plus a Greggs. There’s also an Asda supermarket there plus a pub too. Ask Scott, he’s done some shifts for a firm based just off the road I mean.
Only thing I would say is to put it as close to the head board as possible when flat like that me and my dad went to a recovery years ago when the plate slipped and went straight through the cab as it had room to move love the videos tho 👍👍
I used to be a Taxi 🚕 Driver in Braintree Essex Luke and I worked 6days a week but also Friday and Saturday nights and I used to get very tired sometimes
@@lukecinahgv was only asking as I said never done steel. Can see the ease of it. And the problems with shackles. Great videos. So can’t wait to get back to driving.
You’re looking very well Luke mate you have lost weight buddy ❤ keep it up 👍 you’re actually inspiring me to do it aswell I’ve just started walking so thanks matey 🤝
Sorry I hope the question was to any driver. I am in South Africa and we do not cross chain(sins we use chains and not straps)But we "strap" the load very tight like till the steel bends inwards. Straps are not really practical sins we use steel on steel but Luke did a great job securing the load with what he had. What I respect most. Always takes the exstra mile
What happens if you do run over your driving hours ?. Do you get a fine or points on your license. Just curious. Thanks for a great watch , its always interesting.
Small criticism here, Luke, The Birkenhead Tunnel you drove through is actually The Wallasey Tunnel. Apart from that great video, the new Everton Stadium is still under construction at Bramley Moore Dock and looks great. Thanks for showing it off to the world.
Spot on the Birkenhead one is the kingsway tunnel (oldest one) and the Wallasey one is the (Queensway) newest one out the two and quickest but I know you already knew that as I can tell your local like myself 🙌
@mott2945 I know this was from 2 weeks ago, but you got the names mixed up there, mate, birkenhead tunnel is queensway tunnel, easiest way to know is kingsway (wallasey) is a separate tunnel in each direction, queensway is one tunnel for both directions

Hi luke. Been watching your vids for a long time now. But never posted. So I recently past my c+e through a bootcamp upgrade. Do you have any tips on getting work for new passes??
@@lukecinahgv short answer yes, but I was only flatbed for the first year and a half and the company was super strict. I was always told “steel on steel”. Yeah, the reason I asked, why would why would you use chains instead of straps was because I was hoping you was going to say something along the lines of chains wouldn’t snap and straps might. 😂 I was going to reply back saying that that’s why I used corner boards. 😂 Appreciate the viewership though ! I get that Luke . Think it’s better to split your breaks though . I split mine because I generally max hours over four days 3x15 1 1x13 Guess a lot depends on how your paid if it’s salary then my feeling is it encourages one to get on regardless you get the same money , but if your hourly paid it’s different . Chains on steel Luke
Every time 👍
I'm also not sure he realises the straps don't give full lashing capacity when they're not at 90°
FYI if you go dyfed steels again ring night before they sometimes let you park on site for the night 🤙
Well done Iwona 👏 great looking forward to seeing you soon 😊
Did I miss something? I didn't see a problem with your parking place. Another interesting vlog thanks Luke.
Chains surely!🤔
Think to yourself. Why chains? Surly the answer is so that the straps don’t snap?
That’s where the corner boards come in 👍🏻
Every place is different at our work if your moving steel you have too use chains but like I say different places different rules
That was the Wallasey tunnel, the Birkenhead tunnel is different
