@KyloDelasare yeah, when I was in, many years ago, it was just those 3 events, and testing a whole company at the same time would sometimes get complicated. I can't even imagine what it's like now.
Someone who actually knows about physical fitness needs to get into the armies higher command... Why do we need to do a 2 mile jog if we have an agility drill already... And why do we need a core strength workout when we have deadlifts already?.... ?????
Can we just do stuff that the average person can do at a gym? Push ups, sit ups (or plank). With a barbell deadlift and a run. No need to be this complicated.
@JanieBee The APFT worked for decades. Pushups, situps, 2 mile run. And the standards were actually pretty high compared to what most civilians would be capable of. Hell, I don't know many people outside of the Army that aren't in sports that can run a 12:45 or less two mile.

Just reading today. Gender neutral. I have done a lot of things as the "only female" that are required of the guys. I surpassed a lot of the guys and found myself in the lower upper portion. On the job, I was hired as the only female in the 20 year history of the company in a department due to the "physical strength" required. And, I am a lady (tom-boyish, but a lady). What I am getting at is... I am not sure "gender neutral" is the right answer as there are stronger females than males and vice versa. I am 5'5" and 130 when in top shape (not in shape at the moment, but working on it). Size does not have anything to do with it either. Muscle conditioning, strength, determination, competitiveness, drive... not specifically in that order.
