Such a beautiful performances! I am usually opposed to this piece being played by organ, but the way the strings were conscious that they could sometimes take over the light sound of the organ and backing off (especially on the solos) makes this one of the best recordings I've heard of it! Perhaps second best!
Any particular reason for your opposite to a solo by organ in this Baroque concerto?

Wow.I bet this was played with a single violin playing both parts .How big were orch i the 1720's? Bach believed in making his music for every instrument that may have been European baroque practice. They were liberal about such matters .Why not music is music though diff instruments capabilities and strengths vary :good to hear this on organ !
I wouldn't bet on that.
In the twenty-first century, Bach scholarship has moved away from any consensus regarding a violin original.
In 2016, for example, two leading Bach scholars, Christoph Wolff and Gregory Butler, published independently conducted research that led each to conclude that the original form of BWV 1052 was an organ concerto composed within the first few years of Bach's tenure in Leipzig. Both relate the work to performances by Bach of concerted movements for organ and orchestra in Dresden and Leipzig.
Wolff also details why the violinistic figuration in the keyboard part does NOT demonstrate that it is a transcription from a previous violin part; for one thing, the "extended and extreme passagework" in the solo part "cannot be found in any of Bach's violin concertos"; for another, he points to other relevant Bach keyboard works that "display direct translations of characteristic violin figuration into idiomatic passagework for the keyboard."
Peter Wollny also disagrees with the hypothesis that the works might have originally been a violin concerto.
According to Bach Digital, "It is unlikely that the concerto represents the arrangement of a violin concerto."

Впервые я открыла для себя этот концерт в исполнении Полины Осетинской.Была под таким сильным впечатлением что после 100 того прослушивания купила ноты на Амазоне и начала сама разучивать потихоньку.
Слушала в исполнении других замечательных пианистов и оркестров,но думаю что органное исполнение одно из самых глубоких.
Изумительный шедевр бессмертного Баха.
Хочется сказать что тот кто играет или слушает или хотя бы понимает эту музыку,никогда не поднимет руку на человека,но к сожалению пример с немецко фашисткой Германией развеивает всякие иллюзии...

Pero qué revoltura es esto? Un sonido sinfónico mezclado con un órgano barroco, para interpretar literatura de Bach. En pleno siglo XXI esto es de una desprolijidad espeluznante.
Не симфонический оркестр, а камерный. Вполне в духе Баха, он несколько версий написал для исполнения этого концерта. И потому, вполне возможно, что он имел в виду и исполнение соло органа. Прекрасно сочетается с оркестром, лучше рояля.
А что же еще подходит для 21-го века , интересно?? 😊
В эпоху барокко, какой инструмент был доступен на том и играли, поэтому Баха играют и на фортепиано, и на скрипке, и на духовом. Имею ввиду одно и то же произведение.
А орган любимый Инструмент Баха. Звучит очень хорошо с камерным оркестром
Bach composed the harpsichord concerto BWV 1052 in 1730s for performance in the Leipzig Collegium Musicum concerts when he was the ensemble's director. But the source of BWV 1052 was concerto for organ and strings performed in Dresden and Leipzig in the early years of Bach's tenure in Leipzig.
Listen to cantata BWV 146, composed in 1726-1727, about 10 years BEFORE the BWV 1052 harpsichord concerto was composed. The cantata's 1st movement is the same as BWV 1052's 1st movement, but scored for organ, strings, and oboes. The cantata's 2nd movement is the same as BWV 1052's 2nd movement, but scored for organ and strings and an added 4-part chorus.
