This movie is based on a real incident of conflict between invading Indian forces and indigenous Tagin people who saw the intruding Indian forces occupying their land and imposing the "Indian nation-state identity".
Several series of such incidents happened after invasion of Tawang by Indian forces in the early 50s(simultaneously similar situation was also taking place on the Chinese side, Chinese forces occupying indigenous peoples' territories). One of the last regions to be added to NEFA region of Republic of India was what is now known as Vijoynagar. Vijoynagar was the abode of Lisu or Yobin ethnic group before the territory was discovered by Indian forces and merged to the Republic of India in the early 60s.
The ethnic groups of these regions were very small in number and didn't have any modern weaponry to defend their territories from Indian or Chinese aggression, so they had no choice but to submit themselves to either India or China.
Same happened with those on the Chinese side, they had no choice but to submit themselves to the Chinese authorities.
While during the same period, the Nagas fought Indian occupation with the left over weapons of WWII.
This comment is nothing against India. I love my country India and its citizens. I'm just sharing a historical fact about the building of India as a nation-state and its relation to the indigenous people of Northeastern region.

In 1963, 12 men were brutally murdered by a horde of villagers in Chayang Tajo. Years later, the facts around the incident remain hazy. Dodum Yangfo goes back in time and investigates the details of the case, revealing, for the first time, that the genesis of the incident has perhaps more to it than meets the eye.
The killings
The phrase ‘Khe-Khe’ in the Nyishi dialect, especially as used in East Kameng district, has several connotations; loosely translated, it means ‘OK’ in English. On the afternoon of 31 May 1963, ‘Khe-Khe’ took on a sinister meaning - a deadly call to action - in Chayang Tajo and nearby Kilo village, as a massacre ensued as soon as the words were heard.
Fifty-four years after it occurred, the brutal killing of 12 men, nine of them central reserve police personnel, by the villagers of Tajo still sends a chill up one’s spine whenever the incident is narrated by old-timers.
Chayang Tajo, then a small administrative outpost, witnessed a guerilla-style bloodbath on that afternoon. Nine perished, including four civilians: Base Superintendent PG Roy, language interpreter Pada Wahge, ALC Kharananda Jaisi, and peon Hira Bahadur Sonar, and five CRP personnel: Lance Naik Roshan Lal, and sepoys Tara Singh, Joginder Singh, Jog Raj, and Baldev Raj Sharma.
The killings did not end there. The villagers with the help of some youths of nearby Kilo village killed three more CRP personnel at Pawik stream when the personnel were on their way to Chayang Tajo from Khenewa. The bodies of the three - Dhan Singh, Kali Ram, and Krishnan - were never found. The killers seized their arms and ammunition.
After yearlong legal proceedings, the Additional Political Officer and Session Judge, Kameng Frontier Division, on 12 March 1964, sentenced to death four of the accused - Sulung Tajo, Hachang Tajo, Rada Tajo, and Tawa Tajo - while seven others were sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment. Two of them - Mara Tajo and Tayeng Tajo - are alive to this day, after serving 14 years in the central jail in Tezpur (Assam).

Our tani clan had so many great warriors who have been forgotten and lost in time.i wish more movies are made that tell the history of our beautiful people.i wish more people that know the history of our people would come out and educate our young generation on the ways of our ancestors because honestly most of us have forgotten our past.i know matmur jamoh was one of the great warrior in the adi tribe that killed a british officer with the help of few others and was captured,according to some he was taken to kalapani but no one really knows.i am sure that every tribe have such great heroes but are unknown to other tribes which is why i think we should share these stories which is an important part of our history as a clan.

This is d real ARUNACHAL MOVIE .I won't watch those ARUNACHAL Hindi movie which they can't even speak properly n it don't even suit them . After watching this trailer I m very proud to b Arunachali own language with subtile this is originality of our state .I LL sure watch n recommend my other state frnd to watch .

Is this movie base on tagin war 1953 my grand father was there tagin war my grandfather use to say one officer of assam rifle which was sikh was killed by tagin many more killed by tagin warrior but my grand father escape from that attack aftwr 7 day by foot bank of river reach bhalepung I don't know is this movie base on that war
