I've had my Nova 300 for 2 1/2 years now, paired up to a pair of Tekton DI monitors and I am still in love with the sound, the muscle and the versatility of this amp. Not sure if my neighbors love it as much as I do (LoL). Doesn't matter if your listening to Sarah McLaughlin or AC/DC this amp is very smooth and musical while deliver a fat, tight bottom like nothing I've ever owned. All off an I-pad with a remote. Music is fun again !
Word to describe class D is, CLEAR! They punch, have definition and stay consistent across the bands plain and simple! You can invest in many speakers that will get you body and warmth with class D. I love both. Bedroom with Pioneer Elite and JBL studios, living room with Prima Luna and Acoustic Zen. Just my opinion, but I love them both the same just different reasons. Common denominator? Music, ya just can’t go wrong with music! Peach tree! Great stuff!
Just brilliant... your reviews just get better and better... I come here and I get to see stuff a little off the beaten track and ok some of the stuff is a little pricey for me I can drool over it just like I did as a kid outside a high street shop in the 80’s only those shops sadly don’t exist anymore. Thank you.
Nice review! I found it really useful. I bought peachtree decco125 few days ago for my desktop stereo and it's fantastic! And possibility to connect headphones is really useful too! Just as you said about "neutrality" and dynamic - it's all true!
A few years ago I bought a Nova 150 largely on looks and features. It seemed like it had it all for a very reasonable price. I was selling it within 6 months after deciding I couldn't live with the dry, 2D sound and cheap feeling build quality. The buttons just felt cheap...there is something to be said for getting the tactile part of the equation correct. I ran straight to tube amplification and never looked back. I understand Class D is improving but I don't think I will be wading back into Peachtree waters anytime soon. I love the sound I'm immersed in now.
That’s your opinion but u probably didn’t have the correct setup and speakers I run the 300 on my magnepan 2.7 and they sound amazing ! It sounds like u need to but your speakers on “letgo “
This is a great review, really informative and something I’m going to look into . A built in streamer would be the icing on the cake, but thanks for explaining alternative ways of achieving the result. I’ve tentatively looked at the Naim Uniti Nova so far 👍
I stupidly bought an amp purely for it's looks. The Yamaha AS 2100 looks like something made 40 years ago. I knew it would sound light years ahead of any amp I've ever bought, so sound quality wasn't really an issue. For me, having to live with it, it had to look good as well. Which is of course, purely subjective. So yeah, it was stupid to spend £2k on an amp that looks retro but it brings pleasure every time i look at it. Bonus, it sounds, to me, amazing :)
I'm pretty sure this unit sounds better than the a s 2100 from Yamaha I have the as801 and there's not a massive difference between those two models I was looking at upgrading because this Peachtree nova300 has a great DAC built inside and 300 watts per Channel you can't go wrong I'm pretty sure it will sound way better than my as801 integrated Yamaha amplifier what's your thoughts on that?
Great Review! I’m so looking forward to the part 2 of the review! John Darko is one of my favorite reviewer! I also listen to your podcast! Great work! Mad respect !
My wife's first comment on seeing this in the living room was, "Is that your new amplifier? It's beautiful!" She was very pleased. I also think it looks great sitting next to my Pioneer PLX-1000 turntable but am especially pleased with the sound driving a pair of Zu Dirty Weekend speakers. My only complaint is that I'm not a fan of the sound of Roon through the DyNEC input via iPad vs. via a Chromecast audio via toslink. I have no idea how this could be possible but I've A/B'd extensively and the sound via DyNEC is much thinner tonally and more restricted both up and down and right/left in sound stage.
I have the Piano Black Peachtree NOVA 300 and it's BEAUTIFUL to look at ! It matches my Martin Logan Piano Black Motion 40 Tower Speakers and subs perfectly !
Thank you for the explanation on streaming with the three inputs. It really explained it quite simple. I have vintage gear but this may be my next purchase.
Yes saw the Copeland, Vincent and Gryphon range of equipment and just said yes if it looks right then it must be right and having heard the equipment i was not disapointed, how ever its not the way to buy or evaluate equipment.
I just added the Blackice Foz SS-X tube sound expander to the Peachtree 300 loop option. WOW what a difference!!! Now my curiosity is now wondering if I add (better?) an external DAC... would it make a difference? The journey continues lol
I like these too. Nearly bought the one that fitted the Sonos Control inside it. Went for Cyrus 8 DAC as it sounded better. Might consider this when the Linn Classik in my library blows.
I have been dying for a Peachtree review! I Purchased the Nova220SE (used) six months ago and have loved every second of it! I’ve paired it with The SVS Primes bookshelf, Monitor Audio bronze bookshelf and currently UB5s. And I’m absolutely loving the match with the UB5s best... stereo subwoofer is next? Also I almost forgot to ask, do you feel that you’re losing anything using the coax input??
John, thanks for bringing in fresh positive thought process in reviews, with a balanced approach. Theres something for everyone in the market and with the technological offerings available. Nova fits well into a room/apartment which needs focus on music, than anything else. With abundant features. Thanks again
Thank you for that when I ask how to connect my Android PHYSICALLY to said source, I usually get a look akin to someone whose "got two coconuts and they're banging them together! " It's my horse, of course, but those Frenchmen, they are the RF waves getting in my way lol
This amplifier presents a dilemma. You see, I have too many amplifiers and receivers. I even have an old Sanusi 2000 in original box languishing in the basement. I've seen and heard the Peachtree integrated amplifier several years ago. It was, I believe about 150 watts per channel. I heard it through large Thiel bookshelf speakers. It sounded good, but I thought it looked better than it sounds. I imagine they've made several improvements since I last heard it. It's those curves, beautiful finish that gets to me. I always love a pretty face. Darn those Peachtree people, they make me want another amp.
Peachtree Nova :) I wanted to buy it but finally I ended with Hegel + my old ifi micro iDSD. Not all in one, no shiny, wooden box, but sounds fantastic :)
Hi John, thanks for a great channel. There has been some negative feedback in relation to the sound of the digital coax and optical inputs as opposed to the Asynchronous iOS input for direct digital input from Apple devices. Did you notice any such difference during your review?
What is the audio streamer you have plugged into the NOVA 300 I think you said alow but I'm not sure. I tried searching for it on line but I cant find. I have the Peachtree NOVA 300 BLACK running Martin Logan Motion 40's tower speakers and TWO Martin Logan Dynamo 1000 Subs and it sounds stunning. I have HD Audio files I buy from HD Tracks online. I buy them in the highest bitrate .AIFF I can find 24/192 or higher if I can. I use the USB dack that Peachtree built into the unit. I will be buying the PEACHTREE NOVA 500 here soon !
Hello, I own the current Nova300. I just purchased a Bluesound Node(2021). I won’t be doing MQA, so with that in mind should I use the dac in the Nova300 via coaxial cable or use the dac from the Node via rca output? Boiled down, which dac do you believe is better? Thank you
Hi John, I'm living in Berlin as well and wonder how you got hold of the Peachtree Nova 300 as there is no distributor in Germany. There are dealers in Poland, the UK and other EU countries but it would be quite a hassle to take the amp there if something brakes. I am wondering... What kind of amp would you compare the sound quality of the Peachtree nova with? The Cambridge Audio Edge A amp? Why am I asking? I'm looking for an alternative... A producer who has distributers based in Germany. Your advice is greatly appreciate it. Thanks and keep up the good work.
I plugged in the ipad to the USB-A and play music through Tidal Master recording, and they show "MASTER" on the bottom. Does it mean I am listening to the MQA quality? But I don't have any MQA decoder though. What's your though John?
This really reminds me of the Quad Vena II (when it's got its neat jacket on!). I'd really love to hear about the DTS Play-fi on the new Vena II Play amp/streamer whether you think it's a serious contender, could you do a shootout between that and the Decco 125 Sky?
I had the 125 Sky that's a great little unit...Never once did that thing drop the signal while streaming in wifi...Never heard the Quad so I can't comment on that one..
Which speakers pair best with Peachtree amps? I have the Nova 150. First class D amp I've tried. Doesn't seem to be a good pair for my Vintage Klipsch Kg2's w/ rear passive radiators. My Vintage Denon DRA-25 integrated pairs much better than the Nova 150. But it's 30 old and now I'm faced with finding a better paired amp for the Kg2's or different speakers that pair better with the Nova 150. Please help!
Great video and review, as per. What do you think of the Nova's new grill. Do you like the look? Was there a mechanical/functional reason for the change you are aware of?
You made me hungry as aim looking for a new integrated amp.Still have my old Dual Mono NAD S300 ,19 years old no problems and the remote is still working. However with streaming , Roon etc. one has to move on.
Liked the video John. Considering integrated for more simpler approach. Love to get your thoughts on the PeachTree paired with Klipsch or JBL. I like high efficient speakers and I know I don't need lots of power to drive them, and tubes (amp and/or preamp) is the way to go, but I am thinking of the PeachTree Nova 300 because it will give me some freedom if I should decide to get other speakers with less efficiency in the future.
I had the Peachtree Nova 300 paired with my Heresy IV’s and was never happy… it just simply sounded bad. I traded the Nova for used Naim Supernait 1 and was blown away by the difference. In my own experience, the Nova 300 is trash.
I have had one for a while it's a great package. I found it a little hard to listen to at high volumes were the upper edges got harsh with my older Thiels cs2.2. Fantastic for a 2nd system, wont sell mine in case I need a stand unit. Thank you for your reviews. Always a thumbs up.
I have a Yamaha as801 integrated amplifier and I'm thinking about upgrading because I want a better sounding DAC I just want a better sounding more powerful amp I think this is the next step up and uses a fantastic DAC for my research I can see this one is probably better and this is still better than the a s 2100 from Yamaha
I repurposed my Yamaha 2100 (running a couple of Monitor Audio Silvers and subs) to a secondary room in favor of running my Peachtree Nova 300 as my main amp. It's that good.
I know that Peachtree is a beast I want it and never heard it lol yeah I really do I'd be in hog heaven class D who cares it's not a normal class D for sure I am an audiophile who likes to find hidden gems to my ear thanks for the review you never disappoint
I bought this based on yours and someone else's written review. For the price, I've been extremely disappointed. I have a pair of Tekton Double Impacts and it sounds pretty flat and uninspiring. I sold my old inova and Zu Omen dirty weekends and really regret that. It may tick all the spec boxes but my iNova and it's class A/B amp sounded much more dynamic. All i can say is try before you buy.
You've discovered the pitfall of most class D amplifiers: low-level noise and distortion that you won't hear over less efficient speakers. Tekton, Zu, and Klipsch demand the cleanest "first watt" possible. Class A and class AB amplifiers will usually be cleaner at low levels.
Hey john or anyone for that matter whos owned or tried a peachtree audio integrated. Im wanting to get a peachtree integrated for my krell kav 2250 power amp. Im wanting to used peachtree as a dac and digital preamp. Has anyone have any thoughts on that? One for sell is a older model idecco. I wont be using it for its crappy amp but its nice to have just in case. Being a swiss army knife. So ppl say it has a good class a preamp.. With tubes. Would be better off with peachtree for the dac\preamp capabilities. Or should i look for a older krell showcase or hts processor/preamp..m HELP?? I want it to stay cheaper... 400 or under..on used market
Still have my Peachtree Nova 125se after auditioning many others now. Paired with ELAC Uni fi UB5’s Sound is so muscular, but sweet and also clear and warm, aaaand huge😂 Its going to stack up against audia flight three s tomorrow. Wondering if that will surpase it or that my love for Peachtree is just to strong...
yeah I know exactly what your saying about an all in one receiver yeah some call them integrated if no fm radio lol vs separates well I paid 799.00 for an all in 1 pioneer elite sx-n30 hi-res 2 channel receiver and for 800 bucks it blew my Yamaha as801 out of the water ! Lol not even a contest the class A/B at 85watts ohms very low thd hell of built in d.a.c 2 full preouts 2 sub preouts BT wifi 4 dig in 5 analog internet cinnection thumbin drive mass storage all gold connections (very heavy) detacable power cord head phone amp beast i ever heard very powerful best 800 bucks I ever had not super high end money but the sound is amazing ! about to drop the review of the emotivia a300 connected to it makes biamping easy 85 watts class A/B integrated power quality to the mids-highs and emotiva 150 watts class A/B to the bottom wow 235watts to each Box rocking out !! most the time I don't run the powered subs no need to I think it sounds to thick
Have ALWAYS loved this amp and now finally had the money (no boyfriend to pay for Harley parts and was able to save up for it) now I have it and am just sitting here looking at it, what do I pair with it. I won't go into the truly wonderful things I USED to own before poor boyfriend's and equally poor Harley's (1980's-🤮) I was thinking some goldenear satellites with a pair or Triton's . I now know the importance of setting aside a listening room plus I have an rather large movie screenprints collection framed at least 30 of them and that makes for bad wit the bass or any subwoofer really. And since I have a 5 bedroom house and some $15K already sunk into my car' audio it's time to do some adulting and since Mr. Darko is out of arms reach I'm very sure I'd like some advice on what direction to look I know you love getting tall orders on personal advice as such as which boxed rose to pair with which box of Friday's amuse bouche in the frozen aisle before the store closes at the crack of 3pm. What a time to. Be alive!! Or run for the cover of your stereo and wait it out till the storm passes. But with which speakers? Hmmm, anyone care to chime in? Maybe current owners or former? It's me over in the maxed credit aisle, oh we're all here already you say?! But with good reason
The volume control on this amp seems to be its weak spot. Strange that they made such a fantastic amp, but gave it such a questionable user interface. Volume control is probably the only thing people use on a regular basis after everything is setup. I was interested in buying, but will not sacrifice on such a basic requirement.
Update: I did end up buying this amp afterall (got a sweet deal on a used one). The volume knob is a bit unconventional, and ultimately did not end up being a deal breaker. The amp itself is phenomenal. This is probably a holy-grail type amp at this price point. I don't find myself curious about what else is out there anymore and focus more of my time listening to my music :)
Using the volume control on the amp isn't too bad, then you get to the remote control!!! what a let down cheap nasty thing, buttons are not great and volume control is awful it just looks and feels nasty and cheap really lets the amp down what were they thinking of, now I'm looking for a quality learning remote as a replacement.
Normally blown away by the video but dislike the blurring, focus, out of focus stuff. Makes no sense and is uncomfortable viewing. Here is hoping it is just a fad ;)
@@DarkoAudio How strange, maybe it was my desire to see the inputs and outputs all at the same time that made me notice it more? Your audio videos are still the best out there on RUclips or anywhere else for that matter. It was a momentary picky thing :O
As a photographer first and audio lover (and Peachtree nova300 owner) second, I could not disagree more. I VERY much appreciate the quality and care taken to film and edit these videos. Anyone can make a video with their phone and have everything in focus 100%. Shooting with such shallow depth of field plus doing all the editing is on a whole different level and adds, for my personal taste (pun intended), incredible value to the content. In my newfound obsession with everything hifi and practically OD’-ing on gear reviews, I subscribe to a bunch of channels with great content but this one stands out from the rest for it’s “production value” and beautiful cinematography and color grading. The analogy to food is spot on in my opinion and applies to this channel as it does to audio gear: it’s not only about taste, but also about the decor, service and presentation. In Germany, we say “Das Auge isst mit”; which was without a doubt a big contributing factor to buy the Peachtree.
To all who still live in the last century and use the imperial system I ask (and do the calculations in your head) What is 1/10 of a 1 yard, 1 foot 9 and 3/4? (Not counting 8ths and 16ths) Answer: Get me my calculator. .......if you can find one that will do this. For us metric practicioners. What is 1/10 of 1m, 10cm, 10mm Answer: 11.1 cm. Simple. No calculator required. Literally child's play and everyone can understand that it's based upon the number 10. I find it perplexing how many people don't know their 176 times table (1760 yards in a mile) , yet want to keep miles as a road measurement........
I've had my Nova 300 for 2 1/2 years now, paired up to a pair of Tekton DI monitors and I am still in love with the sound, the muscle and the versatility of this amp. For me the Sony ta1010 is the best looking amp I've blown up.
I absolutely love the you bring aesthetics up! Lots of hifi brands don't seem to care about it
Nice review, I have a peachtree musicbox, like 8 years now and still sounds great.

Agreed. It's great when readers *add* to the conversation.
Efdemin - New Atlantis!!! Wasn't expecting that :)

#JohnDarko, are you planning to review the Nova500 sometime in the near future?

Compelling product. Rare to see a single box solution that covers the basics well and has an insane amount of clean output power.

John, thanks for bringing in fresh positive thought process in reviews, with a balanced approach. Theres something for everyone in the market and with the technological offerings available. Most Android phones will plug into the USB B connector with a OTG USB cable, my phone connects to my DAC at up to 192khz

I am going to order one today for sure. Gotta hear how well it pairs my wharfedale evo 4.4

Peachtree Nova :) I wanted to buy it but finally I ended with Hegel + my old ifi micro iDSD. Not all in one, no shiny, wooden box, but sounds fantastic :)
Hegel is much better!
My 2012 relic, iNova amp section gave up the ghost. Still working well as a dac pre-amp
Your amp may only have a bad CAP. I would take it to a tech and have it repaired.
Where’s part 2?
Can't believe we're saying things like way back in 2010
Great review! Nothing wrong with class D. I found the best
1) notice new Darko video
2) asks wife to hide wallet

How do you buy bloodhound if you can't find your wallet? 🤔

What do you think of buying extra DAC like Schiit Gungnir to upgrade Nova based system?
Hi.. is there any bass, treble, tone… anywhere? Thanks.
No but it has a loop connector you can use a equalizer.
Is this ice power of the 300 far superior to the 150? I have a good offer available to me on the 150! Do tell!
I wonder how it compares to a Gato DIA-250S. This peachtree has more options but buy I like the looks of the Gato.

Great video and review, as per. What do you think of the Nova's new grill. Do you like the look? Was there a mechanical/functional reason for the change you are aware of?
I'm not across the reasons that precipitated that design change.
Peachtree said that the 500 needed better ventilation and they use the same shells for all models.
Love your ts

I like high efficient speakers and I know I don't need lots of power to drive them, and tubes (amp and/or preamp) is the way to go, but I am thinking of the PeachTree Nova 300 because it will give me some freedom if I should decide to get other speakers with less efficiency in the future.
I had the Peachtree Nova 300 paired with my Heresy IV’s and was never happy… it just simply sounded bad. I traded the Nova for used Naim Supernait 1 and was blown away by the difference. In my own experience, the Nova 300 is trash.
Nice, but why it can't interface with android devices trough USB? it makes no sense...
Can you review Nova500? I have the Nova500 but for some reason, I like the Nova300 better? Is it just me?
I have a Yamaha as801 integrated amplifier and I'm thinking about upgrading because I want a better sounding DAC I just want a better sounding more powerful amp I think this is the next step up and uses a fantastic DAC for my research I can see this one is probably better and this is still better than the a s 2100 from Yamaha
I repurposed my Yamaha 2100 (running a couple of Monitor Audio Silvers and subs) to a secondary room in favor of running my Peachtree Nova 300 as my main amp. It's that good.
Did he say can or cant be out done by the schitt mani? The onboard phono is preferred to mani?
Can't.
I know that Peachtree is a beast I want it and never heard it lol yeah I really do I'd be in hog heaven class D who cares it's not a normal class D for sure I am an audiophile who likes to find hidden gems to my ear thanks for the review you never disappoint
How well would the Nova 300 drive the Magnapan LRS speakers?
More than enough power. :)
@@DarkoAudio What would your reccomendation be between the Peachtree Audio nova300 and the nova150 to drive the LRS speakers?
I'm using on pair of Klipschorn AK6 and the impact is amazing.
The only high end thing is the price so many people could get feed
i thought about getting this back then but ended up buying the nuprime da-8
Paired with ELAC Uni fi UB5’s
Sound is so muscular, but sweet and also clear and warm, aaaand huge😂
Its going to stack up against audia flight three s tomorrow.
Wondering if that will surpase it or that my love for Peachtree is just to strong...
Cool
That’s prettier than my girlfriend...
But this amp exist
John Darko do you seriously believe that Class A/B is better that Class D when you are buying a $2000 amp?
I don't go in for class generalisations. Everything depends on the implementation.
as a buyer that was thinking about peachtree...this did nothing for me except to think it wasnt very good becuse reviewer said it was class d.
**Facepalm**
yeah I know exactly what your saying about an all in one receiver yeah some call them integrated if no fm radio lol vs separates well I paid 799.00 for an all in 1 pioneer elite sx-n30 hi-res 2 channel receiver and for 800 bucks it blew my Yamaha as801 out of the water !
What was the Streamer?
Maybe a 300 watt amp is built for less efficient speakers. Problem solved.
1:38 you lost me at "It is Obviously not a super high-end DAC bug it is AudioQuest Dragon Fly level"
*but :)
Ditched the tube.
I had the Peachtree Grand Integrated X1 and I only used the tube for atrocious radio streams.
Those glasses look like windshields
I was thinking the same thing just didn't like to say it they are massive looks like joe 90
Aphex Twin
While I appreciate your commentary I wish you would demo with some music samples!
Normally blown away by the video but dislike the blurring, focus, out of focus stuff. Makes no sense and is uncomfortable viewing. Here is hoping it is just a fad ;)
There you go presentation of the food ;) the presentation of the food was not to my personal liking but I liked the meal ;)
We haven't deviated from our usual style for this video. It's only a fad if ALL our previous videos are considered part of the same fad.
Europeans and their damn metric system. It's called a QUARTER INCH HEADPHONE JACK. 6.4mm my backside.
Here, the 21st Century awaits every North American.
NewYorkBlack I prefer the metric system!
NewYorkBlack ha ,The United States is one of two countries in the world that don’t use the metric system.
To all who still live in the last century and use the imperial system I ask (and do the calculations in your head)
What is 1/10 of a 1 yard, 1 foot 9 and 3/4? (Not counting 8ths and 16ths)
Answer: Get me my calculator. .......if you can find one that will do this.
For us metric practicioners.
What is 1/10 of 1m, 10cm, 10mm
Answer: 11.1 cm.
Simple. No calculator required. Literally child's play and everyone can understand that it's based upon the number 10.
I find it perplexing how many people don't know their 176 times table (1760 yards in a mile) , yet want to keep miles as a road measurement........
I agree with you John Darko but I can’t resist saying Eurotrash. American exceptionalism rears its ugly head. I really like your videos!
