when the pacific electric railway was operating in los angles ( a heavy rail system of the latter era . last train was 1960.) freight (goods )trains were only permitted to run at nite .any where in the los angles area.

Awesome Video! It was interesting watching the cars come in and be off loaded. I like how freight trains can use the tracks of the Waterloo light rail system. Very few light rail systems and freight trains share tracks.

MobileRailSpotterRxR They use temporal (time) separation. Once everything's up and running, frieght operations will only be permitted during a short overnight window when the LRT isn't running. Even now it's a nightly window, but a little more generous than it's ultimately going to be.

Kevin Tessner Cool! That's how the San Diego Trolley light rail system works with freight trains using their tracks also on the line that goes through Chula Vista CA. They run on the light rail tracks on a late night window also. I mean it's the only way freight trains could run that share tracks with the light rail. I think it's cool when they share tracks but it also shows why freight and light rail tracks should be seperate but if their isn't enough room they have to share tracks.

Local forums like www.waterlooregionconnected.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=25 and the Facebook Group "I Support Light Rail Transit in the Region of Waterloo". When they show up in the local yard someone will usually spot them and post about it, then us fans stake out the track to Waterloo as that train only runs Monday to Thursday in the late evening. Sometimes we stake it out and they don't move that night. :-(

Trains4Fun The ION thread in Waterloo Region Connected's forums (www.waterlooregionconnected.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=25) has the latest rumours and spotter reports, but there's no officially published schedules that I'm aware of.
