There’s a couple of ASMR triggers that seem to pop up in every video on every channel out there (including mine, of course ;))…and then there’s triggers that are quite rare and underrated. So, here’s a little battle of overrated and underrated ASMR triggers. Enjoy! :) What are some underrated triggers you can think of? Let me know in the comments!
Like I said, it’s all in good fun, no shade on anyone using or liking the “overrated“ triggers, I love them myself. ✌

As a rare and specific trigger: It's a bit difficult to explain, but I love when people squeeze and wrinkle a piece of paper or a plastic bag (like the ones chips or cookies come in) and then try to straighten them up again, trying to make them as flat as they can. I had a classmate who always did that after having a snack and it was so tingly for me!! But I've never seen it on a video

I think the reason this trigger is so good is because you don’t have control over when and how the headphones will touch and how they will touch so each and every tap, scrape and drop are literally unpredictable.

my favorite underrated trigger: “accidental” triggers, as in something that produces sound that the asmrtist doesn’t call attention to or mention. i typically assume these are intentional, but i suppose they could legitimately be accidental. i mean things like clothing that makes subtle noises, a couple unassuming rings that clank together, an object that produces white/continuous noise, naturally occurring gripping/rubbing sounds, etc. yk what i mean? i think it’s so relaxing and tingly when noises occur “accidentally” or “naturally” in asmr videos, even if it’s just an illusion.

Some underrated sounds are beads and jewelry sounds, in all contexts. Like, just wearing big rings that click on things. Bracelets (besides metal bangles) that click on things. Sorting beads. Beaded bracelets sliding across a table surface. A pendant sliding up and down a chain like some people do when theyre bored. Being close enough to someone to hear their jewelry clink around in intimate and comforting.
