"It gladdens me to know that Odin prepares for a feast. Soon I shall be drinking ale from curved horns. This hero that comes into Valhalla does not lament his death. I shall not enter Odin’s hall with fear. There I shall wait for my sons to join me. And when they do, I will bask in their tales of triumph. The Aesir will welcome me. My death comes without apology. And I welcome the Valkyries to summon me home.”
That's a legit quote from Ragnar Lothbrok before he died in real life. The only part left out is "oh how the little piggies will grunt when they hear how the old boar was treated" and fuck if he wasn't right
@@moonglorias5 that quote was originally misinterpreted to mean "my sons will save me", of course we know now that he was warning of the coming retribution at the hands of his sons xD
Shield maidens were a real thing my brothers. Norse society were one of the few ancient societies that allowed women to participate in anything aside from giving birth and cooking meals. Numerous mentions of high preiestes, shield maidens, and female jarl's or regional leaders.
So real history, the only other society that trained their women for combat were the samurai. A samurai wife or daughter was expected to defend the home as viciously as their husband/father. Norse women carries their weight, and then some.
@Berserking Bishop there's a whole bunch of women warriors in the nordic text along with several goddesses that were bad ass. People wouldn't be worshipping bad ass goddesses if women didn't at least exert some resemblance of merits.
Um viking women had much more rights then women if their time. They were in charge of the home when the men went Viking. They were also trained to fight to protect the land.
The female Shield Maidens were real not only in Scandinavia, in 1542 the Spanish conqueror Francisco de Orellana discovered the Amazon River in Brazil "...and they clashed with natives led by BLOND WHITE WOMEN with swords and with piercing screams, the captured natives said that they were goddesses who lived in the high mountains of the jungle.." This was said by the chronicler who witnessed the battle, Friar Gaspar de Caravajal, the Viking presence in South America is overwhelming, the music is poetic and fascinating 👍

a workout video with this song would be cool😀 and yes, you can use all my music in all kind of RUclips-projects, just mention my name or channel... or the long version: USAGE: If your project (any project at all, movie, photography, websites, live shows etc.) is non-commercial, which means it doesn't earn you any money, then you can use my music for free. Only given credits are necessary, that's the only condition. Credits would be totally fine as a small text in the movie, website etc. written "Music by Daniel Burgin". In live shows and other projects where including a text would be difficult, an oral mention would suffice as well. =) On RUclips and twitch you can also use my music for free even if you monetize your videos by the way! ANY school projects have automatic free permission to use my music, no license payment is required.

Stirs my blood every time I hear it spoken. Travis Fimmel executed that scene with absolute perfection.

In ancient Ireland women fought in battle alongside the men. They were to be greatly feared and no mistake.

So easy to picture an army of Valkyries riding to Midgard when you close your eyes and listen. Amazing composition.
Lagertha? Is that you? Have the Valkyries accepted you into their ranks?
Of course lagertha the child of féra
@Berserking Bishop i would agree that mortal women wouldn't become valkyries although there was women some who fought in the military

Holy shit, that was amazing. Some of your best guitar work yet, and the vocalist did a great job too.

This song should've been called something like "The Valkyries Have Come" or "Coming of the Valkyries."
I can imagine this song going through Yasha from Critical Role's head as she flies into battle, the Valkyrie in the video even looks like Yasha.
