This remodel took “Open Floor Plan” to a whole new level! Starting off, we removed a large, intruding wall that came halfway across the kitchen and family room. In order to achieve this, and still hold all the structural integrity, we had to introduce new recessed, flush mounted beams above the ceiling height. In doing so, this gave us a kitchen and family room that now intertwine as one large open space instead of two closed off, separated rooms. An entertaining delight!
A brand new, oversized kitchen island replace a once small, awkwardly shaped, outdated one. Now with the 12” overhang on two sides, measuring 7.5 feet in length, the family has seating for 5 right there at the island itself. A wonderful centerpiece to the new space. On one side of the island, we installed all drawers, for both aesthetic purposes, and the functionality of plenty of storage space. On the other we installed 12” cabinets for stackable storage items. To finish it off, we did a waterfall edge on the south side of the island.
The color palette is designed to impress even the fussiest guests. Pure white cabinets throughout the kitchen, matched with the deep, matte ebony cabinets and drawers of the island. All of the cabinets are shaker style, in the Caravel series from Canyon Creek. Quartz countertops, Calacatta Miranda from Arizona Tile top all the lower cabinets, and the island. We continued the quartz up through the backsplash. Continuing along the color palette, the fixtures are in a matte black, including the pendant light rails, the pot filler, and the Moen faucet that sits atop the Kohler sink in the color White Haven. As a stunning accent throughout the kitchen, we added brushed gold drawer pulls.
On the north side of the kitchen, we took a once plain wall and added a pantry that includes a beautiful Bosch microwave. Opposite that, on the south wall, more pantry space that houses a refrigerator built into the space.
Tying the rooms together, we took the original 2” oak floor planks, and matched them so well, you will have a difficult time seeing the seem where placed the two together. A bright and warm color palette to accent the stark black and white features the kitchen boasts so proudly.
